Abstract

PT Semen Baturaja Tbk. as one of the largest cement industries on the island of Sumatra uses a rotary kiln in its production process. Rotary kiln in the cement industry has an important role because it will determine the quality of the product. Rotary kiln serves as a place to react raw materials to become products. The type of coal used as fuel for the rotary kiln is BA-45 coal. This type of coal was chosen because it has a calorific value of 4,500 kcal/kg. The calculation of SFC in the rotary kiln aims to determine how much fuel is needed in the combustion process in the rotary kiln. This calculation is based on actual data taken from the Central Control Room (CCR) and the Quality Control (QC) laboratory. The average SFC calculation was obtained at 619,658 Kcal/kg. The largest SFC value was on July 22, 2023, which was 676.71 kcal/kg, while the smallest SFC was obtained on July 20, 2023, which was 568.54 kcal/kg. The high and low SFC obtained is influenced by many factors, such as the amount of kiln feed, water content in the feed, and the type of coal used.

Abstract

Abstrak:Energi memiliki peran krusial dalam mendukung berbagai kegiatan operasional dan proses produksi di industri. Sebagai upaya untuk memenuhi kebutuhan energi, digunakan mesin konversi yang merupakan suatu sistem peralatan yang dapat mengubah energi dari satu bentuk ke bentuk yang lain. Salah satunya adalah boiler atau ketel uap. Boiler adalah bagian penting dari sistem pembangkit energi yang digunakan untuk menghasilkan steam bertekanan tinggi. Steam yang dihasilkan oleh boiler biasanya dapat digunakan sebagai fluida kerja dan penggerak peralatan industri seperti turbin uap. Agar dapat menghasilkan steam dengan kualitas yang baik, diperlukan pembakaran yang optimal. Berbagai upaya terus dikembangkan untuk meningkatkan efisiensi termal dan mengurangi biaya operasional serta mengurangi emisi dengan mengatur rasio udara dan bahan bakar yang optimal. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui rasio udara bahan bakar optimal untuk mendapatkan pembakaran yang sempurna, efisiensi termal ruang bakar yang tinggi dan specific fuel consumption yang rendah. Bahan bakar yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah solar dan gas LPG. Bahan bakar tersebut dipilih karena menghasilkan emisi yang rendah, harganya yang stabil, dan ketersediaannya yang berkelanjutan. Variasi rasio udara bahan bakar solar yang digunakan adalah 16, 18, 20, 22, dan 24, sedangkan untuk bahan bakar gas adalah 17, 19, 21, 23, dan 25. Hasil produksi superheated steam pada bahan bakar solar dan gas didapatkan kondisi paling optimal pada rasio udara bahan bakar ke-4 dengan efisiensi termal ruang bakar bahan bakar solar sebesar 79,48%, sedangkan untuk bahan bakar gas efisiensi termal ruang bakarnya sebesar 80,03%.Kata Kunci: boiler; steam; rasio udara bahan bakar; efisiensi termalAbstract: Energy has a crucial role in supporting various operational activities and production processes in industry. In an effort to meet energy needs, a conversion machine is used which is a system of equipment that can convert energy from one form to another. One of them is a boiler or steam boiler. Boilers are an important part of the energy generation system used to produce high-pressure steam. Steam produced by boilers can usually be used as a working fluid and drive industrial equipment such as steam turbines. In order to produce steam with good quality, optimal combustion is required. Various efforts continue to be developed to improve thermal efficiency and reduce operating costs and reduce emissions by setting the optimal air and fuel ratio. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the optimal air-fuel ratio to obtain complete combustion, high combustion chamber thermal efficiency and low specific fuel consumption. The fuels used in this study are diesel and LPG gas. These fuels were chosen because they produce low emissions, are stable in price, and have sustainable availability. The air ratio variations of diesel fuel used are 16, 18, 20, 22, and 24, while for gas fuel are 17, 19, 21, 23, and 25. The results of superheated steam production on diesel fuel and gas obtained the most optimal condition at the 4th fuel air ratio with a combustion chamber thermal efficiency of diesel fuel of 79.48%, while for gas fuel the combustion chamber thermal efficiency is 80.03%.Keywords: boiler; steam; fuel air ratio; thermal efficiency
