Abstract

This study aims to strengthen community awareness of the importance of early childhood education through a participatory learning motivation program facilitated by university students in Sukaraja Village, West Lampung, Indonesia. Using a descriptive qualitative design with a participatory approach, the research involved 15 children aged 4-6 years and 10 parents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, field observations, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model supported by triangulation to ensure validity. The findings demonstrate that participatory learning activities significantly enhanced children’s enthusiasm, parental involvement, and collective community awareness toward early education. The program successfully integrated intrinsic and extrinsic motivation by combining play-based methods, peer interaction, and contextual learning environments. Furthermore, two informal learning groups emerged as a sustainable community-driven initiative after the program ended. The study contributes a novel participatory motivation framework that integrates educational awareness, family engagement, and community empowerment to promote inclusive early education in rural contexts.

Abstract

Salmonella typhi, the causative agent of typhoid fever, has increasingly developed resistance to conventional antibiotics, necessitating research into alternative antimicrobial agents. Moringa oleifera L. is a medicinal plant rich in phytochemical compounds including flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and terpenoids with documented antibacterial properties. This study examined the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of moringa leaves against S. typhi growth, and evaluated the validity and practicality of a monograph developed from these experimental findings for undergraduate microbiology education. Using a True Experimental Research design with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), the antibacterial activity was assessed through the Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method at concentrations of 12.5%, 25%, 50%, and 100%, with Aztreonam as positive control. The monograph development followed the 4-D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Results demonstrated that all extract concentrations significantly inhibited S. typhi growth (p = 0.000), with the highest inhibition zone diameter of 14.18 mm at 100% concentration, classified as strong inhibition. Higher concentrations consistently produced larger inhibition zones, indicating a dose-dependent antibacterial effect. The developed monograph achieved validity scores of 91.67% (content expert) and 92.85% (media expert), both categorized as valid. Practicality testing with 14 students yielded a score of 87.93%, indicating the monograph is highly practical for use in microbiology courses. These findings confirm moringa leaf extract as a promising natural antibacterial agent and establish its viability as research-based educational material.

Abstract

Education is a vehicle for improving and developing the quality of human resources. Apart from that, education is a set of processes in the form of instilling values, ideas, concepts and theories aimed at developing personality, knowledge, skills and behavior as well as achieving ideals and life goals. Achieving learning goals in the form of learning achievement is the result of learning activities. The quality in the classroom is influenced by many complex things that are interrelated with each other, for example learning methods, learning models, learning strategies and so on. The low level of student activity when learning biology occurs because students only receive information conveyed by their teacher. Students don't want to think, students don't want to try to find concepts and solve problems that have been given by their teacher. The aim of this research is to determine the influence of various learning models on students' critical thinking abilities in biology material based on literature studies. So this research is entitled "literature study of the influence of various learning models on students' critical thinking abilities in biology material".

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low Science literacy and scientific attitudes of students in the learning process. One of the learning and media models is the Problem Based Learning model and the Stop-Motion Animation video media. This study aims to determine the influence of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Stop-Motion Animation videos on the Ability of Science Literacy and scientific attitudes of grade XI students in Biology subjects at SMA Negeri 16 Bandar Lampung. This research is a quantitative research with quasy experiment method. The study population was taken using 2 classes XI of science and the research sample consisted of XI IPA 8 as the experimental class and class XI IPA 9 as the control class. The total population consists of 50 learners with a control class of 25 learners and an experimental class of 25 learners.Based on the results of data analysis obtained from pretest and posttest data analyzed using the Independent Sample T-Test test to answer the hypothesis. The data obtained from the calculation of the hypothesis with an independent t-test sig value (2-tailed) which is 0.00 0.05 means that Ho is rejected Hi accepted So it can be concluded that the hypothesis in the study is accepted, meaning that there is an influence of the Problem Based Learning Model on Science Literacy and Scientific Attitudes of students.
