Abstract

This research is entitled "Application of Individual Counseling Using Role Reversal Techniques to Overcome Sibling Rivalry in the Family". Sibling rivalry is a form of competition, jealousy, and envy between siblings. Client "Ea" considers his younger sibling to be a rival for his father's attention and love, therefore client "Ea" finds it difficult to get along with his younger sibling. This research was conducted to describe the picture of sibling rivalry in "Ea" clients and determine the application of individual counseling using the Role Reversal technique to overcome sibling rivalry in Ea clients in Kapitan Village, Suka Merindu District, Lahat Regency, South Sumatra Province. This research uses a qualitative approach with field research. The subject in this research is the client "Ea". The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. Meanwhile, the data analysis techniques used are pattern matching, making explanations, and time series analysis. The results of the research show that the description of sibling rivalry experienced by client "Ea" contains several aspects, including conflict, jealousy, and resentment. The factors that cause sibling rivalry to occur in "Ea" clients are parental attitudes, gender, type of discipline, birth order, age difference, number of siblings, and influence of other people or outside. In the application of individual counseling using the role reversal technique, five meetings were held with three stages, namely the initial stage, the middle stage or work stage, and the final stage. Overcoming sibling rivalry using the role reversal technique is a process of role reversal or role exchange used by clients who are experiencing anxiety.

Abstract

Grief is an emotion triggered by an event, experience or situation that is painful and disappointing. This research was conducted to gain a deeper understanding of how grief and loss are understood and experienced by people in Southeast Asia. In this study, the researcher uses a qualitative approach to literature study research, where researchers searched for literature articles related to Grief or grief that occurred in Southeast Asia in the 2017–2023 time span. The results showed that grief and loss are related to each other, the grief experienced by individuals is of several types, such as complicated grief and uncomplicated grief. Showing the reaction to grief from individuals, it is characterized by crying and showing an attitude of disbelief towards something that happened. In addition, the causes of grief experienced by individuals, especially in Southeast Asia, are due to the sudden death of parents, the Coronavirus outbreak which caused many deaths, divorce, and the diagnosis of a terminal illness in a person. However, people in Southeast Asia who experience grief and loss also exhibit diverse ways of coping with their grief such that some individuals successfully move through the phases of their grief, while others remain in the long-term grief phase.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the competence of cross-cultural communication on aspects of knowledge of students at SMK Negeri 6 Palembang. A quantitative descriptive method was used. This research data use secondary data, and the data was collected by using the Likert model of cross-cultural communication competence psychological scale (Harlina, et al., 2021). The total population in this study was 262 students, the determination of the number of samples using the Slovin formula, from the calculations obtained the number of samples used as many as 158 students who were selected randomly with proportional random sampling technique. The data analysis technique uses the percentage formula with the Microsoft Office Excel 2016 program. The results showed that the cross-cultural communication competence in the knowledge aspects is very high category 22 students (14%), high category 39 students (25%), medium category 28 students (18%), low category 65 students (41%), very low category 4 students (3%). Based on the data above, it can beconcluded that all respondents at SMK Negeri 6 Palembang show that the competence of cross-cultural communication in the knowledge aspect is in a low category.
