Abstract

Abstrak: Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan memberdayakan pekerja dan komunitas sekitar tempat pemrosesan akhir sampah (TPAS) dalam mengolah sampah organik dan limbah kayu menjadi biopelet sebagai bahan bakar alternatif co-firing biomassa pada PLTU. Metode pelaksanaan mencakup tiga tahapan, yaitu pra-kegiatan berupa identifikasi potensi dan koordinasi mitra, pelaksanaan melalui sosialisasi ekonomi sirkular dan pelatihan teknis produksi biopelet meliputi pengeringan, pencacahan, pencampuran, pencetakan, dan pendampingan operasional, serta evaluasi melalui uji mutu produk dan survei kepuasan peserta. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan biopelet yang dihasilkan memenuhi spesifikasi umum co-firing biomassa dengan kadar air 8–12%, nilai kalor 3.300–4.100 kkal/kg, dan kadar abu 7–10%. Survei terhadap 25 peserta mencatat respons positif rata-rata 80%, dengan 86% melaporkan peningkatan keterampilan teknis dan 72% menyatakan minat melanjutkan produksi secara berkelanjutan. Program ini terbukti meningkatkan kapasitas sumber daya manusia, mengurangi beban timbunan sampah, serta membuka peluang usaha berbasis energi terbarukan yang berpotensi direplikasi pada TPAS lain.Abstract: This community service program aimed to empower workers and residents surrounding an urban municipal solid waste landfill (TPAS) to process organic waste and wood residue into biopellets for biomass co-firing fuel for PLTU. Implementation comprised three phases: pre-activity, involving potential identification and partner coordination; implementation, encompassing circular economy socialization and technical training in biopellet production covering drying, shredding, blending, molding, and operational mentoring; and evaluation through product quality testing and participant satisfaction surveys. Quality assessments confirmed that the biopellets produced met general co-firing biomass specifications, achieving moisture content of 8–12%, calorific value of 3,300–4,100 kcal/kg, and ash content of 7–10%. A survey of 25 participants recorded an average positive response rate of 80%, with 86% reporting improved technical skills and 72% expressing interest in continuing production. The program demonstrably enhanced human resource capacity, reduced landfill waste accumulation, and created renewable energy-based livelihood opportunities replicable at other sites.
