Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of bitter beans peels (Parkia speciosa Hassk) extract on creatinine and urea levels, and the effective dose of the exctract on creatinine and urea levels. This research was a laboratory experiment using 25 rats which were divided into five treatment groups, each group consisting of 5 rats. Group 1 (normal control), group 2 (negative control) were given suspension of Na-CMC, groups 3, 4, and 5 respectively given petai rind ethanolic extract doses of 300, 400 and 500 mg/kg. The results showed that petai fruit (Parkia speciosa hassk) peels extract had an effect on creatinine and urea levels of diabetes hypercholesterolemia male rats by an effective dose of 300 mg/kg which has an effect on creatinine levels by an average of 0.38 mg/dL and ureum levels by an average of 12.9 mg/dL. Abstract

Yogurt merupakan hasil fermentasi susu dari bakteri asam laktat (BAL) seperti Lactobacillus bulgaricus dan Streptococcus thermophilus yang berperan pada pembentukan tekstur dan rasa yogurt. Oleh karena itu perlu diperhatikan perbandingan bakteri yang ditambahkan. Fortifikasi ekstrak buah jamblang (Syzygium cumini L.) bertujuan untuk meningkatkan nutrisi dan sebagai agen antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui perbandingan komposisi bakteri L. bulgaricus dan S. thermophilus yang tepat ditambahkan untuk mendapatkan yogurt terfortikasi buah jamblang dengan karakteristik organoleptik dan tingkat kesukaan yang paling baik. Ekstrak buah diperoleh dengan pemanasan (54°C, 50 menit) (100 g ekstrak: 50 mL air). Komposisi bakteri L. bulgaricus dan S. thermophilus yang ditambahkan (1:1, 1:2, dan 2:1). Evaluasi yang dilakukan yaitu uji karakteristik organoleptik dan tingkat kesukaan pada yogurt. Analisis data menggunakan ANAVA (Analisis varian). Hasil menunjukkan yogurt terfortifikasi buah jamblang dengan bakteri L. bulgaricus dan S. thermophilus (1:1, 1:2, 2:1) memberikan pengaruh terhadap karakteristik organoleptik yogurt. Yogurt fortifikasi buah jamblang memiliki kualitas yang paling baik dibandingkan dengan yogurt tanpa forfikasi. Pada perlakuan tersebut menghasilkan karakteristik organoleptik warna (merah muda), aroma (sangat khas yogurt), rasa (agak asam), tekstur (agak halus) dan kekentalan (agak kental). Tingkat kesukaan tertinggi terdapat pada yogurt terfortifikasi buah jamblang dengan bakteri L. bulgaricus dan S. thermophilus 1:2.

Abstract

Aphrodisiac is a substance that can increase stamina, libido (sexual desire), and male fertility. This study aims to determine the secondary metabolites contained in the leaves of the Bungkus plant (Smilax rotundifolia L.), to determine the aphrodisiac activity of the leaf extract of the Bungkus plant on the fertility parameters of male white rats (Rattus norvegicus). This study used an experimental method with a modified post-test randomized controlled group design using 15 male white rats and 30 female white rats which were divided into 3 treatment groups, namely pairing each male rat with 2 female white rats (1 : 2). Each group consisted of 5 male rats and 10 female rats, namely the normal control group (NaCMC 0.5%), the positive control group (X-Gra 51.37 mg/kgBW), the control group the leaf extract test sample of the Bungkus plant (S. rotundifolia L.) with a dose of 200 mg/kgBW. The research data were analyzed using the SPSS 25 statistical test. The results of this study indicate that the leaf extract of the Bungkus plant contains secondary metabolites flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids and tannins. The administration of Bungkus leaf extract at a dose of 200 mg/kgBW showed a difference in the percentage value of the pregnancy index and a significant effect on the fertility index value.

Abstract

Mouthwash adalah cairan atau larutan yang digunakan untuk menyegarkan mulut, menghilangkan plak, dan membasmi mikroorganisme penyebab penyakit mulut. Mouthwash mengandung bahan kimia yang dapat menimbulkan efek tertentu jika tertelan. Oleh karena itu, penting untuk menjaga kesegaran mulut dan kesehatan gigi menggunakan bahan alami yang dapat mengurangi efek samping dari obat kumur seperti daun mimba (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) yang memiliki khasiat antibakteri, menjaga kesehatan mulut dan gigi. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi konsentrasi ekstrak etanol dari daun mimba terhadap sifat fisik mouthwash, dengan parameter yaitu uji organoleptis, pH, dan bobot jenis (BJ). Daun mimba diekstraksi menggunakan metode maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96%. Konsentrasi ekstrak yang ditambahkan pada mouthwash adalah F1 (0%), F2 (15%), F3 (20%), dan F4 (25%). Hasil uji sifat fisik kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji ANAVA satu jalur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan hasil organoleptik pada F0 aroma mentol, warna bening, rasa mentol dan manis, pada F1 dan F2 aroma Khas (ekstrak daun mimba) + mentol, warna merah kecoklatan, rasa khas + manis, pada F4 aroma khas mentol, warna bening, dan rasa sangat khas + manis. Hasil uji pH pada F0 6, dan pada F1, F2, F3 yaitu 5. Hasil uji BJ F0-F3 berturut-turut yaitu 1.01 g/ml, 1.02 g/ml, 1.02 g/ml, 1.03 g/ml. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, semakin tinggi konsentrasi ekstrak daun mimba, semakin khas hasil uji organoleptik, pH semakin rendah, dan bobot jenis (BJ) semakin meningkat. Abstract

Developing countries use medicinal plants for aphrodisiac treatment, one of which is a pack plant (Smilax rotundifolia) which is commonly used to enlarge male genitalia in Papua Indonesia. Because these claims are not scientifically tested and proven, at this time This study aims to determine the effect of the ethanol extract of S. rotundifolia stem and leaf tubers on the parameters of sexual behavior in male Sprague Dawley rats. As well as fear the most effective plant parts have aphrodisiac activity. Thirty rats were divided into 5 groups (A-E) consisting of group A given 0.5% Na CMC colloid solution (normal control), group B given X-gra® suspension dosage 51.37 mg / kgBW (control positive), group C was given root ethanol extract dosage 200mg / kgBB, group D was given stem ethanol extract dosage 200mg / kgBB and group E was given leaf ethanol extract dosage 200mg / kgBB. The aphrodisiac test was observed on the 31st day with a ratio of male and female rats (1: 2). All parameters tested in the extract group showed significant differences with the normal group. This showed an aphrodisiac effect in all extract groups. Abstract

Introduction: Tuberculosis is a disease that attacks the lungs and several other organs caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Tuberculosis remains a global health issue in developing countries, including Indonesia. Anti-tuberculosis drugs are the most important part of pulmonary TB treatment, but these medications often cause side effects. If not controlled, they can cause discomfort and worsen the patient's condition. Acupressure and the administration of ginger and lemon extract serve as non-pharmacotherapy complements to help reduce the side effects of anti-tuberculosis drugs. Methods: This study is quasi-experimental with a two-group pretest-posttest approach involving 30 participants. Acupressure was administered for 7 minutes per day, while a mixture of ginger and lemon extract was given at 8 grams per day. The intervention was provided for four weeks. Body weight was measured using a digital scale, nausea and vomiting were measured using the Rhodes index of nausea, vomiting, and retching, and joint pain was measured using the numeric pain scale. Results: nausea and vomiting with a p-value of 0.00 before and after the treatment. The post-treatment difference test between the two groups did not show significant differences (> 0.05) with a low difference. Conclusions: The administration of acupressure and ginger and lemon extract can help reduce the side effects of tuberculosis treatment

Abstract

As people age, the function of body organs gradually declines, increasing the risk of chronic diseases in the elderly. Some individuals undergo regular health check-ups and monitoring at healthcare facilities, while others choose herbal medicine (jamu) to address their health issues. This community service activity aims to encourage the community to wisely consume medications, both traditional and synthetic, to achieve therapeutic goals without causing undesired side effects. The activities were carried out using both direct and indirect methods. Direct methods included lectures using PowerPoint presentations, while indirect methods involved distributing leaflets. A total of 33 elderly and pre-elderly participants, accompanied by 8 elderly health post (posyandu) cadres, took part in this program. The results showed an improvement in participants' understanding of proper medication consumption and the correct use of herbal medicine.

Abstract

Minuman herbal adalah minuman yang terbuat dari tumbuhan yang berkhasiat untuk menjaga kesehatan tubuh. Beberapa tumbuhan yang digunakan umumnya berupa bumbu dapur, namun sebagian besar ibu rumah tangga masih minim pengetahuan mengenai cara pembuatan dan penggunaan minuman herbal dari bumbu dapur yang tepat untuk memperoleh hasil yang optimum untuk menjaga kesehatan. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat khususnya ibu rumah tangga mengenai pemanfaatan bumbu dapur sebagai minuman herbal untuk menjaga kesehatan keluarga. Metode kegiatan berupa ceramah dan pembagian leaflet. Bahan dan peralatan yang digunakan yaitu spanduk, leaflet, laptop dan LCD proyektor, serta alat untuk mengukur tekanan darah, tinggi badan (TB), dan berat badan (BB). Untuk mengetahui tingkat kesehatan peserta dilakukan pemeriksaan kesehatan gratis berupa pemeriksaan tekanan darah, TB dan BB. Kegaiatan dilaksanakan pada tanggal 22 Desember 2024, tempat pelaksanaan kegiatan adalah PAUD Buah Hati Bunda padukuhan karangploso, desa sitimulyo, piyungan, bantul, Yogyakarta. Sasaran kegiatan adalah ibu rumah tangga yang berdomisili di desa Sitimulyo. Kegiatan dihadiri oleh 33 peserta lansia dan pra lansia. Hasil pemeriksaan kesehatan menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas peserta mengalami hipertensi (72%) dan memiliki indeks massa tubuh (IMT) dalam kategori normal (66,67%). Hasil ini digunakan sebagai rujukan untuk menentukan jenis minuman herbal dari bumbu dapur yang tepat guna menjaga kesehatan masing-masing peserta. Kegiatan ini berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman peserta tentang pemanfaatan bumbu dapur untuk kesehatan, yang terlihat dari antusiasme peserta dalam diskusi serta kemampuan dalam memahami cara pembuatan dan penggunaan yang tepat.

Abstract

This research aims were to analyzed mineral composition of fresh and processed meti freshwater mussels (Batissa violacea Lamarck,1818) and to know the effect of boiling media on the mineral composition with various added boiling media conditions that are water, NaCl 1%, and acetic acid 0.5%. Mineral compositions were tested with microwave digestion and Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) method. Mineral composition of fresh mussel were consisted of calcium (Ca) 10412 mg/kg, cobalt (Co) 0,182 mg/kg, copper (Cu) 3,54 mg/kg, magnesium (Mg) 345 mg/kg, mangan (Mn) 13,6 mg/kg, phosphor (P) 7753 mg/kg, potassium (K) 1163 mg/kg, sodium (Na) 291 mg/kg, and zinc (Zn) 44,2 mg/kg. The results of research on freshwater mussels in boiling media of water, NaCl 1%, and acetic acid 0.5% gave effect on the levels of minerals of calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), phosphor (P), potassium (K), sodium (Na ), cobalt (Co), copper (Cu), mangan (Mn) and there is no effect on the levels of zinc (Zn).
