Abstract

Bullying remains a real problem within Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), even though these institutions are oriented toward the development of Islamic morals and character. The gap between the Islamic values taught and the daily practices of students (santri) serves as the primary background of this research. This study aims to analyze the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) concerning the prohibition of bullying and to examine the implementation of these values in the lives of students at Pondok Pesantren Al-Ikhwan Assalam Serapuh, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra. A qualitative approach with field research was employed, involving 10 informants (1 administrator, 2 caretakers, 1 teacher, and 6 students) selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model and a thematic hadith approach (mawḍū‘ī). The findings reveal that verbal bullying is the most dominant form and is often perceived as joking, thus frequently unrecognized as a violation of Islamic teachings; social bullying was also found, while physical and psychological bullying occurred at lower intensities. Contributing factors include students' limited understanding of bullying boundaries, excessive joking culture, textual religious comprehension, and suboptimal anti-bullying socialization. Implementation of hadith values is carried out through role modeling by caretakers, supervision of student interactions, hadith-based religious instruction, and enforcement of rules with educational sanctions. The study concludes that hadiths prohibiting bullying have strong relevance as a normative foundation for anti-bullying efforts; however, the internalization of these values into students' behavior remains suboptimal. Therefore, strengthening moral development, systematic anti-bullying socialization, and continuous habituation of hadith values are essential to create a safe, harmonious, and Islamically characterized boarding school environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze hadiths that mention the benefits of honey, olive oil, and black cumin seeds and evaluate their impact on men's reproductive health. Men's reproductive health is a major focus in the health sector, particularly in the context of disease prevention and maintaining sexual function. The research method used is a literature study with a textual analysis approach to the hadiths that discuss this topic, as well as reviewing scientific research related to the effects of honey, olive oil, and black cumin seeds on men's reproductive health. The results show that honey, olive oil, and black cumin seeds have therapeutic properties that can support men's sexual and reproductive health, such as improving sperm quality, increasing libido, and overcoming impotence problems. In conclusion, the use of honey, olive oil, and black cumin seeds according to the recommendations in the hadith can have a positive impact on men's reproductive health, with the note that further research is needed to explore their biological mechanisms.

Abstract

The proliferation of Islamic-based healing practices among the public presents a dilemma between the pragmatism of alternative medicine and the potential risk of theological deviation resulting from a lack of textual analysis regarding the practices employed. This study aims to examine the integration and textual foundation of the recitation of Rātib al-Ḥaddād at the Majelis Dzikir Miftahut Taubah (MDMT) in Sukamandi Village, Deli Serdang. Employing a qualitative case study design with a Living Qur'an approach, data were gathered through participant observation, in-depth interviews with practitioners and congregants, and textual-activity documentation of the assembly. The findings reveal that the recitation of Rātib al-Ḥaddād at MDMT possesses a robust normative foundation, fully legitimized under Islamic jurisprudence (sharīʿah) through evidence from the Qur'an, Hadith, and scholarly consensus. The perceived therapeutic efficacy for both somatic and non-somatic ailments relies on an elevated consciousness of Islamic monotheism (tawḥīd), the intrinsic virtues (faḍīlah) of the texts, and the principle of takhṣīṣ al-istiʿmāl embedded within Sūrah al-Fātiḥah, al-Muʿawwidhatayn, specific supplications (dhikr and duʿā), and blessings upon the Prophet (ṣalawāt). Furthermore, the use of water as a therapeutic medium is positioned purely as a permissible physical endeavor (ikhtiyār sharʿī), with ultimate efficacy attributed solely to God (Allāh). This study argues that Islamic spiritual-alternative healing must transcend mere physical recovery to prioritize spiritual re-orientation, thereby reaffirming the Qur'an as al-Shifāʾ (the healing source) while safeguarding the theological purity of the practitioners' faith (ʿaqīdah).
