Abstract

AbstractThe aims of this research were to determine difference in the students’ scientific work skills before and after implementing the guided inquiry model and determine the amount of effect the guided inquiry model of sientific work skill on corrosion material. The form of this research was pre-experimental design with one-group pretest-posttest design. Data collection tools used were scientific work skills test, observation sheets, and interview guildelines. Independent sample T test was used to analyze scientific work skills before and after the guided inquiry model was applied. The scientific work skills of students before and after guided inquiry learning were in the category of unskilled, less skilled, skilled and highly skilled. Independent sample T test result showed that the value of Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) was 0,000, wich mean less than 0,05 (>0.05). Score of N-gain shows that value of 0,6, which mean amount of effect the guided inquiry model of sientific work skill on corrosion material was medium. In conclusion, there were differences in the students’ scientific work skills before and after the guided inquiry model was applied.Keywords: Guided Inquiry, Scientific Work Skills, Corrosion.

Abstract

AbstractThe aimed of this research was to determine differences between students’ learning outcomes using green chemistry practicum method and learning outcome of students using demonstration method, and determined the magnitude of the influence of green chemistry practicum method toward student learning outcomes in the matters of separation mixture. This study used a quasi-experimental with nonequivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of VII A class as the control group and VII E class as the experimental group selected by purposive sampling technique. Learning achievement test were used to collect data. Based on final questionnaire and posttest data analysis using the Mann-Whitney U-test (α = 5%), Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) were 0.000 and 0.078 respectively. Based on data analysis showed that there were differences in students’ learning outcomes using green chemistry practicum method and learning outcome of students using demonstration method. The use of green chemistry practicum methods in terms of had an effect of 28.23% on the learning outcomes of class VII students of SMP Negeri 08 Singkawang in the matters of separation mixture.            Keywords: Green Chemistry, Learning outcome, Separation Mixture

Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed to describe the science literacy of twelve grade students of science class in SMA Mujahidin Pontianak on  Acid-Base Solution subject matter. The method used in this research was descriptive. The data were collected through purposive sampling technique with 31 participants of twelve grade students of science class. The tools that were used in gathering the data were test and interview guidelines. The science literacy that were measured content, process, and context of science. Based on the research findings, the students had a medium science literacy (19,35%) and a low science literacy (80,65%). Most of the students tend to learn by memorizing in which may affect them to have a less understanding the concept and in applying the acid-base solution material. It was found also that most of students could only used the basic concept but had a difficulty in using the complex one. Students can used the concept of the material in everyday life if they have a well understanding of the concept itself.    Keywords: science literacy ability, medium science literacy, low science literacy, acid-base solution

Abstract

Abstract This research aims to determine students' responses to the Android-Based Mobile Chemistry Learning Media (METEROID) as a learning supplement on hydrocarbon material. Type of this research is a Research and Development (R&D) by adapting the development steps byBergman and Moore model. This response is divided into several criteria that is excellent criteria, good criteria, good enough criteria, poor criteria, bad criteria. Data collection uses a response test questionnaire, while the aspects assessed in the response test questionnaire are material aspects, appearance aspects, and aspects of expediency. Based on this research,METEROID received responses from students in the initial field response test with excellent criteria (82.06%) and the main field response test with excellent criteria (85.59%). According to the results of the students' response test to the METEROID showed that students are very good to use the METEROID media as a learning supplement for hydrocarbons material. Abstract

AbstractThis study aimed to determine the level of feasibility and response of chemistry teachers to the performance appraisal instrument of the reaction rate practicum at Mempawah Senior High School. This research took the form of research and development (R & D) which adopted the development model of Borg & Gall. The subject of this study was the student performance appraisal instrument assessed by chemistry teachers at Mempawah Senior High School. The data collection instruments used was the feasibility questionnaire and the chemistry teacher response questionnaire. The results of data processing showed that the student performance appraisal instrument on the reaction rate practicum developed was very feasible (93.33%). The results of the initial trial of the chemistry teacher's response to the product were obtained with a total score of 79.54% with interpretation classified as good. While the main field tests, the teacher's response to the student performance appraisal instrument was obtained with a total score of 81.22% with interpretations classified as very good.Keywords:  Chemistry Teacher Response,  Feasibility, Reaction Rate, Performance Appraisal,

Abstract

The research was aimed to know the feasibility and readability of the guidance of chemistry practical work that was developed in electrolite and non electrolite solution’s material. This research uses research & development (R & D) which adopted development model of Borg & Gall. The subject of this research is the guidance of chemistry practical work which the readability to the student of XI IPA 2 SMA Negeri 2 Sungai Raya is examined in the first readability test and to the students of XI IPA 1, 2, and 3 in the second readability test. The result of expert judgement shows that the guidance of chemistry practical work is really feasible to be used in learning process considered of the content, present, language, and graph feasibility are 82.40%; 84%; 91.11%; and 80%. Based on the calculation of  student response percentage to the guidance of chemistry practical work gained the result of  first readibility test is 82.62% and the second readability test is 80.04%. This shows that the readability of the guidance of chemistry practical work is categories very high. Keywords: Guidance of practical work, electrolite and non electrolite, feasibility, readability

Abstract

Abstract This study aimed to determine whether there is a significant difference between student learning outcomes given cooperative learning model type Students Teams Achievement Division (STAD) with students given conventional learning on the redox reaction material, the effect of cooperative learning model type Students Teams Achievement Division (STAD) ) in improving student learning outcomes and student responses to cooperative learning models of the Students Teams Achievement Division (STAD) type on redox reaction material. The form of research used was a quasi-experimental research design "Control Group Pre-test Post-test". Sampling used purposive sampling technique, and students of class XA were selected as experiment classes while XE as a control class. The data collection tools used in this study are student learning outcomes and student response questionnaires. The results of hypothesis testing used the Mann Whitney U-test with α of 5% obtained Z count (-5,11) ≤ -Z table (-1,96). This means that there was a significant difference between the learning outcomes of the control class students who were taught using the conventional method and the experimental class taught using a cooperative model of the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) type. Furthermore, based on the value of the Effect Size of 1.65 showed that cooperative learning type Student Teams Achievement Division has a high influence in improved the learning outcomes of class X students of SMA 1 Sungai Raya. Keywords: Students Teams Achievement Division, learning outcomes, student responses
