Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to describe students' mathematical communication skills in solving refer to the Field Dependent cognitive style and Field Independent in solving cube and cuboid problems. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this study were 35 students of class IX H MTs Negeri 2 Pontianak. The data collection techniques used were Group Embedded Figures Test (GEFT) and written mathematical communication skills test questions. From the GEFT test results showed that 19 students ofField Dependent cognitive style and 16 students of Field Independent cognitive style. Based on the results of tests of mathematical communication skills, shows that students of cognitive style of Field Dependent were less able to convert mathematical ideas into images, do not have ideas or strategies so they cannot solve problems. Students of cognitive style of Field Independent were quite capable of changing mathematical ideas into image form, having ideas or strategies to solve problems, but the answer are less precise. Mathematical communication skills of students with Field Dependent cognitive style have moderate categories, and mathematical communication skills of students with Field Independent cognitive style have high categories. Keywords: Cognitive Style, Group Embedded Figures Test, Mathematical    Communication Skills

Abstract

AbstrackThe research aims to describe the problem solving ability based on student conceptual understanding of rational number operations in ten grade SMK  Negeri 2 Pontianak. The method is used descriptive method with survey of research. The sample of research was 9 studens. The sample determination is done by taking 3 students who have high conceptual understanding, 3 students who have average conceptual understanding, and 3 students who have low conceptual understanding. The result of data analysis showed that  students who have high conceptual understanding have very good problem solving ability, students who have average conceptual understanding have good problem solving ability, and students who have low conceptual understanding have bad problem solving ability.Keywords: Problem Solving Ability, Conceptual Understanding, Rational Number Operations

Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed to know the effectiveness implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in learning arithmetic sequence and series material at class X of SMK. The method used in this study was a pre-experimental method with One-shot case study. The aspects used to determine effectiveness by application the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model was the implementation of learning by teachers in managing learning, student activities, and student learning outcomes. The data collection tool used is a test, student learning outcomes test which contains 6 essay questions, observation sheet of learning implementation of learning the teacher in managing learning, observation sheet of student activities, and research results data analyzed descriptively. It was found that the learning implementation process of learning by the teacher in managing learning was classified as good, namely (3.5). The activity of students is classified as active, which is equal to 64%. Classical learning completeness is not fulfilled, there are 25 students or 62.5%. Students who achieve the minimum completeness value, learning by application of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in arithmetic sequence and series material at class X of SMK Negeri 2 Pontianak are said to be ineffective.                   Keywords:  Arithmetic  Sequence And Series Material, Implementation of learning,   Project-Based Learning (PjBL) Model.

Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed to know the effectiveness of applying problem posing approach in learning arithmetic sequence and series topic at class XI SMK. The research method used was pre-experimental method with one-shot case study design. The aspect to determine the effectiveness of the problem posing approach were teacher’s class management, student’s activity, student’s outcomes and student’s respond. Data collection tools used are student’s outcomes test which contains 4 essay, student’s respond questionnaire sheet and the observation sheet for teacher’s class management and student’s activity. The result of the descriptive analysis carried out were teacher’s class management categorized good (3,11), student’s activity categorized active (65,59%), student’s completeness not fulfilled classically (only 23 students or 66,97% of students can fulfill the standard completeness) and student’s respond categorized good (64%). Because there was one aspect that not fulfilled, so the applying of problem posing approach in learning arithmetic sequence and series at class XI SMK was not effective. Keywords: Arithmetic Sequence and Series, Effectiveness, Problem Posing Approach.

Abstract

AbstractMany students have difficulty in understanding the topic of the logarithm. The difficulties learners in understanding the logarithm can be anticipated by understanding how learners build logarithmic concept in their minds. The method of this research is qualitative, descriptive based on the theory of APOS. The results of this research show that on the learners with an understanding of the stages of action determines the value of the logarithm by means of guesses and limited to determining the value of the logarithm of the simple integer only. Learners with an understanding of the stages of the process can determine the logarithm of the number 1 as a result of action interiorisasi to guess. Learners with an understanding of the stage object has been able to sum, subtracting, dividing and multiplying the logarithm, but does not yet have an understanding of the whole of the definition of the logarithm. Learners with an understanding of the stages of the scheme can associate a logarithm with other concepts. Keywords:  Understanding, Concept of Logarithm, APOS Theory

Abstract

AbstractThis research aim to knowing and describe the spatial ability of students based on understanding the concept of a flat field at MTs Negeri 2 Pontianak. The research method used descriptive method with survey. The subject in this research were 36 students 9th grade of MTs Negeri 2 Pontianak which is divided into three levels that are concept understanding of high, medium, and low levels. The result of the data analysis showed that the spatial ability of students based on understanding the concept of a flat field has their respective dominance. Some have the same level of dominance and some have different levels of dominance, because the ability of each level is different. The spatial ability of students based on understanding the concept of a flat field high-level on the dominant element visualization and orientation spatial. The spatial ability of students based on understanding the concept of a flat field medium-level on the dominant element visualization and orientation spatial. The spatial abilities of students based on the two dimensional concept understanding low-level on the dominant element visualization.Keywords: Spatial Ability, Concept Understanding, Flat Field

Abstract

Abstract This research aimed to describe students' misconceptions on the subject of Pythagorean theorem before and after being resolved using cognitive conflict strategies in SMP Negeri 2 Pontianak. The method used is a qualitative descriptive with the form of a case study. The subjects in this research is 6 students from grade VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Pontianak in the academic year 2019/2020. While the data technique used is a test technique with a instrument in the form of a diagnostic test. The misconceptions revealed by the researchers based on the pre-test results were errors in using the term italic, using formulas that were not in accordance with the information in the questions, wrong in determining the conditions for the application of the Pythagorean theorem, errors in completing exponent calculations, and errors in determining the conditions for the formation of acute or obtuse triangles. . Based on the results of research and data analysis in this research, it is shown that cognitive conflict can overcome students' misconceptions on the subject of the Pythagorean theorem which can be seen in the student post-test results that show the application of concepts and the application of proper procedures in solving questions. Abstract

AbstractThe problem of this research was students’ learning outcomes of SMPN 1 Sungai Raya that below than the standard score,especially in probability topic. This research aimed to know the effect of cooperative learning model with group investigation type on students’ learning outcomes in probability topic. The form of this research was experiment and research design was post test only control group design. The samples of this research were 31 students of IX I class and 30 students of IX K class of SMPN 1 Sungai Raya.Essay questions was used to collecting the students’ learning outcomes. The result of this research showed that the average of posttest score of the experiment class was 12,63 and the average of posttest score of the control class was 10,97. Hypothesis was tested using U Mann-Whitney test showed that the result of Sig <  , is 0,039 < 0,05. The H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted, because sig < . It could be concluded that there was significant result of students’ learning outcomes between students had been given treatment using cooperative learning model with group investigations type and students had been given direct teaching model in probability topic. Keywords: Cooperative Learning, Group Investigation,  Learning Outcomes, Mathematics
