Abstract

Introduction: Cancer is a chronic disease that affects physical, psychological, social, and economic life of individual and then contributes to life quality. Psychotherapy is important in improving the life quality of cancer patients. One of psychotherapy that can be given is the implementation of ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). The aim of this study is to analyze the application of ACT in improving the life quality of cancer patients at the Puskesmas Pacarkeling Surabaya.        Method: This research method used pre-experimental with one group pre-post test design. The population of cancer patients enrolled in the Puskesmas Pacar Keling. Samples were 12 people whom are determined based on the inclusion criteria. The Independent variable is application of ACT and the dependent variable is life quality. Data collection and implementation of ACT were conducted in puskemas and home visits. The collected data was analyzed by Paired T test with significance level α=0.05. Result: Result showed that there was change in increasing life quality of cancer patients significantly after giving implementation of the ACT. The result of Paired t-test showed the life quality of patients had a significance level of p=0.000. These result demonstrate the value of p <0.05, so the research hypothesis is accepted. Discussion: It can be concluded that the application of ACT can improve the life quality of cancer patients. Health workers (nurses) need to master the implementation of the ACT as a therapeutic modality.

Abstract

Abstract

Stunting is a critical global issue, particularly in developing countries such as Indonesia, where it significantly impacts children's health and development. This study aimed to explore the experiences of families in caring for children with stunting in Timor, Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed, and nine families were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using in-depth interviews and observations over one month. Thematic analysis, supported by NVivo 14, was used to identify recurring themes. The study's findings are framed by the Family-Centered Nursing (FCN) theory, focusing on five key tasks: recognizing the problem, decision-making, caregiving capacity, modifying the environment, and utilizing healthcare services. Results indicated that while families recognized the issue of stunting, many attributed it to genetic factors. However, after guidance from healthcare workers, families engaged in available interventions, including attending Posyandu and participating in the government’s Supplementary Feeding Program. Families also expressed the need for educational reinforcement about stunting, particularly regarding its environmental and nutritional causes. Practical implications suggest the necessity of empowering families with skills to prepare complementary feeding using local resources and encouraging greater involvement of fathers in caregiving roles. Multisectoral approaches that involve healthcare, education, and social support are essential to effectively address stunting prevention.

Many studies use health media to increase mental health knowledge. The novelty in this study is the use of local language health pocket books. The purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of health education using local language mental health pocket books on adolescent knowledge of mental health. This type of research is a Quasi Experiment with a Pretest and Posttest two Group Design research design. The sample size was 150 respondents, with a sampling technique: purposive sampling. Data collection using a knowledge questionnaire in the pre-test and post-test. The results of the study using the Wilcoxon test showed that health education using local language books was effective in increasing adolescent mental health knowledge with a p value of 0.000 (p <0.05). In conclusion, local language Mental Health Books can be used to improve adolescent mental health knowledge.
