Abstract

Madrasahs, as Islamic educational institutions, hold a crucial position in fostering social mobility within society. This study aims to explore the connection between madrasahs and social mobility through a literature review approach. Madrasahs play a pivotal role in elevating the social status of their students by offering a blend of religious and general education. The findings highlight that madrasahs significantly contribute to shaping individuals who are not only grounded in Islamic values but also equipped with modern competencies, enabling them to make positive contributions to society. By integrating religious teachings with contemporary knowledge, madrasahs prepare students to navigate both the spiritual and worldly aspects of life, positioning them as agents of change. As such, the continued existence and development of madrasahs emphasize their relevance as dynamic educational institutions capable of addressing the diverse social and cultural challenges of the modern world.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease with a prevalence that continues to increase every year, so effective educational efforts are needed to improve public understanding. This research developed Rubee Immersion, a Virtual Reality (VR)-based health education and literacy media that aims to provide an interactive understanding of the causes, symptoms, and management of diabetes. Apart from being a means of education, this media also functions as a means of dissemination to introduce Rubee-Dia Tabs, herbal products made from Brucea javanica and forest honey which have the potential to help manage blood sugar levels. With a VR technology approach, Rubee Immersion is expected to be able to increase public awareness, knowledge, and interest in treating diabetes naturally and preventively.

Abstract

The low results of international assessments PISA and TIMSS highlight major challenges in Indonesian students' literacy competencies, including in madrasah institutions. This study employed a literature review method to analyze Indonesian students' literacy achievements and government efforts to enhance literacy skills through the Indonesian Madrasah Competency Assessment (AKMI). The findings reveal that although Indonesia slightly improved its ranking in PISA 2022, it still ranks among the low-performing countries, and its absence from recent TIMSS cycles underscores the need for educational reforms. AKMI is considered a strategic initiative to enhance madrasah students' literacy, covering reading, numeracy, science, and socio-cultural literacies, aligning with the six core global literacies. However, implementation challenges such as technical readiness, infrastructure limitations, and follow-up actions on assessment results require serious attention. Collaborative efforts are needed to optimize AKMI’s role in improving the quality of madrasah education.
