Abstract

Stunting remains a significant challenge in efforts to improve the quality of life. One of the main causes is the lack of balanced nutritional intake for children during their early developmental years. The village of Dempel, located in Geneng Subdistrict, Ngawi Regency, possesses local resources such as catfish and moringa leaves, which are rich in nutrients but have yet to be fully utilized. This community service program aims to empower PKK cadres in the village of Dempel by introducing an innovative approach to processing fortified catfish nuggets with moringa leaves. The program was on Wednesday 16 January 2025 and the method used is conducted using the Community Development (ComDev) method, starting with problem identification discussions with partners, followed by program design, and finally implementing training sessions. The initiative garnered great enthusiasm from the women participants, as it taught them new skills that could be directly applied in their daily lives. Through this program, it is expected that PKK cadres will not only be able to provide healthy food for their families but also create new business opportunities that can enhance household welfare.

Abstract

Abstract

Rice serves as the staple food in Indonesia, with premium varieties such as Pandan Wangi, Mentik Wangi, and Mentik Susu gaining increasing popularity due to their distinctive aroma, texture, and flavor profiles. Understanding consumer preferences for these varieties is crucial for producers, distributors, and policymakers to develop effective marketing strategies and support food security initiatives. This study analyzes consumer preferences for aromatic rice in Ngawi Regency, East Java, focusing on key attributes including taste, price, packaging size, and brand perception. The research employs a descriptive analysis method utilizing the Fishbein Multi-Attribute Model to evaluate consumer attitudes. Data were collected from 90 respondents in Ngawi Regency, evenly distributed across the three rice varieties, using purposive sampling techniques. The questionnaire measured consumer belief (bi) and importance (ei) scores for each attribute, with data analysis conducted using Microsoft Excel. Findings indicate that Mentik Wangi rice emerged as the most preferred variety, achieving the highest total attitude score (Ao) of 67.4, supported by superior ratings in taste (4.07), price (4.13), packaging size (4.18), and brand perception (4.10). Pandan Wangi rice scored highest in brand trust (4.08), while Mentik Susu rice excelled in taste attributes (3.92). These results align with previous research, confirming that sensory quality and economic factors significantly influence consumer choices. This study contributes to the understanding of consumer preferences for aromatic rice in Indonesia and provides practical recommendations for stakeholders regarding product development and marketing strategies. The research novelty lies in its comparative evaluation of consumer perceptions across three premium rice varieties, offering a comprehensive perspective on local market dynamics.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the monotone association between access to information and distribution efficiency; the monotone association between product quality and distribution efficiency; and the monotone association between infrastructure and distribution efficiency. The research was conducted in Ngawi Regency and involved 61 agribusiness actors (farmers and collectors) as respondents. The respondents were selected using a purposive sampling method. Data were collected through respondents’s responses by answering a questionnaire distributed via Google Forms. The data were subsequently analyzed using the Spearman Rank Correlation test to identify the correlation between each independent variable and the dependent variable. The results of the respondent characteristics indicate that the majority of agribusiness actors were in the age group of 36–55 years (34.43%), with male gender (77.05%), and had completed a senior high school education (54.10%). The Spearman Rank Correlation tests shows that access to information has a positive and statistically significant correlation with distribution efficiency at a moderate strength. By contrast, product quality has a positive but very low strenght and non-significant correlation with distribution efficiency. Meanwhile, the Infrastructure variable has a possitive correlation with low strength and significant correlation with distribution efficiency.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the results of the hedonic testing on Robusta Lawu and Excelsa Selondo coffee as a strategy to determine the target market for coffee sales in Ngawi Regency. The research method used in this study is the hedonic test, where the preference test aims to measure the quality of coffee through the five senses (preference, color, aftertaste, flavor, and aroma) as a basis for determining the coffee market share in Ngawi Regency. This hedonic testing was conducted on 50 untrained panelists and 8 semi-trained panelists in Ngawi Regency. The results indicate that the majority of panelists gave positive evaluations to Excelsa Selondo coffee, known for its unique fruity flavor. Meanwhile, Robusta Lawu coffee also received similar positive feedback due to its bitter taste and strong aroma, which are characteristic of robusta coffee. These findings suggest that the target market for Excelsa Selondo coffee tends to be male consumers due to its unique flavor, while Robusta Lawu coffee is more favored for its bitterness. This research provides practical contributions to coffee producers as a basis for planning marketing strategies and determining company marketing policies based on consumer preferences.
