Abstract

Abstract

The development of the halal cosmetics industry is no longer just an option, but an urgent need in the face of changing consumer preferences and global market dynamics. The increasing awareness of the Muslim community towards halal cosmetic products is reflected in the significant growth of the global halal cosmetics market in recent years. This encourages various cosmetic manufacturers to develop their halal product lines, but there are still challenges in implementing halal standards. Using literature studies, this study examines the halal cosmetics industry's development strategy from the Islamic business ethics perspective. This study found that the application of Islamic business ethics in the halal cosmetics industry not only includes the halal aspect of the product but also includes the aspect of consumer safety. For this reason, Islamic business ethics is needed as a strategy for the development of halal cosmetics, namely through the fulfillment of business ethics principles and the implementation of business ethics. The implementation of this strategy (Islamic business ethics) not only creates a competitive advantage for cosmetic manufacturers but also provides a guarantee of halal and product safety for Muslim consumers. In addition, a consumer needs to understand halal and safe cosmetics by checking halal labels and cosmetic composition. So, consumers will not be deceived by cosmetics with fake halal labels or harmful cosmetics.

Abstract

Buying and selling gold on credit has become an increasingly popular trend in the Islamic finance industry in various countries, including Indonesia. This practice has caused debate among scholars and practitioners of Islamic finance due to its complexity involving multi-contracts and potential conflict with traditional Sharia principles regarding gold transactions. On the one hand, buying and selling gold on credit is seen as an innovation that allows wider access for the public to invest in gold. On the other hand, there are concerns that this practice could lead to riba or gharar (uncertainty) which is prohibited in Islam. This study aims to: (1) detect contracts in the sale and purchase of gold on credit, including aspects of the ability to practice hybrid contracts, and (2) examine opinions on buying and selling gold on credit, including tracing the hadiths that are used as the basis for buying and selling gold in installments or on credit. The method used in this study is a literature study with data obtained from books, journal articles, DSN-MUI fatwas, and the web sunnah.com. The results of the study show that: (1) The practice of hybrid contract in buying and selling gold on credit is allowed as long as it is in accordance with Sharia principles, by using murabahah, qard, and ijarah contracts. (2) Buying and selling gold in installments or credit may be carried out if gold is not an official medium of exchange and has shifted its function to jewelry and investment instruments.

Abstract

In some countries with large Muslim populations, the low level of financial literacy is also one of the things that deserves attention. This study aims to examine the factors that contribute to the low level of Sharia financial literacy and identify potential strategies to improve it. The method used is a systematic literature review of scientific articles published in the last ten years, focusing on empirical studies in Muslim-majority countries. The results of the review show that the low literacy of Sharia finance is caused by several main factors, including the lack of formal education about the concept and products of Sharia finance, the complexity of Sharia financial products that are difficult for the general public to understand, limited access to Sharia financial institutions in some regions, and the emergence of negative perceptions or misconceptions about the Sharia financial system. In addition, psychological factors, consumer behavior, government policies and regulations, and technology still need to be studied more deeply whether there are indications in determining Sharia financial literacy. Therefore, further research is needed to measure the effectiveness of these interventions in different cultural and socioeconomic contexts.
