Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to explore the effectiveness of reality counseling in addressing hopelessness among adolescents at SMKN 1 Kota Tasikmalaya. Reality counseling was chosen as an intervention approach to assist adolescents in dealing with their personal challenges related to hopelessness. The research employed a quantitative method with a single subject experimental design (single subject research) using an A-B-A pattern. The participants in this study were three adolescents from class X at SMKN 1 Tasikmalaya during the 2022/2023 academic year, who exhibited signs of hopelessness. The results of the study indicated that the implementation of reality counseling was effective in reducing hopelessness levels among adolescents. Both statistical and visual analyses showed a decrease in hopelessness scores for each participant. Participant HZ showed a decrease in score from 12.75 in phase baseline 1 to 9.5 in phase baseline 2. Participant V experienced a decrease from 9.67 in baseline 1 to 9.5 in baseline 2. Meanwhile, participant Q showed a decrease from 9.5 in baseline 1 to 5.5 in baseline 2. These findings suggest that reality counseling helps participants manage negative thoughts and actions related to their personal issues, providing clearer direction in achieving life goals and overcoming frustrations that previously hindered them.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi efektivitas konseling realitas dalam mengatasi keputusasaan (hopelessness) pada remaja di SMKN 1 Kota Tasikmalaya. Abstract

Dating violence is a phenomenon that can have serious consequences. Individuals who experience dating violence often face psychological challenges, including depression, anxiety, emotional trauma, and difficulties in forming healthy relationships in the future. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) counseling in improving psychological well-being among victims of dating violence. The research utilized a single-case design with an A-B-A format. The participant in this study was an individual with a moderate level of dating violence and low psychological well-being. The intervention consisted of four EFT counseling sessions. Data were collected before, during, and after the intervention. Visual analysis of the results indicated a significant improvement in the participant's psychological well-being and a reduction in symptoms related to dating violence. These findings suggest that Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) counseling has the potential to be an effective intervention approach for victims of dating violence.

Abstract

The Cianjur earthquake on November 21, 2022, caused severe psychological impacts, particularly among adolescents who experienced significant loss or direct exposure to the disaster. This study aimed to analyze the prevalence of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Prolonged Grief Disorder (PGD), and to examine their respective effects on the mental health of adolescent disaster survivors. The research employed a descriptive and correlational quantitative design using a survey approach. A total of 551 adolescents aged 13–17 were selected through purposive sampling based on their exposure to the disaster’s impact. Three instruments were used to collect data: the PTSD Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5) to assess post-disaster trauma symptoms; the PGD-13-R to measure prolonged grief severity; and the Mental Health Continuum-Short Form (MHC-SF) to evaluate emotional, psychological, and social well-being. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson correlations, and multiple linear regression. Results showed that 18.5% of respondents met the criteria for PTSD and 6.9% for PGD. Regression analysis indicated that PTSD had a significant negative impact on mental health (β = –0.250; p < 0.001), while PGD was not a significant predictor (β = 0.046; p = 0.312). These findings suggest that post-disaster trauma contributes more substantially to mental health deterioration than prolonged grief. Therefore, evidence-based interventions such as Ego State Therapy are recommended to address PTSD symptoms effectively among adolescents affected by the earthquake.

Abstract

Addiction counseling training is a strategic effort to improve the professional competence of Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers in dealing with increasingly complex addiction problems among students. This activity not only strengthens conceptual understanding of addictive behavior, but also equips teachers with practical skills to provide effective and evidence-based interventions. One of the approaches introduced in this training is the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), an energy-based psychological technique that has been proven to reduce stress, anxiety, and compulsive drives that often underlie addictive behavior. The results of the training showed that BK teachers gained significant improvements in their knowledge and intervention skills, and were able to apply EFT adaptively in counseling services in schools. These findings emphasize the importance of ongoing professional development that not only focuses on cognitive aspects, but also includes practical approaches that are relevant to the psychosocial needs of students. Thus, this training contributes directly to improving the quality of guidance and counseling services in schools.
