Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the motivation of high school students in learning chemistry, investigating its determinants and inter-school differences. Using a quantitative descriptive and comparative approach, data were collected from 207 students across two high schools via a motivation questionnaire, with 156 valid responses retained for analysis. Results revealed a moderate overall level of motivation, with self-efficacy, active learning strategies, and achievement goals emerging as significant factors. Comparative analyses indicated differences in self-efficacy and performance goals between the two schools. The findings underscore the importance of understanding students' motivation in chemistry learning and its implications for educational practice. Future research could explore contextual and longitudinal influences on motivation, informing evidence-based interventions to enhance students' learning experiences and outcomes. This study contributes to the literature on student motivation in science education and provides insights for educators, policymakers, and researchers seeking to promote student engagement and achievement in chemistry.

Abstract

This study examines the digital literacy and intrinsic motivation of high-achieving chemistry students at SMA Negeri 1 Kerinci in the 2024/2025 academic year, and explores the relationship between these variables. The sample comprised science program students who participated in the National Science Olympiad (KSN). Using a mixed-methods sequential explanatory design, quantitative data were collected through questionnaires based on six digital literacy indicators and three intrinsic motivation indicators, followed by structured interviews for qualitative insights. Results showed that students demonstrated high digital literacy in “Uses to Produce Original Work” and “Considers Source,” but lower performance in “Selects.” Their intrinsic motivation was also high, particularly in learning activity, perseverance, and exam resilience. The Pearson correlation test indicated a significant positive relationship between digital literacy and intrinsic motivation (r = 0.679, p < 0.05), suggesting that improved digital literacy enhances students’ internal drive to learn. Overall, the findings underscore the need to integrate digital literacy into chemistry learning strategies to foster greater motivation and holistic academic achievement among students.

Abstract

This Community Service is intended as a preventive effort to reduce the morals of TPA-TPSA students. The impact in question is a reduction in students' ethics and concern for each other. Preventive efforts that are expected to touch the root of the problem are the application of character values to build noble moral behavior in students. In general, cultivating character values can be implemented by: 1). Building student character by increasing their sense of caring for others. The real step that can be taken is the formation of a cadre of students to become role models for students in instilling noble character values. As exemplary figures, cadres need to be equipped with knowledge, attitudes, behavior and understanding skills related to implementing noble moral character appropriately and intelligently. 2). Building Character through habituation, one of the habituation activities can be initiated through a learning program.
