Abstract

The existence of Minister of Agriculture Regulation Number 10 of 2022 concerning restrictions on national fertilizer subsidies among farmers requires alternative development of fertilizer processing. The aim of this Community Service is to educate and assist the BABE youth organization and residents of Bakalan village, Bululawang, Malang Regency in the Rapid Processing of Organic Fertilizer using the Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) Biodecomposer. The method of this activity is Participatory Action Research (PAR) including a survey of the potential for rapid processing of organic fertilizer, outreach and education as well as assistance in processing it. The result of community service activities is increased knowledge and ability of the community in processing cow dung waste into organic fertilizer products with quality that complies with government regulations. The conclusion of this activity is that education and mentoring to youth organizations and residents of Bakalan village, Bululawang, Malang Regency can increase the knowledge and skills of village residents in the production of Rapid Processing of Organic Fertilizer Using PGPR.

Abstract

The use of natural ingredients for cancer treatment is something that needs to be considered to obtain treatment according to the right molecular target cells with high selectivity with minimal side effects. Temu giring (Curcuma heyneana) has the highest antioxidant activity among the rhizome groups; the content of secondary metabolites is polyphenols and flavonoids. There was a correlation between antioxidant activity and cancer activity. The aim of this study was to examine the profile and anticancer activity of MCF-7 cells treated with a 96% ethanol extract of temu giring. Extraction using the maceration method. The profile of temu giring extract uses chemical reactions and thin layer chromatography. Anticancer testing using the Microculture Tetrazolium Technique assay method. Testing using MCF-7 cells with extract concentrations of 400µL, 200µL, 100µL, 50µL, and 25µL. Extract yield: 5.17%. Secondary metabolites in turmeric extract are flavonoids, terpenoids, polyphenols, and anthraquinones. The metabolites have the ability to inhibit MCF-7 cells. The anticancer potential of MCF-7 cells with IC50 60.38±9.03µL (strong cytotoxicity).

Abstract

Plant parts deemed as waste, such as banana corm and watermelon mesocarp, show promise as raw materials for cosmetics when processed using nanocream technology. This study aimed to assess the characteristics of nanocream creams combining these extracts. The characterization of the nanocream creams included organoleptic testing, homogeneity testing, pH testing, nanocream type testing, spreadability testing, stability testing, viscosity testing, antioxidant activity testing using the DPPH method, and sunscreen activity evaluation through SPF determination using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The research results show that the organoleptic properties of all formulations are semi-solid, with a white to yellowish color. The type of cream for all formulations is oil-in-water, and homogeneous. The pH values for FI, FII, and FIII are 6.37, 6.2, and 6.2, respectively (pvalue=0.017), the spreadability values are 5.94, 5.72, and 5.64 respectively (p=0.024), the viscosity values are 5635, 5339, and 5181, respectively (p<0.05), the antioxidant activity is indicated by IC50 values of 66.39, 24.50, and 56.45 respectively, while the SPF values are 0.95, 0.87, and 1.01 repectively. The resulting nanocream demonstrate favorable organoleptic characteristics, pH, homogeneity, spreadability, and viscosity meeting the required standards, with the highest antioxidant activity observed in FII and no significant sunscreen potential in any of the formulations.

Abstract

Gargarisma dapat digunakan untuk mencegah pertumbuhan bakteri di rongga mulut. Ekstrak daun jambu biji memiliki aktivitas antibakteri sehingga dapat digunakan sebagai bahan aktif dalam sediaan gargarisma. Dalam infunsa daun jambu biji mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder tannin. Tannin mampu menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri karena bereaksi dengan dinding sel bakteri sehingga mengakibatkan denaturasi protein pada bakteri. Sehingga infusa daun jambu biji memiliki potensi sebagai bahan aktif sediaan gargarisma. Sediaan gargarisma harus memiliki mutu sesuai dengan yang dipersyarakan agar aman digunakan. Pada penelitian ini akan diformulasikan gargarisma dengan bahan aktif infusa daun jambu biji. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui mutu fisik gargarisma ekstrak daun jambu biji yang meliputi uji organoleptis, homogenitas, kejernihan, uji volume terpindahkan, pH, uji berat jenis dan uji viskositas. Peneltian ini merupakan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Metode ektraksi yang digunakan adalah infundasi. Hasil penelitian uji organoleptis sediaan berbentuk larutan, berwarna coklat muda, rasa khas jambu biji diikuti rasa menthol dan beraroma daun jambu biji dan menthol. Sediaan homogen jernih bebas dari partikel asing, hasil uji volume terpindahkan adalah peyimpangan tidak melebihi 1%. Hasil uji pH sediaan pada rentang 6,57. Uji berat jenis sampel 1,0018 g/mL mendekati berat jenis air 1 g/ml dan uji viskositas 0.95492cP, mendekati viskositas air 1 cP.
