Abstract

KRAS is a GTPase enzyme that regulates cell growth and division. Mutations in KRAS can lead to its permanent activation, resulting in uncontrolled cell growth and cancer progression. Approximately 30–44% of colorectal cancer cases harbor KRAS mutations, with 1–3% involving the KRASG12C variant. Historically considered "undruggable," recent advancements, such as Sotorasib, have demonstrated the potential to target KRASG12C effectively, making it a promising focus for drug discovery. Moringa oleifera, a plant rich in phytochemicals, is a potential source of bioactive compounds with therapeutic applications. In this study, 218 compounds derived from M. oleifera were screened using molecular docking, targeting KRASG12C. Quercetin (3) exhibited the lowest binding affinity (-9.37 kcal/mol) and showed interactions with key residues, including GLN100A, VAL104A, LYS17A, and TYR97A, suggesting a binding mechanism similar to that of Sotorasib as native ligand. The physicochemical analysis further revealed high gastrointestinal absorption, good lipophilicity, and favorable bioavailability scores for Quercetin (3), supporting its potential as a drug candidate. These findings highlight the potential of M. oleifera compounds, particularly quercetin (3), as inhibitors of KRASG12C in colorectal cancer.

Abstract

Taman Hutan Raya Raden Soerjo merupakan salah satu kawasan konservasi yang menyimpan banyak sumber daya alam hayati berupa flora dan fauna, salah satunya adalah burung. Burung merupakan salah satu satwa yang dipergunakan sebagai penyeimbang ekosistem dan dapat dijadikan sebagai indikator kualitas hutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kelimpahan dan kesamaan serta status konservasi jenis burung di jalur jogging track dan jalur setapak menuju Gua Jepang Taman Hutan Raya Raden Soerjo, Jawa Timur. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 4-7 Februari 2019 dengan menggunakan metode Indices Ponctuel d’Abondance (IPA). Kelimpahan jenis burung ditentukan dengan menghitung Indeks Kelimpahan menggunakan rumus Van Balen (1984) dan menentukan indeks kesamaan menggunakan Indeks Kesamaan Sorensen. Status konservasi jenis burung ditentukan berdasarkan Peraturan Menteri Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan Republik Indonesia Nomor P.106 tentang jenis tumbuhan dan satwa yang dilindungi dan mengacu pada International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN). Hasil penelitian ditemukan sebanyak 215 individu dari 33 spesies dengan sebanyak 110 individu dari 17 spesies pada jalur menuju Gua Jepang dan sebanyak 105 individu dari 16 spesies pada jalur jogging track. Nilai indeks kelimpahan tertinggi pada jalur menuju Gua Jepang dan jogging track ditemukan pada spesies Cucak Kutilang (Pycnonotus aurigaster) dengan nilai berturut-turut sebesar 29% dan 27% dengan kategori dominan. Status konservasi jenis burung pada jalur Gua Jepang dan jalur Jogging Track terdapat 2 spesies dilindungi dengan status rentan adalah Luntur Harimau (Harpactes oreskios) dan Ciung-mungkal jawa (Chocoa azurea), 1 spesies tidak dilindungi dengan status hampir terancam adalah Takur tulung-tumpuk (Psilopogon javensis), dan 30 spesies tidak dilindungi dengan status berisiko kurang. Dari kedua jalur didapatkan indeks kesamaan sebesar 55% yang termasuk dalam kategori sedang.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Tuberculosis infection is a global health problem that occurs in almost every part of the world. HSPs are expressed by MTB when stimulated by stress in response to physiological pressure. We used PubMed, MDPI, and Scopus database to select eligible studied for systematic review published between January 1, 2019 and March 02, 2024. We investigated potential publication bias by examining quality assessment using the SCIRAP tool. From the articles reviewed, it was found that HSPs can play a role in TB infection both as therapeutic agents, biomarkers, and as new diagnostic agents to support the control of TB infection which is still an endemic infection. Types of HSPs that are known to play a role in TB infection are: HSPX, HSP16.3, HSP70, HSP27, and HSPR. This research concluded that HSPs are expressed by MTB under stress, and the expressed HSPs are then used as biomarker for effective diagnostic testing of TB infection, especially latent TB infection, as well as their development as therapeutic agent for making drugs for TB infection.
