Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe how the application of the Problem Based Learning model can be an effective solution in overcoming the problem of low student learning outcomes in science and science subjects in class V elementary schools. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. This research was carried out in Class V of SD Muhammadiyah T.A. 2024/2025. The results of the research show that the three main problems faced are low understanding of the material as reflected in the UTS results under KKM, lack of motivation and active involvement of students in learning which can be seen from their lack of enthusiasm, disorganization and lack of focus during lessons, and low student discipline which disrupts the creation of an atmosphere. conducive learning. Thus, the application of the Problem Based Learning model in science and science learning in elementary schools can be an effective solution to overcome low student learning outcomes and increase the learning motivation of fifth grade elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and implement the Pancasila Student Profile Improvement Project (P5) through traditional arts collaboration for 4th grade students of Muhammadiyah Elementary School 29 Sunggal. This study uses a qualitative method with a classroom action research (CAR) design by integrating the West Javanese angklung game and the North Sumatran Tor-Tor dance into learning. The location of the study was Muhammadiyah Elementary School 29 Sunggal, where the study was conducted on 4th grade students of the 2023/2024 academic year from January 2024 to June 2024. The subjects of this study were 25 4th grade students of Muhammadiyah Elementary School 29 Sunggal. The results of the study showed that the P5 project improved students' understanding of Pancasila values, especially mutual cooperation and tolerance through active involvement in collaborative activities and the positive impact on students' cultural understanding and character was very visible. The evaluation highlighted the importance of adding training sessions, improving technical guidance, and integrating cultural activities into the regular curriculum. In conclusion, this P5 project has improved students' skills and understanding of Indonesian culture and strengthened Pancasila values, which have the potential to be applied to other classes in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model supported by the Canva application in science learning for fifth-grade elementary school students, as well as its impact on students' critical thinking skills and conceptual understanding. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a case study design. The study was conducted in the fifth grade of UPT SD Negeri 060809 Medan Kota during the 2022/2023 academic year, involving 30 students and a teacher experienced in utilizing learning technology. Data were collected through observations and in-depth interviews, then analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The results show that the implementation of Problem Based Learning aided by Canva successfully increased student engagement in learning, developed critical thinking skills, and enhanced students’ understanding of scientific concepts such as environmental pollution. Furthermore, the use of Canva allowed students to present information creatively and interactively, which also contributed to the improvement of their communication skills. In conclusion, the Problem Based Learning model supported by technology such as Canva is not only effective in enhancing students' understanding of the material but also promotes collaboration and creativity. This study recommends the implementation of technology-based Problem Based Learning in science education as an innovative and relevant approach to address educational challenges in the digital era.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi pengaruh permainan congklak dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berhitung siswa kelas II Sekolah Dasar. Menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus, penelitian ini melibatkan siswa, guru, dan orang tua sebagai informan untuk mendapatkan pemahaman mendalam terkait interaksi antara permainan dan proses pembelajaran matematika. Populasi penelitian terdiri dari siswa kelas II SD Muhammadiyah 29 Sunggal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa permainan congklak efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berhitung siswa. Melalui permainan ini, siswa tidak hanya belajar menghitung dengan cara yang menyenangkan tetapi juga mengembangkan keterampilan sosial, berpikir kritis, dan strategi. Observasi dan wawancara menunjukkan bahwa siswa lebih terlibat dan antusias dalam pembelajaran matematika saat menggunakan congklak, serta mampu mengaitkan konsep matematika dengan situasi nyata. Kesimpulannya, permainan congklak bukan hanya alat pembelajaran yang menyenangkan tetapi juga berkontribusi pada perkembangan kognitif dan sosial siswa, menjadikannya inovasi yang berpotensi mengoptimalkan proses pembelajaran matematika di sekolah dasar

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Powtoon-assisted discovery learning model in increasing student interest in learning Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPAS) in sixth-grade elementary school. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method to observe and analyze the phenomena that occur during the implementation of the learning model. The subjects of this research are sixth-grade students at UPT SD Muhammadiyah 29 Sunggal, totaling 56 students and 2 teachers at the school.. The research results show that the use of Powtoon as a learning medium in the discovery learning model successfully increased students' interest in learning. Students became more active in participating in class discussions, increased their curiosity, and were more enthusiastic about the IPAS learning material. Student interaction with Powtoon media and the learning process also showed significant changes, where students engaged more in discussions and collaborated more in completing tasks. However, there are several obstacles, such as technical issues related to devices and internet connectivity that affect the smoothness of the learning process. The conclusion of this study is that the application of the Powtoon-assisted discovery learning model can enhance students' interest in learning IPAS, although attention needs to be given to technical obstacles and the readiness of infrastructure in schools.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat kedisiplinan siswa di UPT SD Negeri 060796 Medan serta mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi kedisiplinan tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai kedisiplinan siswa berada pada angka 7, yang masih tergolong cukup rendah untuk tingkat sekolah dasar. Faktor internal yang memengaruhi kedisiplinan meliputi rasa malas, kebosanan, dan kurangnya motivasi, sementara faktor eksternal meliputi pengaruh lingkungan, pendekatan guru, serta kurangnya perhatian dari orang tua. Guru memiliki peran sentral dalam membentuk kedisiplinan siswa melalui pemberian teladan, motivasi, serta penerapan reward dan sanksi yang tegas namun tidak bersifat fisik. Tantangan yang dihadapi guru meliputi rendahnya minat belajar siswa, pengaruh teman sebaya, dan inkonsistensi perilaku siswa. Untuk meningkatkan kedisiplinan, pendekatan psikologis seperti komunikasi efektif antara guru dan siswa sangat diperlukan. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa kedisiplinan siswa dapat ditingkatkan melalui kolaborasi antara guru, orang tua, dan lingkungan sekolah dalam menciptakan budaya disiplin yang konsisten.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate how the Problem Based Learning paradigm can help primary school pupils develop their critical thinking abilities. Five class instructors and twenty fifth-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah 29 Sunggal Elementary School participated in interviews, observations, and documentation as part of the qualitative descriptive methodology utilised to collect data. As demonstrated by the research findings, the Problem Based Learning significantly improves students' critical thinking abilities and increases their level of active engagement, opinion courage, and enthusiasm for learning. Even if there are obstacles to its implementation, like instructors' ignorance and a lack of resources, this study suggests that teachers should receive training and support from parents and associated organisations. It is anticipated that this study will give participants in initiatives to raise the standard of education in Indonesia fresh perspectives.

Abstract

This research aims investigates the role of North Sumatra's local culture in enhancing fifth-grade students’ mathematics skills, focusing on spatial geometry. The research addresses the issue of students’ low comprehension of spatial concepts in mathematics, highlighting the need for innovative approaches connected to everyday life. Using a qualitative case study method, the research involved fifth-grade students and teachers at SD Muhammadiyah 29 Sunggal and was conducted from July to September 2024.Findings reveal that incorporating local cultural elements into mathematics learning significantly improves students’ understanding and interest. By integrating examples like Batak traditional houses and Maimun Palace, students better grasp abstract geometric concepts by connecting them to familiar objects. This approach transforms abstract ideas into concrete and relatable learning experiences, facilitating comprehension. Observations and interviews indicate that students responded enthusiastically, actively participating in lessons and showing greater motivation to engage with mathematics. This method not only strengthens their spatial understanding but also enriches their educational experience by embedding valuable cultural knowledge. Thus, integrating local cultural contexts into mathematics education proves to be an effective strategy for improving learning outcomes while fostering appreciation for cultural heritage.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu menganalisis pengaruh penerapan Project Based Learning terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar dalam aspek kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotorik dan menggali tantangan yang dihadapi oleh guru dan siswa peluang yang dapat dimanfaatkan untuk memaksimalkan efektivitas model ini. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di UPT SDN 060809 Medan Kota pada Januari-Juni T.A. 2023/2024. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan signifikan dalam aspek kognitif, afektif, psikomotorik, serta keterampilan sosial dan kerja kelompok siswa kelas setelah penerapan model Project Based Learning. Project Based Learning tidak hanya membantu siswa memahami dan mengaplikasikan konsep yang dipelajari, tetapi juga meningkatkan motivasi, sikap positif, keterampilan praktis, dan kemampuan bekerja sama dalam kelompok.
