Abstract

Learning media plays an important role in supporting the success of the learning process, especially in developing students' critical thinking skills. This study aimed to develop mobile learning media with the theme of the One-Horned Rhinoceros, an endemic animal typical of Ujung Kulon National Park, as a contextual learning tool to improve elementary school students' critical thinking skills in ecosystem material. The method used is Research and Development (RD) with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The study results showed that the media was developed to analyze student needs and local context through an interactive design process, expert validation, and classroom trials and evaluations. The validation results showed a feasibility level of 91% (very good category). The effectiveness of the media is reflected in the N-Gain value of 0.7171 (high category). The responses of teachers and students to the media were also very positive, 87% and 98.7% respectively. In conclusion, the product developed is feasible and effective and can improve students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Mathematics plays a crucial role as a foundation for the development of other sciences One of the topics that often triggers misconceptions among elementary school students is geometry, particularly the concept of circles. This study aims to map the forms of student misconceptions related to the concept of circles, identify their causes, and find effective solutions to address them. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach and was conducted at SDIT Raudhatul Jannah with Grade 6A students as the subjects. Data were collected through written tests, interviews, and observations. The findings reveal that misconceptions about the concept of circles include errors in applying formulas (confusion between area and circumference) and uncertainty in choosing the value of π (22/7 or 3.14). Students tend to memorize formulas without understanding their conceptual meanings, leading to frequent mistakes when solving problems. Moreover, students struggle to differentiate between circumference as the circular boundary length and area as the space within the circle. The lack of visual and concrete teaching aids exacerbates these misconceptions.  To address these issues, a learning approach based on visual and manipulative tools is needed, such as using diagrams or circular objects, accompanied by discussions that explain the use of π values in specific contexts. This strategy is expected to help students develop a deeper understanding of the concepts. By employing a real-world contextual approach, student misconceptions can be minimized, thereby enhancing their comprehension of geometry, particularly the concept of circles, in a more holistic manner.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out how the philosophical foundations of education view student character education. As an educational institution, schools are not only tasked with educating students and creating a good learning environment, but are also expected to develop good character in students. If in relation to learning, national education must be accessible to students, then schools must also be able to shape students' characters better. We know that students are great imitators of adults, positive attitudes, let alone negative attitudes, are easy for students to imitate. Therefore, teachers must always show good character to their students, and the nation's prospective students are expected to have good character in addition to cognitive intelligence. The research method uses a library research approach, where previous research is summarized from library sources, documents and scientific journals. The information collected is analyzed to achieve in-depth understanding through library research by processing and collecting various types of secondary data from the surrounding environment. This philosophical foundation becomes a guideline that guides the creation of a comprehensive character education program, including ontological, epistemological and axiological aspects. The philosophical foundation thus not only provides a conceptual basis, but also a practical basis that guides the implementation of character education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of interactive learning media themed on the One-Horned Rhinoceros in the ecosystem subject to meet the learning needs of 5th-grade elementary school students. The media is designed to accommodate various learning styles, including visual, auditory, and kinesthetic, through the use of images, sounds, and motor activities. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach, where data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The results show that the interactive learning media significantly improved students' understanding of the ecosystem material. The majority of students demonstrated full and partial comprehension through self-assessments provided by the media. Additionally, students with different learning styles felt more engaged in the learning process. Teachers also found the media beneficial as it helped convey complex material in a more enjoyable and interactive way. In conclusion, the interactive learning media themed on the One-Horned Rhinoceros effectively meets the learning needs of 5th-grade students, while also enhancing student engagement and understanding of the ecosystem material.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out how technology-based teaching materials influence students' critical thinking abilities when studying the properties of light in science. This research is using experimental method. The experimental method was chosen because it allows researchers to control all the variables involved and determine the cause-and-effect relationship between the use of technology-based teaching materials and increasing students' critical thinking abilities. The research results show the effectiveness of using technology-based teaching materials. The statistical table shows that the average post-test score for the experimental class was 81.25, while the control class obtained an average score of 66.88. This indicates that students who learn with technology-based teaching materials have better critical thinking skills compared to students who use conventional learning methods. Thus, there is a significant influence of the use of technology-based teaching materials on students' critical thinking abilities. Implementation of this strategy not only improves learning outcomes but also motivates students through learning methods that are more interesting and relevant to current technological developments.
