Abstract

Neonatal mortality, particularly caused by low birth weight (LBW) infants, remains a significant health issue in many countries. This study aims to improve the quality of care for LBW infants through education for parents and the involvement of posyandu cadres in Dusun Pengadok, Desa Mantang. The methods used included providing education on LBW infant care techniques, such as kangaroo care and exclusive breastfeeding, as well as enhancing the role of posyandu cadres in monitoring and supporting families. The results of the community service showed a significant increase in the average weight gain of infants after the intervention, as well as improvements in care practices by parents. Furthermore, the involvement of posyandu cadres in monitoring the infant's development on a regular basis proved to be effective in improving care quality. Although there were some challenges, such as time constraints for working parents, these results demonstrate that collaboration between parents and posyandu cadres can improve the quality of care for LBW infants and potentially reduce infant mortality rates. This program provides an important contribution to improving the health of LBW infants and can be replicated in other areas with similar issues.

Abstract

Emesis gravidarum is a common condition in first-trimester pregnant women, characterized by nausea and vomiting due to hormonal changes, such as increased levels of estrogen and HCG. This condition can affect maternal and fetal health, potentially leading to dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, and even preterm birth. This study aims to optimize the management of emesis gravidarum through education and non-pharmacological therapy in Dusun Ceret, Desa Mantang, Kecamatan Batukliang, Lombok Tengah. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach with purposive sampling, involving 20 first-trimester pregnant women. Interventions include small-group education sessions and non-pharmacological therapies such as relaxation techniques, acupressure, and dietary modifications. Data were collected through questionnaires and observations and analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The results showed an increase in participants' understanding from 60% to 80% and a reduction in the intensity of emesis gravidarum symptoms. This intervention proved effective in improving the quality of life for pregnant women and can serve as a guideline for healthcare providers in delivering community-based services. In conclusion, educational and non-pharmacological therapy approaches can effectively assist pregnant women in managing emesis gravidarum, supporting maternal and fetal health.

Abstract

Pregnancy and childbirth can develop into pathological conditions that pose risks to the health of mothers and fetuses, especially in high-risk pregnancies. The 4T factors in pregnancy (too young, too old, too many children, too close birth spacing) significantly contribute to complications such as bleeding, miscarriage, and fetal death, as well as an increase in maternal mortality rates (MMR). In Indonesia, 34% of pregnant women experience high-risk pregnancies, with MMR reaching 22.4% in 4T pregnancy cases. This study aims to improve pregnant women's knowledge about pregnancy risks through community-based education in Dusun Dasan Baru. A descriptive-analytic quantitative approach was employed, involving 50 pregnant women aged 18–45 years. The education sessions were conducted in three sessions, followed by evaluations using pre-test and post-test questionnaires. Results showed an increase in maternal knowledge from 60% (pre-test) to 87% (post-test).

Abstract

Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in pregnant women is a significant nutritional issue in Indonesia, including in Dusun Tundung, Desa Mantang, NTB, with a prevalence of 17% in the first trimester of pregnancy. Addressing CED through nutritional education and community empowerment is crucial to reduce the risk of pregnancy complications. The aim of this study is to improve the nutritional status of pregnant women and reduce the prevalence of CED through nutrition-based interventions. The method used is descriptive-qualitative with active community participation. The subjects of the study were 25 pregnant women at risk of CED. The results showed an average weight gain of 1.5-2 kg, an increase in the proportion of pregnant women with normal nutritional status from 40% to 68%, and a decrease in the prevalence of CED from 28% to 12%. Active family participation in preparing nutritious menus and the use of audiovisual educational media played a key role in the success of the program. In conclusion, community-based nutrition education programs are effective in improving the nutritional status of pregnant women and reducing the prevalence of CED in high-risk areas.

Abstract

Menopause is a natural phase experienced by every woman, marked by the cessation of menstruation and significant hormonal changes. The perimenopausal process can affect both physical and psychological conditions, often causing symptoms such as hot flashes, sleep disturbances, and feelings of anxiety. In Mantang Village, Batukliang District, this community service program aims to provide holistic support for women aged 40-55 who are experiencing perimenopause. A participatory approach is used to actively involve the community in education about physical and psychological changes, as well as symptom management. Activities include group education, individual counseling, and workshops on symptom management using relaxation techniques and healthy eating habits. A total of 26 participants took part in this program, and evaluations through pretests, posttests, and in-depth interviews showed a significant improvement in participants' understanding of perimenopause and their ability to manage symptoms. The educational calendar provided was also proven effective as a daily reminder tool. These results indicate that structured interventions can improve the quality of life for perimenopausal women and provide essential emotional support in navigating this transition.
