Abstract

Abstrak. This literature review aims to describe the management of direct implementation of guidanceand counseling (GC) services in schools, focusing on individual counseling and group counseling.Relevant journal articles and scientific sources were examined to identify how both services areplanned, implemented, evaluated, and followed up by school counselors. The findings indicatethat individual counseling is conducted through face-to-face interaction that allows counselors toexplore students’ personal issues in depth, whereas group counseling relies on group dynamics asa medium for sharing experiences and providing social support. Although both services followsimilar stages, their implementation still encounters challenges such as limited service time, animbalanced counselor–student ratio, and program planning that is not yet fully structured. Thereview also reveals that previous studies tend to emphasize the effectiveness of counselingtechniques rather than the managerial aspects of service delivery. Therefore, improvements inservice management are needed to ensure that individual and group counseling can operate moresystematically and meet students developmental needs.
