Abstract

This bibliometric analysis delves into the expansive landscape of research where Islam intersects with sustainable development, covering the period from 1991 to 2023. The dataset, comprising 586 documents from 354 sources, signifies a dynamic and rapidly growing field, with an impressive annual growth rate of 11.44%. The relatively low average document age of 5.08 years highlights the contemporary nature of the research, while the high average citations per document (5.795) and substantial reference count (25,019) underscore the field's influence and interconnected character. Key contributors include Malaysia, with 369 articles, and Indonesia with 269 articles, emphasizing their leadership roles. The USA emerges as the most cited country, with 284 total citations, reflecting its significant impact. The global collaboration map highlights Malaysia as a central hub, collaborating notably with Indonesia, Bangladesh, and the USA, illustrating the collaborative nature of research in this area. Trending topics reveal a shift towards holistic themes like environmental protection, ethics, and public health. The enduring presence of keywords such as "sustainable development" and "Islam" underscores central themes, providing valuable insights into the evolving discourse. These discoveries have important ramifications for scientific education, strengthening tactics and curriculum via a deeper comprehension of sustainable development in Islamic contexts. This research fosters a more comprehensive approach to sustainability education by addressing global concerns with cultural and religious components and bridging multidisciplinary barriers by clearly highlighting these links. This increases the study's applicability to a wide variety of multidisciplinary audiences, such as academics, educators, and decision-makers who want to improve scientific education within Islamic contexts.

Abstract

This study uses bibliometric techniques to evaluate the scientific output of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS), addressing a common challenge for regional universities: limited global visibility. Despite demonstrating strong research productivity, with 1,389 publications from 2004 to 2022, UMS's influence remains primarily regional, as evidenced by a high concentration of local citations. By analyzing citation metrics, co-authorship networks, and publication trends, this study sheds light on UMS's strengths and areas for development. The findings show that UMS excels in fields like public health and engineering, supported by partnerships with institutions in Malaysia and the UK. However, fields such as social sciences and education have lower international citation rates. This research highlights the need for UMS to pursue interdisciplinary collaborations, broaden its network beyond Southeast Asia, and aim for publication in high-impact journals to enhance its global presence. By providing strategic recommendations, this study contributes to knowledge on regional university research performance, suggesting future analyses that incorporate additional databases and multilingual data for a more comprehensive view of UMS’s contributions to the global academic community.

Abstract

This study examines the evolving landscape of formative assessment in primary and secondary education through bibliometric analysis, emphasizing theoretical foundations, technological integration, and global applications. A total of 398 documents from the Scopus database (1997–2024) were analyzed using Biblioshiny for R, with an annual growth rate of 14.74%. Key metrics such as keyword co-occurrence, thematic clusters, and global collaboration networks were evaluated to identify prevailing research trends and gaps. The results highlight significant themes, including feedback mechanisms, self-assessment, peer assessment, and the integration of digital technologies like e-learning, gamification, and artificial intelligence. Collaboration patterns reveal the USA, China, and Germany as research hubs, while Southeast Asia demonstrates regional efforts. However, barriers such as inconsistent definitions, limited teacher training, and technological inequities persist. This study contributes novel insights by bridging critical gaps in the literature, particularly the lack of cultural perspectives and underexplored non-traditional educational contexts. It combines bibliometric analysis with thematic insights to illuminate the transformative potential of formative assessment across diverse educational settings. Educators and policymakers can use these findings to develop regionally tailored strategies for formative assessment, addressing implementation challenges and promoting effective practices globally. By fostering personalized learning and equitable access, formative assessment supports inclusive education, narrowing disparities across various learner demographics.
