Abstract

Classroom management skills of prospective English as a second language (EFL) teachers are inseparable. Professionalism requires a balance between theoretical education in the classroom and real-world experience. This article aims to analyze the perceptions of pre-service EFL teachers during the Kampus Mengajar program. Three alumni of the 7th batch of pre-service EFL teachers who teach in Junior High Schools were purposively selected as the subjects of this study. This study used a descriptive qualitative design. To collect data, semi-structured interviews were used. The data analysis of this study used the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The results of the study showed that pre-service EFL teachers had positive perceptions during the Kampus Mengajar program. However, there were also many challenges faced by the participants during Kampus Mengajar, namely (1) Difficulty in instructional materials, (2) student motivation, (3) technology integration, and (4) busy teacher schedules. In addition, there were also several strategies used by the participants to overcome these obstacles, such as maximizing preparation before teaching, using appropriate teaching strategies and technology integration, and having good teaching aids. Despite all that, the Kampus Mengajar program is recommended to be implemented as one way to improve faculty accreditation scores, an evaluation tool for the Independent Curriculum and an authentic experience for pre-service EFL teachers in the reality of school life.

Abstract

This study explores EFL students' perceptions of using Quizizz as an assessment tool in Basic Reading class and examines its correlation with their reading proficiency. A survey was conducted among 25 students using a closed-ended questionnaire, and their reading proficiency was assessed using final test scores. The findings reveal that students generally have a positive perception of Quizizz, particularly in terms of its interactive features, motivation enhancement, and immediate feedback. Correlation analysis indicates a significant relationship between students' perceptions and their reading proficiency, suggesting that higher engagement with Quizizz is associated with better reading outcomes. However, some technical difficulties and accessibility challenges were noted, emphasizing the need for additional training and support. The study concludes that integrating Quizizz in reading instruction enhances student engagement and proficiency, though further research is needed to explore long-term effects and broader implementation strategies.

Abstract

Bali termasuk provinsi yang memiliki jumlah lansia yang tinggi berdasarkan hasil data Survei Sosial Ekonomi Nasional (SUSENAS) pada tahun 2017. Terlebih lagi lansia belum cukup mendapatkan akses pelayanan kesehatan yang ramah bagi mereka, terutama pada daerah terpencil, serta adanya pemikiran yang menganggap isu ini sebagai hal biasa. Bali menjadi daerah yang cukup strategis sebagai tempat dibangunnya Rumah Sakit Khusus Lansia, maka sangat diperlukan adanya Rumah Sakit Khusus Lansia untuk meningkatkan akses pelayanan kesehatan yang ramah lansia di wilayah Bali, serta tidak menutup kemungkinan pelayanan kesehatan untuk wilayah Indonesia Timur. Lokasi rumah sakit dipilih di Kabupaten Badung, dengan menggunakan tema arsitektur neo vernakular dengan konsep Wellness and Healing Architecture. Pengumpulan data melalui pengamatan di lapangan, dilanjutkan dengan kajian pustaka yang terkait dengan rumah sakit, kemudian dilaksanakan studi preseden pada arsitektur rumah sakit lansia dan pelayanan geriatri. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengolahan data berupa analisa data, sintesa, dan transformasi. Hasil rancangan rumah sakit khusus lansia dengan penerapan empat prinsip arsitektur neo vernakular, yakni : (1) hubungan langsung dengan penerapan arsitektur setempat (prinsip arsitektur tradisional Bali) yang disesuaikan dengan fungsi dari bangunan rumah sakit khusus lansia; (2) hubungan abstrak dengan penerapan interpretasi budaya (konsep dan filosofi arsitektur tradisional Bali) ke dalam rancangan rumah sakit khusus lansia; (3) hubungan lansekap dengan penerapan interpretasi lingkungan dalam bentuk dan orientasi massa bangunan rumah sakit khusus lansia; (4) hubungan kontemporer dengan penerapan teknologi, material, dan bentuk yang sesuai dengan program rumah sakit khusus lansia.
