Abstract

In Indonesia, especially in Kalimantan, many oil palm plants (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) are found. The potential of this plant has not been fully exploited. A number of tests have been carried out, namely as an antioxidant, burn wound, larvicide and antibacterial. This research was conducted to identify the analgesic effectiveness of oil palm leaf extract (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) on white mice (mus musculus) given acetic acid. The extraction method used is meseration. The analgesic test uses a chemical stimulation method. 25 mice were divided into 5 groups (negative group Na CMC 0.5%, positive group Paracetamol, dose I 100 mg/kgBW, dose II 300 mg/kgBW, dose III 500 mg/kgBW). Each group was treated orally, after 30 minutes they were given 1% acetic acid intraperitoneally, then the total number of wriths, percent protection and one way ANOVA test were calculated. The experimental results showed that the positive control percent protection was 57.44%, dose I was 34.78%, dose II was 52.10%, and dose III was 70.87%. The results of the one way ANOVA test analysis showed significant differences between each treatment group except for dose II 300 mg/kgBB. It can be concluded that the ethanol extract of oil palm leaves (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) has effectiveness as an analgesic and at dose II 300 mg/kgBW is the most effective dose because it is close to the percent protection of the positive control (Paracetamol).

Abstract: The death rate due to Antimicrobial Resistance continues to increase from year to year. The importance of awareness of antimicrobial resistance and the need for concrete preventive measures has encouraged the global community to take part in commemorating World Antimicrobial Awareness Week. This counseling aims to increase public knowledge regarding prevention, infection transmission, microbial resistance, and DAGUSIBU antibiotics. Visitors came from residents who were in Polewali Village as many as 19 people. From the results of the pretest, the average percentage that answered well was 5%, and after the presentation showed an increase to 68%. This shows that there has been an increase in improvement from before, and this also shows that the material presented can be well understood by the public. This community service activity in Polewali Village has had a positive impact in increasing awareness, and knowledge and changing community behavior regarding antimicrobial resistance.

Abstract

Unpleasant sensory and emotional experiences arising from injury or damage to organs are often referred to as pain. Synthetic drugs are often used to treat the pain but often cause harmful side effects. Cat whisker leaves (Orthosiphon stamineus Benth) and celery leaves (Apium graveolens) are often an alternative choice of treatment for pain because they have potential as analgesics. The purpose of this study was to determine the analgesic effect of a combination of ethanol extracts of cat's whiskers and celery leaves on male mice (Mus musculus) using acetic acid as an inducer with a combination dose of 1:1, 1:5 and 5:1. The research is experimental using the writhing test method followed by data analysis including normality, homogeneity, one-way anova and LSD post hoc tests. The results obtained from the study showed that the analgesic effectiveness of the three doses of the combination was greater than the positive control of paracetamol, with a ratio of 2.9 times for combination I, 2.7 times for combination II and the largest comparison was in combination III which was 3 times with the highest percent protection of 74.64%. So it can be concluded that the combination of ethanol extracts of cat whisker leaves and celery leaves has an effect as an analgesic and can inhibit pain better than paracetamol.

Abstract

Abstract

Gout is a non-communicable disease whose prevalence continues to increase, particularly among the elderly. The treatment using medicinal plants has become widely known to the public, one of which involves kasturi leaves, which are known to contain flavonoids, alkaloids, and tannins that are potentially effective as antihyperuricemic agents. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of extract of kasturi leaves in reducing uric acid levels in Mus musculus. The research employed a true experimental design with a pre-and post-test control group approach. A total of 25 mice were divided into five groups: a negative control group (Na-CMC 1%), a positive control group (allopurinol), and three treatment groups with extract doses of 3 mg/kgBW, 6 mg/kgBW, and 9 mg/kgBW. Hyperuricemia was induced using chicken liver for 7 days. Afterward, the extract was administered for another 7 days, and uric acid levels were measured before and after treatment using the Glucometer tool. The data were analyzed using ANOVA. The results showed that dose 1st reduced uric acid by 21.56%, dose 2nd by 27.15%, and dose 3th by 38.88%. Based on these findings, the ethanol extract of casturi leaves was proven effective in lowering uric acid levels and comparable to allopurinol. Statistically, dose III had a significantly different effect from the negative control and was not significantly different from allopurinol (p> 0.05). It can be concluded that the ethanol extract of casturi leaves at a dose of 9 mg/gBW has the most effective antihyperuricemic activity. The calculated ED50 value was 13.20 mg/gBW.
