Abstract

Caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorder experience psychological pressure, which can affect their psychological well-being. This study aims to identify the personality traits which influence such well-being. A quantitative method was employed, involving 213 Indonesian participants who were caregivers of children with autism attending special schools or enrolled at specialized therapy centers, selected through purposive sampling. The personality traits were measured using the IPIP-BFM-25 scale, while psychological well-being was assessed using the Psychological Well-Being Scale. The data were analyzed using the PLS-SEM method with SMART PLS 3.0 software, employing the disjoint two-stage estimation approach. The results show that the traits of extroversion (β = 0.222, t = 2.249, p = .021); conscientiousness (β = 0.258, t = 2.782, p = .003); and emotional stability (β = 0.302, t = 4.371, p = .000) positively affected the caregivers’ psychological well-being. However, those of agreeableness and intellect did not have a significant impact. It is hoped that the study findings will contribute to the efforts to enhance the mental health of caregivers of children with autism.

Abstract

The community in Kota Bharu, particularly the asnaf group, plays a crucial role in improving their quality of life. They possess the capacity to act as agents of change in reducing poverty within their community. This study aims to explore how these agents implement strategies to enhance economic and social well-being through community development projects, using Bandura’s theory of agency as a theoretical framework. A qualitative research approach was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews with participants to examine their business plans and monitor the outcomes of their entrepreneurial projects. Participants were selected through purposive sampling and were supervised over a period of time to assess their level of community development. The findings indicate that community members are able to apply Bandura’s agency framework in mitigating poverty within their communities. By adapting a development module based on the four components of Bandura’s agency, participants successfully improved their well-being and contributed to sustainable economic development. Furthermore, this study identifies several critical phases essential for ensuring the continuity of their efforts in overcoming future business challenges. Ultimately, the study aligns with the first United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 1) by contributing to poverty alleviation among marginalized populations.

Abstract

Recurrent severe floods in Kelantan, Malaysia, pose significant and lasting challenges to the psychological and emotional well-being of affected communities. Addressing this critical need, this study focuses on developing an evidence-based psychosocial intervention framework and preparedness guidelines, specifically designed to enhance emotional management and multi-dimensional resilience among flood victims. The research employs a qualitative design, utilizing semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions with flood victims from diverse districts in Kelantan, selected through purposive and snowball sampling to capture rich, contextualized data. The primary objective of this research is to construct actionable preparedness guidelines rooted in emotional and resilience cultivation for future flood events. To achieve this, the study thoroughly examines the emotional resilience of flood-affected communities, elaborates on the diverse forms of community resilience demonstrated, and identifies and analyzes existing emotional management strategies and resilience mechanisms within a comprehensive multi-dimensional framework encompassing psychosocial, spiritual, and behavioral dimensions. The findings show that adaptive strategies are employed by victims, highlighting a crucial interplay between individual emotional fortitude and collective community resilience. This research culminates in a practical, culturally sensitive intervention framework aimed at enhancing the psychological well-being and preparedness of flood victims. By contributing significantly to disaster mental health and community resilience building, this study underscores the importance of holistic approaches in fostering sustainable recovery and alleviating the long-term psychosocial burden of natural disasters within the "Health and Well-Being" discourse.

Abstract

The concept of Sosialisasi Hikmah offers a valuable framework for understanding how Islamic values are transmitted, internalized, and manifested within individual, family, and community contexts. Rooted in the multifaceted Islamic notion of hikmah (wisdom), this framework integrates Aqidah (belief), Syariah (practice), and Akhlak (ethics) to guide holistic human development. Drawing on both Islamic teachings and Western social psychological theories of socialization, this study investigates how faith-based principles shape identity, moral reasoning, and community engagement among Muslim communities in Malaysia's East Coast. Using a quantitative design, the study employed a structured questionnaire to measure five key constructs: Kepercayaan Agama (religious belief), Cara Hidup (religious lifestyle), Adab (ethical conduct), Individu Muslim, and Keluarga Muslim. A stratified random sample of 300 respondents from Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang participated. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression were conducted using SPSS. Findings revealed high internalization of Islamic values across constructs, with Adab emerging as the only statistically significant predictor of Sosialisasi Hikmah (β = 0.924, p < 0.001). In contrast, Kepercayaan Agama and Cara Hidup were not significant predictors despite their high mean scores. The regression model accounted for 84.5% of the variance in Sosialisasi Hikmah, emphasizing the centrality of ethical character in promoting communal wisdom and cohesion. These results highlight that while belief and ritual practice are foundational, it is ethical behavior; respect, humility, compassion, and responsibility that transforms individual piety into socially impactful wisdom. The study recommends that educational and community development programs prioritize character formation alongside doctrinal instruction. By emphasizing Adab, stakeholders can cultivate ethically grounded individuals who contribute to resilient, harmonious communities aligned with Islam's holistic vision of well-being.
