Abstract

To date, the husk waste generated from post-harvest processing has been discarded without any subsequent processing for use or commercial value. In light of this phenomena, it is imperative to instruct the farmers of Kepur Village on the conversion of husk waste into husk charcoal, enabling its reutilization as an organic fertilizer integrated with planting medium. The service will be implemented in three phases: trials, counseling, and training.The trial results of the husk charcoal manufacturing equipment demonstrate that in one production process, 25 kg of dry husk raw material is required and generates an average of 19.67 kg, resulting in a total loss of 21.32%. If converted into rupiah, with an investment of IDR 25,000, dry husks will yield IDR 98,350 in one production phase.

Abstract

This article discusses the implementation of sustainable education (Education for Sustainable Development, ESD) in managing organic waste in two schools, SMPN 1 Lawang Kidul and SMPN 1 Ujan Mas. Activities include material counseling, compost making practices, as well as evaluation using pretest and posttest methods to measure increases in student knowledge. The results showed a significant increase in students' knowledge level after the activity. Of the 30 participants at SMPN 1 Lawang Kidul, there was an increase of 121%. Meanwhile, the 37 participants at SMPN 1 Ujan Mas achieved an average increase in knowledge of 42.78%. This is because students at SMPN 1 Ujan Mas have higher initial knowledge abilities compared to students at SMPN 1 Lawang Kidul. This research highlights the importance of ESD in increasing students' environmental awareness and making a positive contribution to organic waste management practices in schools.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis besaran pendapatan yang diterima oleh petani, mengetahui tingkat kesejahteraan petani dan mengetahui pengaruh program Kerjasama industri kentang terhadap tingkat kesejahteraan petani  kentang di Kecamatan Semende Darat Tengah Kabupaten Muara Enim. Metode yang digunakan adalah sequential mixed methods dan strategi eksplanatoris sekuensial. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode survey kuesioner dan wawancara. Pemilihan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rerata  pendapatan yang diperoleh petani kentang di Kecamatan Semende Darat Tengah lebih Sejahtera yaitu adalah sebesar 61,408,750/ha/tahun. Hal ini sebanding dengan tingkat kesejahteraan petani kentang di Kecamatan Semende Darat Tengah yang lebih Sejahtera yaitu sebesar 0,68 atau (GSR<1). Selain itu, program kerjasama industri tidak berpengaruh terhadap kesejahteraan petani kentang mitra dan non mitra di Kecamatan Semende Darat Tengah.

Abstract

Desa Tanjung Jati, Kabupaten Muara Enim, menghadapi tantangan dalam produktivitas pertanian akibat keterbatasan ketersediaan air selama musim kemarau. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan dan mendampingi petani dalam mengadopsi metode budidaya padi apung sebagai solusi inovatif. Kegiatan dilaksanakan melalui tiga tahapan: penyuluhan, praktik langsung, dan evaluasi hingga panen. Penyuluhan memberikan edukasi mengenai konsep dasar padi apung, diikuti dengan praktik pembuatan rakit apung berbahan sterofoam berukuran 1x1 meter. Media tanam terdiri dari campuran pupuk organik, sekam bakar, dan tanah, dengan bibit padi yang disemai selama 10 hari sebelum pindah tanam. Evaluasi dilakukan dengan mengendalikan gulma dan pemupukan menggunakan larutan ecoenzyme. Hasil panen pada usia 110 hari menunjukkan produktivitas sebesar 150 gram gabah kering per rakit, yang diproyeksikan mencapai 1,5 ton gabah kering per hektar. Metode ini terbukti aplikatif dan potensial untuk meningkatkan produktivitas padi serta memberdayakan petani secara berkelanjutan.

Abstract

The role of extension workers in the agricultural sector is as an advisor, technician, liaison, organizer of funds for renewal agents. The potential of agriculture and plantations in Semende Raya is very promising to be used as a center for the superior potato industry in Muara Enim with a production of 4,523.5 tons in 2022. The role of extension workers in assisting potato farmers is very much needed in order to increase potato production which can ultimately improve the welfare of potato farmers which can be seen from the increase in the standard of living and income of farmers. The objectives of the study were: 1) Analyze agricultural extension workers 2) Calculate the income of potato farmers 3) Analyze the Influence of the Role of Agricultural Extension Workers on the Income Level of Potato Farmers in Rekimai Jaya Village, Semende Darat Tengah District, Muara Enim Regency. The study was conducted in October-December 2024. The location was selected intentionally (purposively) with the consideration that in Rekimai Jaya village agricultural extension is carried out continuously and the potato agribusiness system. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded as follows: 1) The role of extension workers with a class interval of 29-36, a frequency of 20, a percentage of 100%, the level of the role of extension workers is included in the very important category; 2) The average income is Rp. 126,675,000, - and the average income is Rp. 82,881,250, -; 3) The role of extension workers has a positive relationship with the income of potato farmers, although this relationship is relatively weak with a correlation coefficient value of R = 0.371R . The value of R2 = 0.137R ^ 2.

Abstract

Program penyuluhan dan pelatihan budidaya hidroponik dilaksanakan di Kelurahan Muara Enim, Kabupaten Muara Enim, dengan tujuan memberikan edukasi kepada ibu rumah tangga tentang teknik budidaya hidroponik dan peluang wirausaha. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 10 peserta yang diberikan materi penyuluhan, pelatihan langsung, serta evaluasi berupa pretest dan posttest. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta, dengan rata-rata skor meningkat dari 7,5 menjadi 19,2 setelah pelatihan. Uji statistik membuktikan perbedaan yang signifikan antara pretest dan posttest (p < 0,05). Peserta juga menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi dan keyakinan untuk menerapkan pengetahuan secara mandiri. Program ini memberikan dampak positif terhadap pemberdayaan masyarakat dan potensi ekonomi rumah tangga melalui wirausaha hidroponik. Pendekatan yang digunakan terbukti efektif dan dapat diadaptasi untuk wilayah lain dengan karakteristik serupa.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan siswa SMAN 1 Muara Enim dalam mengelola limbah organik menjadi pupuk organik menggunakan teknologi sederhana berupa komposter bin. Metode yang digunakan meliputi penyuluhan, pelatihan praktik langsung, serta evaluasi menggunakan instrumen pretest dan posttest kepada 36 peserta. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan yang signifikan setelah pelatihan. Nilai rata-rata pretest adalah 23,53 dan meningkat menjadi 32,67 pada posttest, hal ini menunjukkan terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan siswa sebesar 27,98%. Uji t berpasangan menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan (t = -6,805, p < 0,001), yang menandakan bahwa pelatihan berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman peserta tentang pengolahan limbah organik. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat mendorong praktik ramah lingkungan di sekolah serta menjadi langkah awal menuju budaya daur ulang yang berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Edible films are thin layers used to coat food products and can be consumed along with the product itself. Previous studies have utilized purple yam starch as a base material for edible films; however, these films exhibit limitations in terms of mechanical and barrier properties. This study aims to utilize purple yam mucilage to improve the mechanical and barrier properties of purple yam starch-based edible films.  The experimental design employed a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with five ratios of water to purple yam mucilage (1:0.5, 1:1, 1:1.5, 1:2, and 1:2.5). The results showed that increasing the proportion of purple yam mucilage improved the mechanical and barrier properties of the edible films, while reducing their solubility in water to as low as 33.23%.  The best film characteristics were achieved at a ratio of 1:2.5, with a thickness of 0.14 mm, a compressive strength of 3.73 × 10⁻⁴ MPa, a water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) of 21.94 g/m²·day, a transparency value of 8.33 %T/mm, and a solubility of 33.23%.
