Abstract

Abstrak : Persepsi Guru tentang Kecerdasan Emosional Kepala Sekolah Terhadap Kinerja Guru. Populasi penelitian adalah guru-guru SMK Negeri Kota Medan sebanyak 328 orang. Sampel penelitian sejumlah 76 orang yang diambil secara Stratified Proportional Random Sampling. Metode penelitian adalah kuantitatif jenis deskriptif studi korelasional. Instrumen pengumpulan untuk semua variabel menggunakan angket berskala Likert.Untuk mengumpulkan data digunakan angket. Untuk persyaratan analisis dilakukan uji validitas dan uji reliabilitas. Untuk menguji hipotesis yang diajukan dalam penelitian ini, digunakan teknik korelasi sederhana. Berdasarkan pengujian hipotesis dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang positif dan berarti antara : persepsi guru tentang kecerdasan emosional kepala sekolah terhadap kinerja guru, korelasi rhitung > rtabel (0,397 > 0,227) dan thitung > ttabel (3,720 > 1,67), maka dapat dikatakan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang positif dan berarti antara persepsi guru tentang kecerdasan emosional kepala sekolah terhadap kinerja guru dapat diterima dan diuji kebenarannya.Kepala sekolah disarankan untuk memperbaiki kecerdasan emosional untuk mengambil kebijakan, sehingga semua kebijakan dapat mengurangi masalah yang muncul dalam manajemen sekolah.Kata kunci : persepsi, kecerdasan emosional, kinerja

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of video-based tutorials and interactive media in improving the practical readiness of Culinary Arts students in the 4th Semester in table settings at Medan State University. This study addresses the challenges of improving students' practical skills in a structured learning environment, especially during distance or hybrid learning conditions, by integrating technology into traditional culinary education. A quasi-experimental research design was used involving 5 Semester 4 students enrolled in the Table Setting course. Participants were divided into control and experimental groups. The experimental group received learning through video tutorials and interactive media, while the control group received conventional face-to-face instruction. Data were collected using pre-test and post-test practical assessments, observational checklists, and student self-perception questionnaires. Statistical analysis, including paired t-tests and descriptive statistics, was conducted to compare perceived skill development and readiness between groups. Results showed that students exposed to video-based and interactive learning showed a significant improvement in practical readiness compared to the control group (p < 0.05). Observational assessments showed improved accuracy in table setting, proper application of table manners, and overall efficiency during practical exercises. Students also report higher confidence and readiness for practical assessments. The study highlights the potential of integrating digital media into culinary education to improve the acquisition of practical skills. Limitations include a single institution sample and short duration of interventions, which may affect the generalization of findings. This study provides empirical evidence supporting the use of video tutorials and interactive media in culinary arts education. Future research can explore the long-term impact and integration of augmented reality or virtual simulations for skills development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Learning Management System (LMS) implementation in the context of educational management in Vocational High Schools (SMK), with a prospective study at SMK Negeri 8 Medan. The research approach uses a quantitative method design. The main variables include: the quality of LMS implementation (infrastructure, teacher training, user adoption), learning outcomes (student technical competence, achievement of competency standards), and managerial indicators (administrative efficiency, teacher performance monitoring). The sample involved students, teachers, and education personnel. The analysis used a mixed linear model for longitudinal data and thematic analysis for qualitative data. The results are expected to provide empirical evidence on the determinants of LMS effectiveness and managerial recommendations for optimizing implementation in SMK.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of principal leadership and academic supervision on teacher performance at SMK Negeri 8 Medan. The research method used a quantitative approach with an ex post facto correlational design. The study sample consisted of 80 teachers selected using proportional random sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire with a Likert scale. The data analysis technique used multiple linear regression. The results showed that (1) principal leadership had a significant positive effect on teacher performance (p < 0.05), (2) principal supervision had a significant positive effect on teacher performance (p < 0.05), and (3) leadership and supervision simultaneously had a significant effect on teacher performance with a determinant contribution of 56%. Thus, improving teacher performance at SMK Negeri 8 Medan is strongly influenced by the quality of the principal's leadership and supervision.

Abstract

This study analyzes the partnership management between SMK Negeri 8 Medan and the Business and Industrial World  based on four management functions: planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating. The research highlights the importance of synergistic collaboration between vocational education and industry to produce competent and work-ready graduates. A mixed-methods approach was applied through interviews, observations, document analysis, and questionnaires involving 40 respondents from the school, students, and industry partners. Qualitative data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, while quantitative data were processed through descriptive percentage analysis. The results show that the overall effectiveness of partnership management is in the “Good” category (average 65%). Key supporting factors include leadership commitment and teacher–student enthusiasm, while obstacles involve limited industrial partners and weak evaluation systems. Adaptive strategies include expanding partnerships, conducting industry-based teacher training, and implementing continuous evaluation. It is concluded that the effectiveness of SMK–DUDI partnerships largely depends on the school’s managerial ability to apply the four management functions integratively and adaptively to industrial dynamics.
