Abstract

The aim of this study is to understand the integration and implication of dilemmas stories approach in learning the buffer solution using the think pair square (TPSq) method related to students‟ soft skills. The subject of this study is XI MIA 5 Senior High School 2 Tangerang, of forty students. This study is conducted from January 2015 until July 2015. This study used interterpretivism paradigm approach using the qualitative method. The focused of this study is the learning process and implication using dilemmas stories in learning the buffer solution using the think pair square (TPSq) method. This study consists two steps: preparation step and execution step. The sources of the data are the interviews with the students, the students reflective journals, and class observation supported by CCVLES questionnaire consisting seven indicators. The data collecting procedure refers to the seven indicators: emotion towards the story, plot, teacher support, teamwork, communication empathy, critical thinking, and contextual chemistry. Quality standards used in this study are credibility by using prolonged engagement, progressive subjectivity, dan member checking. Based on this study, it is found that the students are interested and motivated to learn chemistry through stories. They also learn to work in team, learn to appreciate other‟s opinions, and learn to solve problems in chemistry by thinking critically. Confidence, responsibility, curiosity, and creativity can be seen through the posters and videos created by the students in the final step of the learning. Dilemmas Stories can be used as an alternative in learning the buffer solution.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perceptions of Chemistry Education students toward chemistry laboratories on campus. Researchers used the Chemistry Laboratory Environment Inventory (CLEI) questionnaire to identify student perceptions. In the questionnaire, students must assess the actual conditions of the laboratory with their ideal laboratory. This study involved 70 Chemistry Education students from four different levels. Based on the results of the questionnaire, the researcher selected one student at each level to be interviewed. The interview aims to determine more about the degradation of student perceptions at each level about the state of the chemistry laboratory FMIPA UNJ. The CLEI instrument is considered reliable and can be used for further research. The results also show that there is no significant difference between student's perceptions of the actual quality of the laboratory and the ideal conditions they expect. There is also no difference in perception between first-year students and fourth-year students. The results of this study are expected to contribute to improving the quality of a better chemistry laboratory.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain information regarding the effectiveness of a web-based chemistry learning environment for students in semester 6 of the 2023/2024 academic year. Web-based learning in this study is using online learning. The research method uses a mixed method. The subjects in this study were 43 students of Chemistry Education, Jakarta State University, class of 2020. This research consists of three stages, namely the initial stage, the implementation stage, and the final stage. The data collection method used consisted of a questionnaire method with open ended questions. The questionnaire in this study used the Web Based Learning Environment Instrument (WEBLEI) with a Cronbach's alpha reliability value of 0.878. The results showed that the effectiveness of the web-based learning environment was quite good, which was indicated by the average acquisition of each scale, namely 3.65, 3.41, 3.59 and 3.44 for the access, interaction, response and outcome scales.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze students' perceptions of the learning environment in the chemistry laboratory in the organic chemistry practicum course. The subjects of this research were class B Chemistry Education students, 36 students from the class of 2021 and 31 students from the class of 2022. The research was conducted based on the differences in the class of chemistry B students in carrying out organic chemistry practicum. The instrument used in this research was the CLEI (Chemistry Laboratory Environment Inventory) instrument. The CLEI (Chemistry Laboratory Environment Inventory) instrument is an instrument used to evaluate the chemical laboratory environment. The CLEI instrument is divided into 5 dimensions, namely student cohesiveness, open-endedness, integration, rule clarity, and material environment. Data collection techniques in this research used questionnaires and interviews. The method used in this research is qualitative research. The results of this research show that there is interaction between students such as working together and helping each other in groups, there is the opportunity for students to design practical experiments, there is integration between theory in class and practice carried out during practicum, there are formal rules to regulate and supervise the course of practicum, and completeness of tools and materials is still not good with there are still tools that function less well.

Abstract

Chemistry learning at the high school level is often considered difficult due to the abstract nature of the material and the lack of interactive teaching materials that support students' learning styles. This study aims to develop and test the effectiveness of an Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) e-Module on Hydrocarbons as an interactive teaching resource. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data collection was conducted through student needs questionnaires and interviews with teachers at SMAN 3 Kota Tangerang, followed by validation by experts and a trial with students from class XI7. The results show that the developed e-Module has excellent quality based on expert validation and received positive feedback from students during the trial. Students found the module engaging, easy to understand, and effective in helping them grasp the concepts of hydrocarbons through the IBL steps. Therefore, this e-Module can serve as an innovative alternative in chemistry learning, particularly for the hydrocarbons topic, to create a more interactive and enjoyable learning experience.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of the classroom environment using the My Class Inventory-Short Form instrument on learning outcomes. The research method used is a quantitative method with survey techniques using the My Class Inventory-Short Form (MCI-SF) instrument which consists of 5 dimensions, namely satisfaction, friction, competitiveness, difficulty and cohesiveness with a total of 25 statements. Based on the research results, the highest average was in the satisfaction dimension at 4.09 and the lowest was in the friction dimension at 1,50. This shows that in the satisfaction dimension, the average student agrees with a pleasant classroom environment. Meanwhile, in the friction dimension, the average student stated that they strongly disagreed that pupils are always fighting with each other. Based on the research carried out, the value of tcount = 13,267, so the value of tcount > ttable. This means that there is an influence between the classroom environment on the learning outcomes of class XI students at SMAN 70 Jakarta with a percentage of the influence of the learning environment of 85,4% which is included in the strong category.
