Abstract

Chemistry learning at the high school level is often considered difficult due to the abstract nature of the material and the lack of interactive teaching materials that support students' learning styles. This study aims to develop and test the effectiveness of an Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) e-Module on Hydrocarbons as an interactive teaching resource. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data collection was conducted through student needs questionnaires and interviews with teachers at SMAN 3 Kota Tangerang, followed by validation by experts and a trial with students from class XI7. The results show that the developed e-Module has excellent quality based on expert validation and received positive feedback from students during the trial. Students found the module engaging, easy to understand, and effective in helping them grasp the concepts of hydrocarbons through the IBL steps. Therefore, this e-Module can serve as an innovative alternative in chemistry learning, particularly for the hydrocarbons topic, to create a more interactive and enjoyable learning experience.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a flipbook on making aromatherapy candles from used cooking oil, integrated with the Project to Strengthen the Pancasila Student Profile (P5). The flipbook is designed not only to enhance students' conceptual understanding of hydrocarbon materials but also to instill essential P5 values. The development of aromatherapy candle flipbooks from used cooking oil integrates the value of sustainable lifestyles in the P5 by encouraging learners to manage household waste creatively and environmentally friendly as part of contextual learning. The study employed a Research and Development (RnD) approach using ADDIE model, which includes five stages: Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate. The development process focused on aligning learning content with students' needs and incorporating multimedia features to support independent and engaging learning. A total of 35 students in grade XI of MAN 3 Jakarta were selected for the limited trial of the flipbook implementation. The results of the validation and implementation phases demonstrated that the flipbook is highly effective, receiving an overall interpretation score of 88%, consists of 89% for visual design quality, 87% for content relevance, and 88% for ease of media access which are all in the excellent category. The flipbook not only presents hydrocarbon concepts and step-by-step instructions for candle making but also integrates P5 values, environmental awareness through waste management solutions, fun facts, reflection activities, and interactive multimedia. Based on these findings, the developed flipbook highly effective to be a suitable and innovative digital teaching material that can enhance student engagement, improve understanding, and serve as a model for integrating character education into science learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the development of critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills of students on the material of speed when implementing constructivist learning. This study is a quasi-experimental study type using a posttest only design research design. The sample selection used a random sampling technique that obtained a sample of 127 students of class XI MIPA who were then divided into two research classes, namely experimental class 1 and experimental class 2. Both research classes will be applied constructivist learning model with details, experimental class 1 applies the problem-based learning (PBL) model while experimental class 2 applies the guided inquiry learning model. Data collection was obtained from research instruments in the form of critical thinking ability tests, problem-solving skills tests, critical thinking ability questionnaires and problem-solving skills observation sheets. The statistical test used to analyze the data was the MANOVA test with a significance level of 5%. The findings of this study illustrate that students' critical thinking abilities and problem-solving skills increase when constructivist learning is implemented. However, the increase in these abilities and skills was not the same for both research classes.

Abstract

Science education at the primary school level plays a crucial role in forming students' initial scientific understanding. However, chemistry learning is often constrained by limited facilities and concerns about the environmental impact of experiment waste. This community service program aims to address these issues through the implementation of a Zero-Waste Chemistry Class by applying safe, simple, and non-hazardous Green Chemistry-based experiments. The target of this activity was students of SD IT Tazkia Insani in Majalengka Regency. The methods included preparing simple experiment kits and guides (Making Milk Glue), socialization, mentoring, and evaluation using test instruments based on three OECD (2023) science literacy indicators. The program results show that the application of eco-friendly experiments was highly effective in enhancing overall science understanding, with 57.14% of students achieving the Very Good category and 42.86% achieving the Good category. Furthermore, the activity successfully fostered an understanding of eco-friendly chemistry awareness among students, with the Good category dominating (42.86%). This program is expected to be an innovative, meaningful, and sustainable science learning model, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) points 4 (Quality Education) and 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
