Abstract

Batam City has recognized the benefits of digital transformation and has actively adopted digital technology. However, it is a misconception to view digital transformation as merely the adoption of new technologies. To digitally transform a business, SMEs need to acquire managerial capabilities and digital proficiency of employee. The need to ensure that managers and employees are equipped with the digital knowledge is essential. Delays in addressing these issues could result in a broader digital gap, putting Batam's SMEs at a disadvantage in both local and global markets. The study employs a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with SME owners or managers. The findings show that while digital transformation improves operational efficiency, market reach, innovation, and reducing fraud, SMEs face challenges such as limited capabilities, skills gaps, and emerging market demands. The study shows that managerial skills and employee readiness are key in ensuring a successful digital transformation. This research provides a practical overview for entrepreneurs or managers to help them navigate digitalization in a dynamic environment.

Abstract

In this modern era, the world has witnessed a phenomenal explosion in the growth of startups in various countries. Startups have become the main drivers of innovation and economic growth. Startup businesses are currently experiencing significant and rapid growth, especially in Indonesia. Currently, there are many new startup companies, so innovation is needed to compete with other competitors. Startup development requires creative ideas to attract investors. In addition to innovative ideas, product quality must also be a priority to attract consumer interest. Therefore, this study aims to examine the impact of incremental innovation on startups from the perspective of users in Batam City. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of incremental innovation on the Gojek application. The author uses the Structural Equation Model (SEM) with the Partial Least Squares method, then the researcher applies the Extended Expectation Confirmation Model (ECM) from the perspective of Gojek application users to analyze the effect of incremental innovation efforts on the Gojek application. The author collects data by distributing questionnaires to people who have made transactions with Gojek. A total of 264 samples have been collected, and the results show that confirmation has a positive effect on the perception of enjoyment, satisfaction, and customer engagement. The results show that the perception of enjoyment and satisfaction has a positive impact on the user's intention to continue using the Gojek application. However, customer engagement does not significantly affect the user's intention to continue using the Gojek application.

Abstract

This study explores how implementing DevOps influences perceived productivity in software development within startup companies in Batam, Indonesia. A quantitative method was used through a structured survey involving 261 respondents from ten software houses. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS to assess relationships among seven constructs adapted from the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). Results show that Social Influence and Perceived Feasibility significantly affect the Intention to Adopt DevOps, which in turn has a positive impact on Perceived Productivity. Conversely, Performance Expectancy, Facilitating Conditions, and Perceived DevOps Practices show no significant effect. These findings highlight the importance of social support, collaborative culture, and technical readiness in shaping adoption intentions in resource-limited startups. The model demonstrates good fit (CFI = 0.924, TLI = 0.914, RMSEA = 0.065), explaining 74.2% of variance in perceived productivity, with the strongest path between Intention to Adopt DevOps and Perceived Productivity (β = 1.032, p = 0.001).

Abstract

Kata kunci: zero trust architecture, cybersecurity scale, validasi instrumen, keamanan siber, kesiapan SDM, UU PDP -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Validation of the Cybersecurity Scale (CS-S) in the Industrial Context of Batam as an Initial Step Toward Assessing Zero Trust Architecture Adoption Readiness This study aims to validate the Cybersecurity Scale (CS-S) as a measurement instrument for assessing human resource (HR) readiness in adopting the Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) within Batam’s industrial context. The validation focuses on the human dimension—such as authentication awareness, access control, and data management—as a fundamental pillar in comprehensive ZTA readiness assessment. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 391 respondents representing multiple organizational levels in Batam’s manufacturing and logistics sectors. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) confirmed that the six-factor CS-S model (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability, Control/Possession, Authenticity, and Utility) demonstrated excellent model fit (CFI = 0.980; TLI = 0.977; RMSEA = 0.051) and strong reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha 0.913–0.946). The findings revealed that Authenticity and Control/Possession had the highest factor loadings, emphasizing respondents’ awareness of identity verification and data ownership—two critical components of ZTA’s Identity and Access Management pillar. Meanwhile, Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability reflected strong technical readiness among Batam-based firms. The study highlights that human readiness is a foundational element in successful ZTA adoption and that the validated CS-S serves as an essential tool for evaluating national cybersecurity readiness amid the enforcement of Indonesia’s Personal Data Protection Law (PDP Law).
