Abstract

The Reformation led by Martin Luther in the 16th century was one of the most influential events in the history of the church and the Christian world. This research aims to analyze the impact of Martin Luther’s Reformation on the church and the Christian world as a whole. Luther, through his 95 Theses, challenged the authority of the Catholic Church, particularly regarding the sale of indulgences, and emphasized the doctrines of salvation by faith alone (sola fide) and the authority of Scripture alone (sola scriptura). The result of this movement was the emergence of Protestant Christian denominations, a deep division between Catholicism and Protestantism, and reforms within the Catholic Church known as the Counter-Reformation. This study employs historical methods, analyzing relevant primary and secondary documents to understand the theological, social, and political impacts of Luther’s Reformation. The Reformation also brought significant changes in education, liturgical languages, and the church’s role in the socio-political life of European society. Overall, Martin Luther’s Reformation triggered a transformation in the structure of the church and Christian society that persists into the modern era.

Abstract

Love is a central theme in the Christian faith, as stated in 1 John 4:7-12. This letter confirms that love comes from God, and love is the essence of God's existence and character. This article examines in depth the concept of divine love (agape) in 1 John, which is demonstrated through the sending of Jesus Christ as an atoning sacrifice for human sins. Using a hermeneutic approach and textual analysis, this article explores how God's love enables believers to reflect the character of Christ in everyday life. Through true love, believers are called to live in harmony with others as proof of their knowledge of God. Love in this context is not only a moral act, but a spiritual transformation that signifies spiritual maturity and a life in line with God's will.

Abstract

This study examines the strategic role of collaborative learning in strengthening students’ faith and character within the context of Christian Religious Education (CRE). In the face of globalization and the rapid development of digital technology, CRE is increasingly expected to go beyond the transmission of theological knowledge and actively nurture the application of Christian values in daily life. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research includes classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis involving both teachers and students engaged in collaborative learning. The results show that collaborative learning fosters active student engagement, character formation, improved social interaction, and a deeper understanding of spiritual values. Teachers are shown to play a critical role as facilitators, cultivating an inclusive and dialogical classroom environment. The study finds that this learning model effectively integrates faith development with critical thinking and interpersonal skills. The findings also underscore the importance of pedagogical innovation in CRE to better respond to the educational needs of a younger generation living in a diverse and digitally connected society. Therefore, collaborative learning can be viewed as a relevant and impactful strategy for renewing Christian education in today’s complex educational landscape.

Abstract

Church discipleship is a concrete manifestation of the shepherd's primary role and responsibility within the life of the church. A shepherd is not merely a preacher or worship leader, but a spiritual mentor committed to guiding the congregation toward spiritual maturity. This discipleship process involves various aspects such as deep biblical teaching, personal and communal pastoral care, and continuous discipleship. The main goal is for the congregation to move beyond superficial faith and grow into Christ-like individuals in character, knowledge, and action. This article explores biblical and theological principles of church discipleship and how the shepherd's role must be contextualized to meet the challenges of the present age and the needs of the people. In a world that is constantly changing and spiritually challenging, effective discipleship becomes crucial for the church to remain relevant and spiritually strong. This study affirms that spiritual maturity cannot be achieved instantly, but through a purposeful, consistent process rooted in love and the truth of God's Word. Therefore, discipleship must be a pastoral priority to build a mature, strong, and impactful church.
