Abstract

Latar Belakang Remedial sebagai sebuah metode untuk memperbaiki prestasi belajar sehingga mencapai kriteria ketuntasan yang telah ditetapkan. Setiap Fakultas Kedokteran memiliki metode remedial yang berbeda-beda. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh dari divisi assessment  FK UMSU, masih ada mahasiswa yang tidak lulus sehingga mahasiswa harus memperpanjang masa studi. Tujuan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan prestasi belajar pada mahasiswa yang mengikuti ujian grand remedial di Fakultas Kedokteran UMSU. Metode. Rancangan penelitian ini adalah deskriptif analitik dengan desain cross-sectional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa angkatan 2011, 2012 dan 2013 di Fakultas Kedokteran UMSU yang mengikuti ujian grand remedial. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode total sampling. Pengambilan data penelitian dengan melihat data sekunder yang diperoleh dari divisi assessment Fakultas Kedokteran UMSU berupa data IPK mahasiswa. Hasil. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini pada setiap angkatan didapatkan perbedaan yang bermakna antara IPK sebelum dan setelah dilakukan ujian grand remedial dengan nilai signifikansi pada angkatan 2011 p<0,001, angkatan 2012 p<0,001 dan angkatan 2013 p<0,001. Sedangkan hasil analisis IPK mahasiswa secara keseluruhan didapatkan nilai signifikansi p<0,001. Kesimpulan. Ujian grand remedial dapat membantu mahasiswa dalam memperbaiki prestasi belajar.Kata Kunci: Remedial, Assessment, Penilaian Sumatif, Prestasi Belajar

Abstract

Pembinaan Dokter kecil di SD Muhammadiyah dilakukan untuk mewujudkan peningkatan derajatkesehatan di lingkungan sekolah melalui penguatan unsur Unit Kesehatan Sekolah (UKS) salah satunyaadalah dokter kecil. Ada beberapa faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi pelaksanaan program UKS disekolah, yaitu unsur UKS yang aktif dan sarana prasarana yang memadai. Oleh karena itu, tujuanpengabdian ini adalah pembekalan dokter kecil bagi siswa di SD Muhammadiyah agar mempunyaipengetahuan dan keterampilan kedokteran dasar, serta berkarakter Islami, sehigga dapat meningkatkanprogram UKS serta akan membentuk cikal bakal dokter Muhammadiyah di masa depan yang militandalam gerakan dakwah. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan metode pelatihan dalam bentuk pemaparanmateri dasar-dasar ilmu kesehatan dan Al Islam dan Kemuhammadiyanh dan disertai praktik langsungbeberapa materi keterampilan klinis dasar sebagai dokter kecil yang disampaikan dari narasumber yangberasal dari dokter dan Petugas Puskesmas di wilayah setempat. Hasil dari kegiatan ini tercipta sekitar40 Adapun implikasi dari hasil pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah memperkuat aktifitas UKS di sekolahSD Muhammadiyah serta meningkatkan derajat kesehatan sekolah di SD Muhammadiyah sertameningkatkan antusiasme para kader Muhammadiyah mulai sejak siswa SD untuk menjadi orang dokterMuhammadiyah yang berkarakter Islami di Masa Depan. Kesimpulan dari Pengabdian Masyarakat inibahwa kegiatan ini dapat meningkatkan kegiatan UKS di SD Muhammadiyah serta dapatmeningkatkan antusiasme kader-kader Muhammadiyah sejak usia dini untuk menjadi DokterMuhammadiyah yang Profesional dan Islami.

Abstract

Academic success can be measured by academic achievement. Academic achievement can be influenced by learningenvironment factors that such an important thing in the level of academic achievement. The learning environment is allconditions and influences from outside oneself on learning activites. The better learning environment, the higher of studentsto learn so that it will have a good impact on academic achievement. This study aims to determine the relationship betweenstudents perceptions about the learning environment on academic achievement at FK UMSU. This research is a descriptiveanalytic study with cross sectional design. The research sample consisted of 190 students of FK UMSU 2016, 2017, and2018 taken by proportional stratified random sampling method.This research was tested by Kruskal-Wallis. Overall the resultwere quite satisfying on students perceptions of environmental education with total grade of 80,53%. The mean value persubscale shows good results on students perceptions of the educational environment. The average academic achievementin the category is very good. Kruskal-Wallis test analysis obtained p value of 0,000which means there is a relationshipbetween the educational environment and academic achievement. Student perceptions of the learning environment have arelationship with academic achievement in FK UMSU students.

Abstract

Problem based learning (PBL) approach is aiming at increasing the self directed learning ability that can be supported by theself-directed learning readiness (SDLR). Self directed learning readiness (SDLR) is the someone’s readiness to do learningprocess that initiated by himself, with or without others help. The level of SDLR can affect and estimate someone’s learningsuccess. The higher the level of SDLR, then the higher the learning achievement of someone can get. This study aimed toknow the correlation of self-directed learning readiness towards first block score of the college students at Medical FacultyMuhammadiyah University of North Sumatera academic year 2018/2019. This study was a descriptive analitic study withcross sectional design. The samples of this study were 129 first year college students of FK UMSU academic year2018/2019 that were taken with total sampling technique. Most college students have high SDLR score with 97 students, andthen followed by moderate SDLR score with 32 students (24,8%), and no student with low SDLR score (0%). From the blockfinal exam score, most students got pass achievement with total 55 students (42,6%), and then followed by borderlineachievement with 50 students (38,8%), not pass achievement with 22 students (17,1%) and superior achievement with 2students (1,7%). The results of this study were tested with the Kruskal-Wallis test. From the Kruskal-Wallis test it’s obtainedthat the P Value is 0.568 . It means that there is no correlation of self-directed learning readiness towards first block score.The self-directed learning readiness has no relation with the first block score of college students at Medical FacultyMuhammadiyah University of North Sumatera academic year 2018/2019.

Abstract

Self-assessment of abilities in the learning process has the benefit of knowing one's own strengths and weaknesses. Thisstudy aims to determine the effectiveness of self assessment on PBL (problem based learning) tutorials. The PBL Tutorial isa Small Group Discussion that studies about existing disease problems. Method: this research method is an experimentalmethod. Sampling was done by total sampling and divided into intervention groups and control groups. The results showedthat there were significant differences in the pretest and posttest scores in the intervention and control groups, in the averagevalue of the intervention and control group tutorials with significance, in the posttest scores between the two groups with pvalues <0.05. Thus there is the effectiveness of self assessment in the PBL tutorial. The results of self assessment aregood if students know the weaknesses and strengths in the learning process. Self assessment succeeded in increasingstudent learning motivation so that it showed satisfying student learning achievements.

Abstract

Students have different learning styles. The component that affects learning styles is personality type because a person'spersonality is different to be comfortable in learning. Knowing learning styles is important in learning success because theybetter know one's strengths and weaknesses. This study aims to determine the differences in learning styles betweenintrovert and extrovert personality types among FK UMSU students. This study was a descriptive analytic study with a crosssectional design. The research sample consisted of 135 students of FK UMSU class 2019 who were taken using the simplerandom sampling method. This research was tested by using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Overall, the results showed thatthe dominant learning styles of students were auditory learning styles (33.3%). Then the description of the dominantpersonality type is the introvert personality type (84.4%). Kolmogorov-Smirnov test analysis obtained p value 0.907, whichmeans there is no difference in learning styles with personality types. There is no difference between learning styles andpersonality types in FK UMSU students.

Abstract

The spread of COVID-19 happened so fast that the government gave instructions to conduct online learning. This learningwill have an impact on professional students, namely affecting clinical skills, difficulty evaluating professionalism, difficultyachieving and evaluating competency standards of Indonesian doctors, and loss of collaborative experience. So that requiresstudents to be more active in independent learning. One of the factors that affect independent learning is motivation inlearning. So researchers want to research the relationship between independent study readiness and learning motivation formedical students during the COVID-19 pandemic. To determine the relationship between learning motivation and readinessfor independent study of medical profession students during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study was a descriptive analyticstudy with a cross sectional design. Respondents found that independent learning readiness was low 58.3% and high 41.7%.At medium motivation, 72.4% and high 27.6. In the Chi-Square test, it was found that the value of p = 0.000 (p <0.05).Statistically, there is a relationship between learning motivation and self-study readiness of medical profession students.

Abstract

Background: Basic Clinical Skills (BCS) is one of the learning methods in medical education that acts as an intermediary bridge to apply procedural knowledge and clinical competency for medical students. Medical educators have successfully used many ways to assess students’ abilities, both oral and written. Oral examinations have vast advantages compared to other assessment methods. However, no standardization of questions to be tested becomes an essential issue in the assessment process. A structured oral examination may increase students’ motivation to prepare themselves better to study the material before following BCS training. This study aimed to determine the effect of a structured oral examination on students’ motivation and identify students’ motivation. Methods: This quasi-experimental research used a pretest-posttest design to assess the effect of applying the structured oral examination on students’ motivation. The subject of this study was the third-year medical students that amounted to 109 students. Sample selection was made by total sampling. In this study, the authors used SMQ-II questionnaires to measure the students’ motivation. Results: This research showed significant differences between student motivation on pretest and posttest (p-value of 0,000) after the students were given the structured oral examination at the beginning of basic clinical skills training. It means the structured oral examination affected students’ motivation. Conclusion: The structured oral examination administered for students before entering BCS learning processes had a significant impact on the students’ motivation. The preparation and the regulation of the structured oral examination on the BCS learning processes should be reinforced to motivate the students and make them more skillful

Abstract

Introduction: Aedes aegypti mosquito is the main vector of dengue virus. Aedes aegypti mosquito control efforts one of them by breaking the life of mosquito chain in larval stage that can be eradicated by chemical means that is using temephos, but the use of chemical larvasida can harm society like environmental pollution. The alternative to reducing the loss is by using natural ingredients is red guava leaf infusa ( Psidium guajava L) containing chemicals that can kill the larvae.  Methods: This study uses true experiment post test with cantrol group design. With 3 concentrations of infusa and the sample size was 625 samples in 5 repetitions. Result: The results of the study of red guava leaves infected the highest larval mortality at a concentration of 1.05% with 96% mortality of  the larvae. The results showed that the difference of mortality rate at each concentration of guava leaf infusa was indicated by p value <0,05.Conclusion: Red guava leaf infusa infected infected was use with a concentration of 1.05% as the most effective concentration killed the larvae with 96.0% mortality percentage, but in general the concentration of red guava leaf infected concentration of 1.05% still can not kill the Aedes mosquito larvae 100% aegypti such as temephos.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Diare masih merupakan masalah kesehatan dan penyebab kematian balita. sanitasi lingkungan yang tidak tepat dapat meningkatkan kasus diare. Jenis lantai, kondisi jamban, sumber air minum, kualitas fisik air bersih, tempat pembuangan sampah dan saluran pembuangan air limbah (SPAL) merupakan faktor dominan penyebab penyakit tersebut.Tujuan: untuk mengetahui gambaran sanitasi lingkungan pada kejadian diare bayi bawah lima tahun di RS Haji Medan Tahun 2016.Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan cross sectional, teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik total sampling.Hasil: Dari beberapa sanitasi lingkungan yang diteliti, 60% balita yang terkena diare telah memiliki lantai baik, 40% memiliki jamban sehat, 45% memiliki sumber air minum bersyarat, 35% memiliki kualitas air minum baik, 40% memiliki tempat sampah baik dan 65% memiliki SPAL yang memenuhi syarat.Kesimpulan: Keadaan lingkungan balita dengan diare di RS. Haji Medan telah memiliki kondisi lantai dan SPAL yang baik tetapi untuk kualitas jamban, sumber air minum, kualitas air bersih dan tempat sampah masih belum memenuhi syarat.
