Abstract

Background: The Emergency Department (ED) serves as the initial handling unit for patients who are ill or injured, aiming to provide rapid and accurate care to enhance patient satisfaction and reduce waiting times. Effective triage is essential for prioritizing patient care based on urgency Purpose: To examine the correlation between triage level and patient waiting time in the Emergency Department of RSUD (Regional Public Hospital)  Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto Methods: This study employs a descriptive quantitative observational design with a cross-sectional approach. Purposive sampling was used to select 94 samples, focusing on patients categorized into triage levels 1, 2, and 3. Data collection was conducted using an observation sheet. Data processing and analysis were performed using SPSS with Spearman’s rank correlation test Result: The majority of respondents were male (51.1%), with ages ranging from 18 to 87 years, averaging 49.9 years (adult category). The most prevalent medical diagnosis was palliative care with a general cancer diagnosis (16%). The majority of patients were first-time visitors (54.3%). Triage level 2 (yellow label) was the most common (50%), with an average waiting time of 357.93 minutes (approximately 5.97 hours), categorized as fast. Statistical testing revealed a p-value of 0.000 Implication: There is a significant correlation between triage level and patient waiting time in the Emergency Department of RSUD  Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto

Abstract

Cardiac arrest remains a major concern in healthcare due to its high mortality rate, with more than 100 deaths annually worldwide and 5% occurring in Indonesia. One recommended first aid method is Hands-Only CPR. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Self-Directed Learning videos on Hands-Only CPR using SIKOMJARU on the compression quality of Hands-Only CPR performed by community health volunteers in Kalisaleh Village. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a total sampling technique, involving 40 participants who received identical interventions. Compression quality was assessed using the Hands-Only CPR SOP from the American Heart Association (AHA), performed on the SIKOMJARU CPR education phantom. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon test, yielding significant results with a p-value of 0.000. The findings demonstrated that Self-Directed Learning videos on Hands-Only CPR using SIKOMJARU were effective in improving the compression quality of Hands-Only CPR. This method offered an efficient educational solution to enhance the capability of Kalisaleh Village health volunteers in managing out-of-hospital cardiac arrest cases.

Abstract

Background: Weaning patients from a ventilator is a complex and challenging task for nurses. This condition requires nurses to understand the criteria for weaning in order to achieve successful outcomes for patients on mechanical ventilation. Knowledge plays an important role in determining the success of mechanical ventilation weaning. Purpose: To determine the relationship between the level of nurses' knowledge and the process of weaning from mechanical ventilation in the ICU room Methods: This study is an analytical observational study using a cross-sectional approach. The sample selection used a total sampling of 33 respondents. Data analysis used the chi square test. Result: Most of the respondents were 31-36 years old, 13 (39.4%), male gender, 21 (63.6%), had a bachelor's degree, 23 (69.7%), work experience of 1-5 years and > 11 years, 13 (39.4%) each, and ICU training had been carried out by 17 (51.5%). Respondents were mostly knowledgeable as many as 28 respondents (84.8%) and the process of implementing mechanical ventilation weaning in the ICU was appropriate as many as 24 (72.7%). Data analysis showed that there is a relationship between nurses’ knowledge level and the process of weaning from mechanical ventilation, with p = 0.004 (< 0.05). Implication: Hospitals need to hold routine training and continuing education programs related to mechanical ventilation, including effective weaning techniques, to improve nurse competence.

Abstract

The nurse handover is a technique for conveying and receiving information about patients in the most effective manner possible, involving brief, clear, and comprehensive explanations of independent nursing actions, collaborative actions that have been or need to be undertaken, and patient progress. Several factors influence the implementation of nurse handovers, including age, education level, work experience, knowledge, responsibility, communication, documentation, leadership of the head nurse, peer support, resources, nurse motivation, nurse attitudes, and coworker relationships. Objective: To identify factors related to the implementation of nurse handover. This study used a descriptive correlational quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach, employing the chi-square test. Data collection was conducted using total sampling with a questionnaire instrument distributed to 57 respondents. Results: The Chi-Square test with a significance level of 0.05 showed the following p-values for each factor: age (p = 0.005), education level (p = 0.008), work experience (p = 0.004), knowledge (p = 0.001), responsibility (p = 0.001), documentation (p = 0.000), and communication (p = 0.002). These results indicate significant correlation between age, education level, work experience, knowledge, responsibility, communication, and documentation, and the implementation of nurse handovers. Conclusion: Age, education level, work experience, knowledge, responsibility, communication, and documentation are significantly related to the implementation of nurse handovers.
