Abstract

Kabupaten Kupang merupakan peringkat kelima dengan angka kematian ibu dan bayi paling tinggi di Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur. Desa Oelnasi memiliki cakupan kunjungan pertama kehamilan sebesar 69,35% dan masih dibawah target Renstra NTT yaitu 85 persen. Program kesehatan dunia menekankan potensi kader kesehatan untuk meningkatkan derajat kesehatan. Kader kesehatan sebagai komponen integral dari tenaga kesehatan untuk mendukung tujuan pembangunan. Tujuan yaitu meningkatkan peran serta kader dalam upaya peningkatan kesehatan ibu hamil. Kegiatan yang dilakukan adalah dengan memberikan sosialisasi, pendampingan serta evaluasi bagi kader tentang standar kunjungan pemeriksaan kehamilan melalui Buku KIA. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan Sebagian besar kader dapat melakukan pemantauan kunjungan pemeriksaan kehamilan dan mendampingi ibu hamil saat melahirkan. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa peran kader sangat penting dalam meningkatkan pelayanan kesehatan bagi ibu ibu dan bayi.

Abstract

Salah satu lingkup pelayanan posyandu yang diberikan adalah menyelenggarakan pelayanan kesehatan bagi ibu hamil, bersalin dan nifas yang sejalan dengan konsep continuity of care yaitu  serangkaian kegiatan peladenan yang berkelanjutan dan menyeluruh mulai dari kehamilan, persalinan, nifas, pelayanan bayi baru lahir serta pelayanan keluarga berencana. Kader posyandu merupakan penggerak utama seluruh kegiatan yang dilaksanakan di posyandu. Dalam kegiatan Posyandu tugas kader posyandu adalah melakukan pendaftaran, penimbangan, mencatat pelayanan ibu dan anak dalam buku KIA (Kesehatan Ibu dan Anak), menggunakan buku KIA sebagai bahan penyuluhan Refresing atau penyegaran kader perlu dilakukan secara berkala untuk meningkatkan ketrampilan dan kemandirian kader.

Abstract

Stunting has become a national development priority for the Government of Indonesia, including in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, with a targeted reduction rate of 14% by 2024. Stunting is a manifestation of chronic growth failure in children under the age of five, primarily resulting from prolonged nutritional deficiencies and repeated infections, particularly during the first 1,000 days of life (from conception to two years of age). Children affected by stunting exhibit a height-for-age below the standard growth reference. Beyond its impact on physical stature, stunting also compromises brain development and has long-term consequences on cognitive function and overall productivity.The persistence of stunting is attributed to the insufficient implementation of both specific and sensitive interventions targeting young children and their mothers. The Accelerated Stunting Prevention Program through the Investing in Nutrition and Early Years (INEY) Phase 2 supports catalytic investments aimed at strengthening implementation capacity and systems, while promoting a multisectoral approach to stunting reduction. Advocacy serves as a persuasive communication strategy to influence government stakeholders and local authorities in Kupang City to support the execution of the INEY program. The involvement of Kupang Health Polytechnic (Poltekkes Kemenkes Kupang) is expected to enhance the effectiveness of efforts to reduce the prevalence of stunting in East Nusa Tenggara, particularly in Kupang City.

Abstract

Background: Early initiation of breastfeeding (EIBF) is the practice of providing breast milk within the first hour after birth. It is proven to reduce neonatal mortality and improve infant nutritional status. However, the implementation of EIBF has not been fully adopted by healthcare workers, including midwives. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between midwives’ level of knowledge and attitudes with the implementation of early initiation of breastfeeding at Prof. Dr. W. Z. Johannes General Hospital in Kupang. Methods: This was an analytical study with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 21 midwives selected using total sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires to assess knowledge and attitudes, and observations using a checklist to evaluate EIBF implementation. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: Most midwives had good knowledge (90.5%) and positive attitudes (57%) regarding EIBF. However, only 33% of respondents implemented EIBF. The statistical test showed no significant relationship between knowledge (p = 0.533) or attitude (p = 0.642) and the implementation of EIBF. Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between midwives’ knowledge and attitudes and the implementation of early initiation of breastfeeding. Continuous training and capacity-building programs are recommended to support midwives in implementing EIBF according to established guidelines.
