Abstract

Abstract. The environmental resources become an important medium in the learning process. Project Based Learning (PBL) initiates problem-based learning activities by observing the environment as a learning resource. This study aims was to determine the effect of PBL on the attitude of caring for the heritage of BBSNP and student learning outcomes on environmental pollution material for class VII SMP Negeri 13 Krui and determine which dimensions are most controlled by students to increase the attitude of caring for the heritage of BBSNP. The research design was the quantitative descriptive of quasi experiment. The samples were students at grade VII B and VII C with the number of 60 students out of 150 total students. The value data of the caring attitude of Bukit Barisan National Park heritage were obtained from questionnaire analyzed statistically using One Way Anova test with rate of 5%. On the other hand, data in the research also composed of the supporting data, cognitive learning outcome taken from test score. The research results showed that there was a significant influence of problem based learning model on the caring attitude of the Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park in Junior High School State 13 Krui with the significant rate of 0.00 (sig < 0,05). The behavior dimension with the 39% was the most dominant which students had by the caring attitude to the material of environmental pollution. In conclusion, Problem Based learning Model can influence on the caring attitude of heritage to the material of environmental pollution.

Abstract

This study investigated the effect of using a video-assisted problem-based learning model on class VII students' critical thinking abilities on environmental pollution material. This research was conducted using quasi-experimental research design with a non-equivalent control group. The research data were in the form of qualitative data (critical thinking skills) and quantitative (student responses to learning using the video-assisted PBL model). Data analysis used the T-test (p<0.05). The results showed that there was an influence of using the video-assisted PBL model on students' critical thinking skills on environmental pollution material (p<0.05). The indicator for building basic skills obtained the highest average N-gain, namely 0.82 in the very good category. Meanwhile, the results of the student response questionnaire regarding the use of the video-assisted PBL model showed positive student responses with an average score of 89.67% in the very good category.         Keywords: critical thinking skills, PBL, environmental pollution and video. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i1.pp486-495
