Abstract

This study aims to analyze the teaching strategies of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) teachers in enhancing the moral character (akhlakul karimah) of students at SMP Al-Kamal Jakarta. The background of the issue is related to the crucial role of teachers as role models for students, given the impact of teachers' behavior on students' character development. The focus of this research is to identify various teaching methods applied by the teachers to instill noble values, as well as to understand the role of religious routines practiced at school. The research employs a qualitative approach, using data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings show that at SMP Al-Kamal Jakarta, the teaching strategies implemented include not only lectures, discussions, and problem-solving but also religious routines such as communal prayers and Qur'an memorization. These routines have a positive impact on shaping students' moral character both at school and in their daily lives. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that strengthening students' moral character can be achieved through the integration of classroom teaching methods and consistent religious practices. The study also suggests the importance of collaboration between teachers, parents, and the community in shaping students' character. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi pembelajaran guru Pendidikan Agama Islam dalam meningkatkan akhlakul karimah peserta didik di SMP Al-Kamal Jakarta. Latar belakang masalah berkaitan dengan pentingnya peran guru dalam menjadi teladan bagi siswa, mengingat pengaruh perilaku guru terhadap pembentukan karakter peserta didik. Fokus penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi berbagai metode pembelajaran yang diterapkan oleh guru dalam menanamkan akhlak mulia, serta memahami peran kebiasaan keagamaan yang dijalankan di sekolah. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa di SMP Al-Kamal Jakarta, strategi pembelajaran yang diterapkan tidak hanya melalui ceramah, diskusi, dan pemecahan masalah, tetapi juga melibatkan rutinitas kebiasaan keagamaan seperti sholat berjamaah dan penghafalan Al-Qur’an. Kebiasaan-kebiasaan ini memberikan dampak positif dalam membentuk akhlakul karimah peserta didik baik di sekolah maupun dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Simpulan dari penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa penguatan akhlak peserta didik dapat terwujud melalui integrasi antara metode pembelajaran di kelas dan kebiasaan keagamaan yang dijalankan secara konsisten. Penelitian ini juga menyarankan pentingnya kerjasama antara guru, orang tua, dan masyarakat dalam membentuk karakter peserta didik.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of kafa’ah (marital compatibility) from the perspective of Maqashid al-Shariah, using a case study of Darul Ma’sum Islamic Boarding School and Darussalam Foundation in Probolinggo Regency. The research is motivated by social phenomena within Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), where the application of kafa’ah varies between a traditional approach emphasizing equality in lineage, social status, and religious scholarship and a more contextual interpretation that prioritizes welfare (maslahah), happiness, and spiritual responsibility. The aim of this research is to analyze how the principles of Maqashid al-Shariah are applied in understanding and interpreting kafa’ah within pesantren culture, and how religious and social values interact in marital practices. The study employs a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, utilizing in-depth interviews and document analysis. This approach enables the researcher to explore the subjective experiences of pesantren leaders in determining marital suitability based on both religious and social considerations. The findings reveal that Darul Ma’sum tends to apply kafa’ah normatively to preserve hifz al-din (protection of religion) and hifz al-nasl (protection of lineage), whereas Darussalam emphasizes hifz al-nafs (protection of life) and individual welfare. Through the analytical lens of Maqashid al-Shariah, the study concludes that a contextual and humanistic understanding of kafa’ah aligns more closely with the higher objectives of Islamic law, which seek to ensure happiness, justice, and harmony within the family. This research recommends reinterpreting kafa’ah beyond social hierarchy toward spiritual, moral, and emotional equilibrium as the foundation of a harmonious marriage.
