Abstract

This study explores the experiences of English language learners engaging in interactive exercises for the purpose of building vocabulary skills. Understanding learners' experiences with interactive exercises for building vocabulary skills is crucial to inform and enhance teaching methodologies in language education. A qualitative research approach was adopted for this study, wherein interviews were conducted with university students enrolled in English programs. The results show that interactive exercises, such as digital games and group activities, significantly increase the motivation and engagement of students in learning. Participant pointed out that not only did such activities make learning fun, but they also helped them understand acquire more vocabulary. This study pinpoints the importance of incorporating interactive elements into language curricula in order to make the process of learning more dynamic. Emphasizing students' experiences can create an inclusive environment where the students' diverse learning needs are catered for, and this contributes to the improved language proficiency.

Abstract

This study explores the personal experiences of EFL students using ChatGPT to strengthen their speaking skills, especially with real-time feedback. As AI tools like ChatGPT become an integral part of modern education, this research takes a qualitative approach to understand how students truly feel about using this technology. Through in-depth interviews and thematic analysis, we listened to students share how ChatGPT’s instant, interactive feedback helped them gain confidence, improve pronunciation, and speak more fluently. Many described it as a supportive companion in their language-learning journey, making practice sessions feel natural and engaging. While some students faced minor challenges, most appreciated how ChatGPT adapted to their unique needs, creating a safe and encouraging space for practice. This study shows the potential of AI tools like ChatGPT to bring something new and meaningful to language learning, supporting students in ways that go beyond traditional classrooms

Abstract

Studi ini menyelidiki terjemahan frasa "Little Prince" dalam versi bahasa Inggris dan bahasa Indonesia dari The Little Prince karya Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan ekivalensi antara kolokasi dalam kedua versi melalui pendekatan berbasis korpus dan perangkat lunak AntConc. Korpus bahasa Inggris mencatat 173 contoh "Little Prince", sementara versi bahasa Indonesia mencatat 181 contoh "Pangeran Cilik". Analisis ini mengandalkan klasifikasi model untuk mengategorikan kolokasi sebagai kolokasi terikat yang memiliki makna harfiah dalam kedua bahasa. Menurut temuan, terjemahan bahasa Indonesia mempertahankan integritas struktural dan semantik dari teks sumber, tanpa adanya bukti penyederhanaan atau eksplikasi. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa studi terjemahan telah menetapkan pentingnya kompetensi kolokasional, kesetiaan naratif, dan ekivalensi fungsional dalam terjemahan sastra. Studi ini menyoroti nilai analisis berbasis korpus untuk memandu pelatihan penerjemah dan penelitian linguistik lintas budaya.
