Abstract

This study explores the personal experiences of EFL students using ChatGPT to strengthen their speaking skills, especially with real-time feedback. As AI tools like ChatGPT become an integral part of modern education, this research takes a qualitative approach to understand how students truly feel about using this technology. Through in-depth interviews and thematic analysis, we listened to students share how ChatGPT’s instant, interactive feedback helped them gain confidence, improve pronunciation, and speak more fluently. Many described it as a supportive companion in their language-learning journey, making practice sessions feel natural and engaging. While some students faced minor challenges, most appreciated how ChatGPT adapted to their unique needs, creating a safe and encouraging space for practice. This study shows the potential of AI tools like ChatGPT to bring something new and meaningful to language learning, supporting students in ways that go beyond traditional classrooms

Abstract

EFL learners need to have enough knowledge of english ability outcomes. This study explores the role of two prominent teaching methodologies Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) in enhancing English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners' outcomes. English is essential for Indonesian students to access global knowledge, making effective teaching methodologies crucial for language acquisition. The study aims to compare CLT and TBLT, focusing on their contributions to developing EFL learners' discourse competence, communicative ability, and overall proficiency. Using a qualitative library research approach, this study reviews existing literature on both methodologies, examining their theoretical frameworks and classroom applications. The discussion highlights how CLT fosters communicative competence through real-life communication and how TBLT enhances language skills through task-based interactions. Both methods promote active participation, with CLT focusing on oral communication and TBLT on task completion. The study concludes that integrating both approaches can offer a comprehensive framework for optimizing EFL teaching practices, leading to improved language proficiency in diverse learning contexts.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between informal study frequency and test scores among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners to determine whether non-traditional study habits contribute to academic performance. Employing a correlational research design, data were collected from a sample of EFL learners through self-reported study frequency surveys and standardized English test scores. The Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient was used to analyze the data, given the non-normal distribution of the variables. The results reveal no statistically significant correlation between informal study frequency and test scores, as indicated by a weak Spearman’s rho and a high p-value. These findings suggest that informal study habits may not directly influence test performance in the observed sample, emphasizing the complexity of factors affecting EFL learners’ academic outcomes. While informal learning remains an essential aspect of language acquisition, its measurable impact on standardized assessments warrants further investigation. Future research could benefit from a larger sample size and the inclusion of additional variables, such as formal study practices, learner motivation, or access to resources, to provide a more comprehensive understanding of how various factors interact to influence EFL test performance. This study highlights the importance of cautious interpretation when analyzing the role of informal learning in academic achievement.
