Abstract

Abstract

Quail eggs offer numerous health benefits, including enhancing the immune system, supporting brain growth and development, and repairing damaged cells. Indonesia has key quail egg production centers in East Java, with the Jabodetabek area serving as the primary consumer market. This has led to price disparities between the two regions at the producer level. From October 2023 to September 2024, the average price of quail eggs at the producer level in East Java was IDR 30,738 per kg, while in the Jabodetabek area, it was IDR 32,738 per kg. The highest prices in both regions were recorded in May, with the lowest prices observed in December. In May, the price of quail eggs in Jabodetabek reached IDR 36,000 per kg, while in December, it dropped to IDR 22,000 per kg. In East Java, the price in May was IDR 34,000 per kg, and in December, it decreased to IDR 20,000 per kg. The most significant price fluctuations in Jabodetabek occurred in February, with a coefficient of variation (CV) of 0.739, while in East Java, the highest fluctuations were recorded in both November and February, with a slightly higher CV of 0.740.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the supplementation of encapsulated fermerherbafit on feed intake and final body weight of male Sentul chickens. The study used 60 male white Sentul chickens, housed individually in battery cages and raised for 30 days. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was employed, consisting of five treatment groups with four replications each. The treatments were as follows: R0: 0% fermerherbafit supplementation (control), R1: 2% non-encapsulated fermerherbafit supplementation, R2: 2% encapsulated fermerherbafit supplementation, R3: 4% encapsulated fermerherbafit supplementation, and R4: 6% encapsulated fermerherbafit supplementation. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The average daily feed intake of male Sentul chickens ranged from 75.22 g/bird/day to 78.45 g/bird/day, with an overall average of 77.00 g/bird/day. The final body weight ranged from 1,417 g/bird to 1,540 g/bird, with an overall average of 1,469 g/bird. The results of the variance analysis indicated that fermerherbafit supplementation had no statistically significant effect on feed intake or final body weight of male Sentul chickens. The study concluded that supplementation of encapsulated fermeherbafit up to a level of 6% in the feed did not significantly affect feed intake and has not yet been able to increase the final body weight of Sentul male chickens. Abstract

Abstract

Livestock farming plays a crucial role in providing food, raw materials, and essential services through animal breeding and management. This study aimed to provide an overview of the diseases affecting broiler chickens based on a case study from a commercial poultry company in Serang Regency, Banten Province, Indonesia. Data were collected from production cycles between 2021 and 2023, and disease identification was performed using a pathological diagnostic approach. The findings, presented descriptively in tabular form, indicated that broilers were affected by omphalitis, Newcastle disease, infectious bursal disease, chronic respiratory disease (CRD), colibacillosis, and aspergillosis. Colibacillosis was the most prevalent disease, with an incidence rate of 76%. These results highlight the importance of continuous disease monitoring and management to reduce mortality, maintain productivity, and ensure sustainability in the broiler industry
