Abstract

The community's habit of storing unnecessary, expired, and damaged medicines as well as the lack of knowledge about the correct way to dispose of medicines are problems that need to be followed up. One of the efforts to increase community knowledge is through education on how to properly dispose of medicines. Education through this service activity was carried out in the community in RT 004, RW 013 Pasir Angin Village, Cileungsi, West Java. Education was provided using the lecture method and leaflet media. The level of knowledge was assessed using a questionnaire before and after education. The service activities have been carried out well and the participants were enthusiastic during the activities. The results of the knowledge score analysis showed that there was a significant increase in knowledge before and after the activity (p<0.05).

Abstract

Indonesian children still have limited access to books, and reading activities have not become a culture in Indonesia. This problem worsens with the Covid-19 pandemic because many schools were closed or changing the method to learning from home. In addition to reading, health literacy is also crucial during this pandemic. This service activity aims to increase interest in reading through training and establishing the children's reading park. The method used was training and diffusion of science and technology. The training was conducted online through video conferencing applications and live streaming via popular video sites. Evaluation of activities was carried out using a pre-test and post-test. More than 80 participants joined the training activities. From the questionnaire results, there was an increase in the average score of the participants after receiving the training. The children's reading park has been formed and is ready to be opened to the public. The procurement of books was carried out through grants from donors, and more than 300 reading books were collected.

Abstract

The practice of self-medication is relatively high among Indonesian people. Inappropriate self-medication practices can have a negative impact. One of the diseases that is often treated with self-medication is a skin disease. Community service activities were carried out on February 19, 2023, at the Al Barokah Musholla, Cileungsi. The activity was attended by 27 participants consisting of mothers. The method used in this activity was Community Based Interactive Approach (CBIA). The activity begins with a presentation about the management of skin disease. Furthermore, participants were divided into several groups, and participants were asked to discuss the medicines that had been provided. Participants put the results of the discussion on a worksheet accompanied by a tutor. Participants filled out pre-test and post-test questionnaires to see changes after being given education. The results of statistical analysis showed that there was an increase in participants' knowledge after being given education with a p-value of 0.011. It can be concluded that self-medication counseling activities on skin diseases with the CBIA method can increase participants' knowledge

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out in the society-based library blok E, Pasir Angin village, Cileungsi, Jawa Barat. This activity aimed to increase the knowledge and skills of society-based library administrators in managing their society-based library.  Furthermore, a coloring competition for kids and counseling on healthy and safe snacks was also held which aimed to increase public knowledge and at the same time encourage public interest in visiting this society-based library. The training activities were carried out using the discussion method and practice on how to classify books, make catalog cards, book call numbers, and the membership lists of society-based libraries. Counseling activity was carried out using lecture and discussion methods. Evaluation of the training activity was carried out using the interview method, while the counseling activity was evaluated using a questionnaire instrument. The result be achieved from this activity is that the administrators can manage the society-based library well so that they are able to foster public interest in visiting and at the same time stimulate public interest in reading.

Abstract

Antibiotic resistence is a serious global problem that can increase morbidity, mortality and medical costs. Vocational school students can act as agents of change to prevent antibiotic misuse in society. This service activity was carried out at SMK Swadaya Global School, Buaran, East Jakarta with a total of 30 participants. Education was carried out with lectures and followed by a Forum Group Discussion (FGD). Students were divided into 3 groups and each group was accompanied by a facilitator. Each group was given a case about the use of antibiotics in the community. The service activities were carried out well and students participated in the activities enthusiastically during the activities. The results of the Wilcoxon analysis showed that there was an increase in students' knowledge and attitudes towards antibiotic use after the activity (p value< 0.001).
