Abstract

This study aims to compare the political economy of the Roman-Persian period and the contemporary era through an Islamic perspective, especially in terms of resource management, wealth distribution, and the influence of policies on society, such as social inequality, resource exploitation, and moral crisis. The research method used is a literature study with a qualitative approach using literature studies on secondary sources. The results showed that the Roman-Persian economic and political system, although effective in maintaining imperial stability, tended to create social inequality due to high taxes and territorial exploitation. Meanwhile, the contemporary economic system presents technological innovation and global economic integration, but it is vulnerable to economic crises and injustices. The conclusion of this study is that Islamic principles such as zakat, the prohibition of usury, and the fair distribution of wealth can be an alternative solution to build a just and sustainable economic system, both in the past and in the present.

Abstract

This study investigates the comparative dynamics of economic politics during the Roman-Persian period and the contemporary era through the lens of Islamic economic principles. It explores key dimensions such as resource management, wealth distribution, and the societal impact of policy, particularly in relation to social inequality, resource exploitation, and moral degradation. Employing a qualitative methodology based on an extensive literature review of secondary sources, this research reveals that while the Roman-Persian political economy succeeded in maintaining imperial stability, it also perpetuated significant social disparities through excessive taxation and territorial exploitation. In contrast, the modern economic paradigm, driven by technological innovation and global integration, remains susceptible to systemic crises and widening inequities. The findings suggest that core Islamic tenets—namely zakat, the prohibition of usury (riba), and equitable wealth distribution—offer a normative framework for constructing a more just and resilient economic order, both historically and in contemporary contexts.

Abstract

This systematic review study analyzes the factors influencing food waste in various countries from the perspective of Hifzhul Bi'ah. The problem of food waste is a significant challenge because it impacts global food availability. From an Islamic ethical perspective, this phenomenon contradicts the principles of Hifzhul Bi'ah (Environmental Jurisprudence), which aims to realize the public good and prevent damage (israf) on earth. This study used a Systematic Review method based on PRISMA guidelines, reviewing 15 articles published between 2020–2025, predominantly from Indonesia. Most studies applied the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM PLS) methodology. Key factors that consistently influence food waste are Attitude, Subjective Norms, and Behavioral Control, as well as additional factors relevant to the moral aspects of Hifzhul Bi'ah, such as Religiosity and Environmental Awareness. The findings indicate that food waste is a multifactorial phenomenon, involving internal psychological/moral and external social/economic dimensions. A holistic and contextual mitigation strategy is needed, which explicitly integrates the sharia guidance of Hifzhul Bi'ah, to encourage sustainable anti-waste behavior and support the achievement of the SDGs

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between Islamic monetary policy and Indonesia’s economic development through a systematic literature review (SLR) approach. The research aims to identify how Islamic monetary instruments contribute to achieving national economic goals of justice, equality, and sustainable growth. Data were collected from thirteen indexed journal publications in Scopus, DOAJ, and Sinta databases that discuss Islamic monetary policy and its role in Indonesia’s economy. The results show that Islamic monetary instruments such as the Wadiah Bank Indonesia Certificate (SWBI) and the Interbank Mudarabah Investment Certificate (IMA) enhance liquidity management, stabilize prices, reduce unemployment, and promote equitable wealth distribution. The findings indicate that Islamic monetary frameworks contribute significantly to financial stability, real-sector productivity, and social welfare. However, structural and institutional challenges remain, including regulatory inconsistencies and limited integration between Islamic banking and national monetary policy. The study contributes theoretically by reinforcing the role of Sharia-based instruments in achieving maqasid al-shariah and practically by offering insights for policymakers to strengthen coordination, financial literacy, and innovation in Sharia-compliant monetary mechanisms. Future research should incorporate empirical and econometric models to assess the quantitative impact of Islamic monetary policy on key macroeconomic indicators such as inflation, employment, and GDP growth.
