Abstract

The ability of students to comprehend hikayat texts remains a challenge due to the linguistic complexity of hikayat, which incorporates both standard Malay and archaic forms. This study aims to address the question of an effective learning model that can provide optimal solutions for the students of class XE-7 at MAN 2 Malang City. Using a qualitative approach, the research employed interviews with teachers to identify learning-related problems, classroom observations to examine the learning environment, and documentation as evidence for the learning process and outcomes. Data collection included questionnaires to evaluate students’ experiences during the learning process and their comprehension of hikayat texts. The findings revealed that contextual learning methods significantly enhanced students' ability to understand and engage with hikayat texts. The students demonstrated strong performance in answering questions related to the material and reported that contextual learning made lessons more comprehensible and engaging. These results suggest that incorporating contextual learning strategies can improve student comprehension and learning outcomes in studying hikayat texts.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning assisted by Glide media on the competency of writing anecdotal texts of grade X TKRA students at SMKS PGRI 3 Malang City. The research uses a experiment method with a quasi-experimental design of a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Data were analyzed through normality test, independent t-test, Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, and Mann–Whitney U test<. The results of the Wilcoxon test showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value < 0.001, while the Mann–Whitney U test showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.007 < 0.05. The findings showed a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group. Thus, CTL learning assisted by Glide media has a significant effect on improving the competence of writing anecdotal texts and is suitable for use as an interactive learning medium at SMKS. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) berbantuan media Glide terhadap kompetensi menulis teks anekdot peserta didik kelas X TKRA di SMKS PGRI 3 Kota Malang. Penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan desain kuasi eksperimen Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Data dianalisis melalui uji normalitas, independent t-test, uji Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, dan uji Mann–Whitney U. Hasil uji normalitas menunjukkan data tidak berdistribusi normal dengan nilai Sig. < 0,001. Hasil uji Wilcoxon menunjukkan nilai Sig. (2-tailed) < 0,001, sedangkan uji Mann–Whitney U menunjukkan nilai Sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0,007 < 0,05. Temuan tersebut menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Dengan demikian, pembelajaran CTL berbantuan media Glide berpengaruh signifikan dalam meningkatkan kompetensi menulis teks anekdot dan layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran interaktif di SMKS.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the representation of power in media coverage related to the Draft Law on the Indonesian National Army (RUU TNI) through the Critical Discourse Analysis (AWK) approach developed by Teun A. van Dijk. The main focus of the study is how the media can frame political issues that will be pros and cons in the public sphere as well as the representation of the power relations between the government and the military. This study uses a qualitative method with a reading-listening technique in news articles from online media that discuss the RUU TNI. Through Van Dijk's three-dimensional model (social cognition, social context, and text consisting of macro, micro, and superstructure structures), it was found that media discourse tends to show bias regarding the military's efforts to expand its role in the civilian sphere. The results of this study indicate that the media not only functions as a means of conveying information, but also as an ideological form that can produce or challenge existing power structures. Thus, the representation of the RUU TNI in the media can be a focus of the meaning of power that is important to criticize in the context of democracy and civilian supremacy over the military.
