Abstract

ABSTRACT Plastic waste is one of the significant environmental challenges, especially in areas with limited waste management. This service aims to explore the implementation of ecobricks as a solution to reduce plastic waste in Pematang Panjang Village. Ecobricks are a recycling method that utilizes plastic bottles to store small plastic waste, which can then be used as construction materials for various purposes. This article describes the process of socialization, training, and making ecobricks, as well as evaluating its effectiveness in reducing the volume of plastic waste and increasing public awareness and involvement in waste management. The results of the service show that the implementation of ecobricks in this village has succeeded in reducing plastic waste and encouraging the community to be more active in protecting the environment. In addition, ecobricks also provide additional benefits as an alternative to sustainable construction materials. This study recommends the application of the ecobrick model in other communities as an effective strategy in plastic waste management and increasing environmental awareness.
