Abstract

The research aims to determine the effect of the ethnoscience approach through the problem-based learning model on the chemical literacy skills of Grade XI students in the reaction rate material at SMA Negeri 7 Gorontalo. The research employs a quasi experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of Grade XI IPA ( Natural Science) students from SMA Negeri 7 Gorontalo. The instrument used in this research was an essay test. Data processing and analysis were conducted using Microsoft Office Excel and SPSS version 16. The hypothesis test results on students’ post-test data using the Mann-Whitney test at a significance level of α = 0.05 showed that the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value was less than 0.05 (0,002 < 0,05). Therefore, H1 was confirmed, and H0 was rejected. The N- Gain test results also indicated that the ethnoscience approach through the problem-based learning model was moderately effective in improving students’ chemical literacy skills in reaction rate material, with the experimental class achieving an N-Gain score percentage of 57.13% (moderately effective category), while the control class achieved a percentage of 31.42% (ineffective category). In conclusion, the ethnoscience approach through the problem-based learning model significantly affects students’ chemical literacy skills in reaction rate material.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effect of storage duration on the quality of flying fish soaked in coconut shell liquid smoke. The main focus of the research includes testing water and phenol content, as well as evaluating the resistance of liquid smoke to sensory qualities, such as taste, aroma and texture of flying fish. The research used liquid smoke with varying concentrations of 0%, 3%, 5% and 7%, with a soaking time of 30 minutes. Data analysis was carried out using SPSS version 26 with the ANOVA test method. The results showed that the addition of liquid smoke with different concentrations had a significant influence on water content, phenol content and organoleptic parameters of flying fish.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the secondary metabolite compounds present in the ethanol extract of Plukenetia volubilis L. (sacha inchi) shells through phytochemical screening and LC-MS analysis. The extraction was performed using the maceration method with 95% ethanol as solvent, resulting in a yield of 47.33%. Qualitative phytochemical tests revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, terpenoids, saponins, and glycosides in the extract. Further LC-MS analysis tentatively identified several phenolic and flavonoid compounds with known biological activities, including sinapinic acid, 1-o-sinapoylglucose, and azelaic acid from the dicarboxylic acid group. The presence of these compounds highlights the potential of sacha inchi shell extract as a natural antioxidant and antidiabetic agent. These findings support the valorization of sacha inchi agricultural waste as a promising raw material for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications.

Abstract

This study aims to identify differences in student learning outcomes between those who receive learning using the Quantum Teaching model and those who receive conventional learning on the material of reaction rates at SMA Negeri 1 Tapa. This study is a quantitative study that applies a quasi-experimental method through a control group design with pretest and posttest. The results of the study indicate that after the application of the Quantum Teaching learning model in the experimental class and the use of the conventional learning model in the control class, there was an increase in student learning outcomes. The average pretest score of the experimental class was 34.37 and the posttest score reached 77.31, while for the control class, the average pretest score was 39 and the posttest score was 58.21. It can be seen that both groups of classes showed significant progress , which can be seen from the higher scores in the experimental group when compared to the control group . The hypothesis was tested through a mean test ( t- test ). The results of the Paired Sample t-test in the experimental group showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results, with a significance value of 0.000 , which is much lower than the limit of α = 0.05. This study shows that learning using the Quantum Teaching model has a positive impact on improving students' conceptual understanding.
