Abstract

The purpose of this activity is to strengthen the values of religious moderation and inclusivity among young generations, particularly students of SMA Buddhis Bodhicitta Medan, to become tolerant, open-minded individuals who appreciate diversity in a multicultural society. This activity responds to the need for character education that not only focuses on academic aspects but also develops social attitudes and humanitarian values essential for living together peacefully and harmoniously. The methods used involve an interactive and participatory approach through group discussions, interfaith guest lectures, role-playing simulations, and guided reflection sessions. This approach provides space for students to internalize experiences and values of tolerance and respect for differences in daily life. The results showed a significant increase in students’ awareness and openness toward religious and cultural differences, reflected in their active participation and reflective responses. The program also successfully created a more inclusive school climate, built safe and constructive dialogue spaces, and encouraged collaboration among students that strengthened solidarity and mutual respect. In conclusion, this structured and reflective character education program effectively shapes a young generation that upholds the values of tolerance, inclusivity, and peace. This model has great potential to be replicated in various educational institutions as a strategic effort to strengthen interreligious harmony and maintain national unity in pluralistic Indonesia.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the role of religiosity values in building environmental awareness with a holistic approach to achieve sustainability. Using qualitative methods, data are collected through interviews, observations, and document studies on religion-based communities in Indonesia, such as Islamic boarding schools, churches, and other spiritual groups. The study found that religious values, such as caliph in Islam, stewardship in Christianity, and ahimsa in Hindu-Buddhism, become the moral foundation that encourages communities to maintain harmony with nature. These values motivate spiritually-based environmental practices, such as tree planting, waste management, and water conservation, which are often associated with religious rituals. However, the successful implementation of religiosity values in environmental programs faces several challenges, including differences in the interpretation of religious teachings, limited resources, and lack of policy support. To address these challenges, a holistic approach that integrates spiritual values, science, and technology has proven effective. For example, the use of environmentally friendly technology combined with religious teachings shows significant results in increasing public awareness and participation. This study concludes that the values of religiosity have great potential in building sustainable environmental awareness and behavior, especially when integrated with a cross-sectoral approach. These findings make practical and theoretical contributions in supporting spirituality-based environmental movements, while opening up space for further development to create a more ecologically and spiritually sustainable future.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the relationship between Pancasila and religion in shaping and strengthening inclusivism in Indonesia, from the proclamation period to the contemporary era. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data was collected through literature studies, historical documentation, and interviews with religious leaders and academics. The results of the study show that since the beginning of independence, Pancasila has been formulated as the basis of an inclusive state and able to accommodate religious diversity through the precepts of the One Godhead. The state plays an active role in strengthening inclusivity through official religious recognition policies, the establishment of the Forum for Religious Harmony (FKUB), and multicultural education. Social practices such as interfaith dialogue and joint religious celebrations reflect the application of Pancasila values in daily life. However, this study also found challenges such as increasing intolerance, radicalism, and identity politics that hinder the spirit of togetherness. Therefore, strengthening inclusivism requires synergy between the state and society through the internalization of Pancasila values, religious moderation, and the strengthening of the law against discriminatory actions. This research emphasizes that Pancasila and religion are not entities that contradict each other, but complement each other in realizing a just, peaceful, and harmonious society.
