Abstract

This study aims to analyse political education programs and their impact on the level of voter participation in the 2024 General Election in Banggai Regency. Using a qualitative method with a case study approach, data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Primary data was obtained from the General Election Commission, Election Supervisory Agency, political parties, National and Political Unity, and voters in Banggai Regency. Secondary data was obtained from journals, books, and reports on the implementation of the 2024 elections. The results showed that political education programs such as voter education socialisation. The results of this programme have implications for voter participation, which is reflected in the increase in turnout in the 2024 elections to 80.83%, compared to 79.47% in the 2019 elections. Nonetheless, several factors such as voters' limited cognitive, affective and evaluative abilities, as well as limited access to information and economic instability, proved to be obstacles affecting political participation. This study recommends that election administrators improve the effectiveness of political education programmes by actively involving voters in these programmes, in order to encourage more optimal participation.

Abstract

This study aimed to understand how the police play a role in addressing criminal acts of sexual abuse against minors and to identify the factors that contribute to the occurrence of such crimes. This research employed a juridical empirical approach, which merges legal methods with empirical data from field studies involving the police, case documentation, literature reviews, and relevant legal materials. The study findings indicated that the police's role in handling child sexual abuse includes preventive, preemptive, repressive, and restorative aspects. In the preventive and preemptive aspects, the police conduct legal counseling, child protection campaigns, and cooperate with schools and communities to provide awareness about the dangers of sexual violence. In the repressive aspect, the police conduct investigations and legal actions against perpetrators based on applicable laws and regulations, such as the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP) and Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Indonesian Criminal Code. The restorative role is manifested through victim assistance and psychological and social recovery for children who are victims.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the impact of alcoholic beverage (liquor) consumption among teenagers and to identify both preventive and repressive efforts in addressing such behavior in Moyag Todulan Village, Kotamobagu Timur Subdistrict, Kotamobagu City. The phenomenon of alcohol consumption among teenagers shows a worrying trend, marked by an increase in juvenile delinquency, fights, and social disturbances that concern the community. This research used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method and data collection techniques including interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that alcohol consumption leads to various negative effects such as physical health issues, dependency, declining academic performance, and even law violations. Contributing factors include social environmental influences, lack of parental supervision, and low awareness among teenagers regarding the dangers of alcohol. Mitigation efforts are carried out through preventive measures like public awareness campaigns and repressive actions such as law enforcement and rehabilitation programs. This research recommends the active involvement of all elements, including parents, schools, and the government, in creating an environment free from the negative influence of alcohol to ensure a better future for the youth.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the role of social media in shaping the political perception of youth in Tanggikiki Urban Village during the 2024 General Election. In the increasingly advanced digital era, platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook serve not only as communication tools but also as instruments for political campaigns, spaces for political education, and platforms for expressing political views among young voters. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data are collected through interviews, observations, and documentation from various informants, including young people, local officials, and members of the election supervisory committee. The findings reveal that social media plays an active role in shaping political opinions among the youth, encouraging participation in political discussions, and increasing awareness of electoral issues. However, negative impacts also arise, such as the spread of hoaxes, opinion polarization, and the creation of echo chambers that limit political perspectives. Therefore, digital literacy is essential for enabling youth to use social media critically and responsibly in support of a healthy democratic process.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dynamics of elections from a supervisory perspective, focusing on the role of the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) in addressing money politics practices in Gorontalo City. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, using data collection techniques such as interviews, documentation, and direct observation of monitoring and violation-handling processes. The results show that although Gorontalo City Bawaslu operates under a strong legal foundation—namely Law Number 7 of 2017 and Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perpu) Number 1 of 2022—its implementation still faces numerous challenges on the ground. Out of 11 reported cases of alleged money politics, only 7 were successfully registered, while the rest could not be pursued legally. Four of these were categorized as serious violations, involving administrative, ethical, and criminal offenses. The main obstacles faced by Bawaslu include low public participation in reporting, limited access to the reporting system, insufficient supervisory capacity at lower levels, and weak law enforcement. Nevertheless, Bawaslu has taken several improvement initiatives, such as the Anti-Money Politics Village program and the use of social media for participatory supervision. The study concludes that the performance of Gorontalo City Bawaslu in handling money politics remains suboptimal and calls for comprehensive reforms in terms of resources, transparency, and strengthened collaboration with the public and law enforcement institutions to ensure clean, fair, and democratic elections.

Abstract

The collaborative community service program conducted by lecturers and students of the Civic Education Department, Faculty of Social Sciences, Gorontalo State University, aimed to strengthen legal awareness among students of SMA Negeri 1 Telaga as an effort to prevent legal violations from an early age. This program was motivated by the low level of students’ understanding of legal values, as identified through preliminary observations. The implementation adopted a participatory approach that emphasized students’ active involvement in various educational activities, including legal counseling, group discussions, case simulations, and digital-based legal awareness campaigns. The stages of implementation consisted of preparation (needs analysis, activity planning, and coordination with the school) and execution (legal education sessions, integration into learning activities, extracurricular programs, and evaluation). The results indicated a significant improvement in students’ legal knowledge and attitudes, where they began to perceive law not merely as a coercive instrument but as a moral and social guideline that ensures order and justice. Moreover, students demonstrated behavioral changes toward greater discipline, responsibility, and awareness of the legal consequences of their actions. This program shows that civic education effectively fosters strong legal character and serves as a foundation for developing young generations who are law-abiding, have integrity, and contribute positively to society and the natio.
