Abstract

Punaga Village, Laikang District, Takalar Regency, is a village where the majority of residents are farmers and planters. Organic kitchen waste is a serious problem faced by many local communities, besides producing unpleasant odors, it can also disturb the beauty of the environment. This problem continues to exist due to the local community's lack of knowledge or skills in managing organic kitchen waste. So a service activity was carried out, namely training in making Eco enzyme. This training aims to increase public knowledge about the management of kitchen organic waste. Eco enzyme solution is the result of fermentation of leftover fruit and vegetables mixed with water and brown sugar. The method used in service consists of several stages including: (1) Observation and Interview, (2) Preparation Stage, (3) Implementation Stage. This activity is carried out by providing training and assistance directly to the community. This training was attended by 28 participants from several groups, including the village government, youth organizations, and the Punaga village community. In this training, participants were taught how to make Eco enzyme, starting from the ingredient preparation stage, making the mixture to the fermentation stage. The training participants were very enthusiastic about taking part in the training, the participants thought that this training was useful for them, because it could increase people's insight into managing waste. The result of this service is an increase in the community's potential in making Eco enzymes. Among the 28 participants who attended, there were 22 people who were categorized as being able to understand the material provided well. The next implication of this activity is that it can be used as a profit activity by selling products that have been made, so that this activity is sustainable.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the total phenolic content and antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of matoa (Pometia pinnata) leaves and their effect on the cholesterol levels of male mice (Mus musculus). To determine the total phenolic content using the Folin-Ciocalteu method and the DPPH method to measure antioxidant activity. The effect of matoa leaf extract on reducing cholesterol levels in mice used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 15 mice divided into 5 treatment groups with 3 replications, namely P1 (Extract 175 mg/kgBW), P2 (Extract 350 mg/kgBW), P3 (Extract 700 mg/kgBW), K+ (Simvastatin 0.10 mg/kgBW), and K- (Na-CMC 1%). Extraction uses the maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent. The total phenolic test results were 26.24872 mgGAE/g. The results of measuring antioxidant activity obtained an IC50 of 1,961 ppm. The results of testing cholesterol levels showed that there was an effect of giving ethanol extract of Matoa (Pometia pinnata) leaves on reducing cholesterol levels in male mice (Mus musculus). Giving ethanol extract of Matoa leaves at a dose of 350 mg/kgBW is effective in reducing cholesterol levels. So it can be concluded that the ethanol extract of Matoa leaves has an effect on reducing cholesterol levels in male mice.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the total phenolic content and antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract from Matoa (Pometia pinnata) leaves as well as its effect on blood sugar levels in male mice (Mus musculus) induced with alloxan. To determine total phenolic content using the Folin-Ciocalteu method, and the DPPH method to measure antioxidant activity. The effect of Matoa leaves on blood sugar reduction in mice used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 15 mice divided into 5 treatments with 3 replications: namely P1 (Extract 125 mg/kg BW), P2 (Extract 250 mg/kg BW), P3 (Extract 500 mg/kg BW), K+ (Glibenclamide), and K- (Na-CMC 0.5%). Extraction used the maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent. The results of the total phenolic test showed the presence of phenolics with a value of 26.24872 mg GAE/g. The measurement of antioxidant activity yielded an IC50 value of 1.961 ppm. The results of testing the blood sugar levels showed that there was an effect of giving ethanol extract of Matoa (Pometia pinnata) leaves on reducing blood sugar levels in male mice (Mus musculus).
