Abstract

Teacher assistance activities for students who have low reading abilities at the UPTD SD Negeri Koeloda school are activities carried out by teachers to accompany students who still have low reading abilities, especially in pronouncing letters and spelling words. The aim of this activity is to provide assistance to students who have low abilities, especially class I students at UPTD SD Negeri Koeloda in pronouncing letters, spelling letters, reading sentences and reading texts. The research method carried out was using the direct observation method which was carried out through mentoring activities carried out through mentoring activities by teachers which were carried out for 4 months. The results of this research are: the mentoring activities carried out for class I students at UPTD SD Negeri Koeloda had a positive impact on students who had low abilities so they could pronounce letters, spell words, read sentences and read texts well. Apart from that, the mentoring activities carried out can provide opportunities for teachers to play an important role so that students are able to perform and develop their ability to read well.

Abstract

This community service program (PKM) is an integral part of the Thematic Community Service Program (KKN) carried out by lecturers and students of the Seventh Semester of the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD) at STKIP Citra Bakti. This PkM focused on the importance of providing and utilizing reading materials in elementary schools that not only meet child-friendly criteria (appropriate for age, language, and developmental psychology) but are also based on specific local culture. Specifically, this activity is directed at identifying reading materials that integrate the values and heritage of the Ngadhu Bhaga Ethnic Group, which is the dominant cultural identity in the Bajawa District area. This activity was carried out in seven elementary schools in the Bajawa District, Ngada Regency. The approach used was a qualitative approach with a descriptive survey type. Data collection techniques were carried out through 3 techniques, namely collection inventory, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. Based on the identification results, it can be concluded that the availability of reading materials in elementary schools in Bajawa District, Ngada Regency, is still not optimal in supporting the strengthening of local culture-based literacy. Child-friendly reading materials that explicitly highlight Bajawa local values, stories, and wisdom were found to be very minimal, which resulted in hampering efforts to contextualize learning and strengthen students' cultural identity.

Abstract

Social Studies learning in elementary schools is intended not only to help students understand social concepts but also to provide experiences in cooperation, responsibility, caring, appreciation, and communal life. This study aimed to develop a Ngadhu Bhaga-based Social Studies supplementary book for second-grade elementary school students and to determine the product’s feasibility and initial practicality. The study employed Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model, comprising Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data were collected through needs-analysis interviews, expert validation, observation, documentation, and product trials. Validation was conducted by a subject-matter expert, an instructional-design expert, a media expert, and a language expert. The individual trial involved three students, while the small-group trial involved five students. Qualitative data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, whereas quantitative data were analyzed using feasibility percentages. The results showed feasibility percentages of 100% from the subject-matter expert, 98.61% from the instructional-design expert, 98.33% from the media expert, and 100% from the language expert. The trials indicated that the book was easy to read and understand, attractive, and usable in learning activities. The novelty of the product lies in positioning Ngadhu Bhaga not merely as cultural content but as a pedagogical context that connects Social Studies concepts, students’ social experiences, and social values. The product can serve as supplementary material for more contextual and culturally responsive Social Studies learning.
