Abstract

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has caused limitations, one of which is contraceptive services. The impact of this pandemic is different in each region. In Indonesia, there was a decrease in family planning acceptors at the beginning of the pandemic and it is feared that there will be a baby boom after the pandemic. During the pandemic, Surabaya was one of the areas with high COVID-19 cases. However, contrary to existing concerns, the number of pregnancies in Surabaya has actually decreased during 2020 (during the pandemic). One of the contraceptive health services in this area is at Jagir Community Health Center. Objectives: This study aims to determine the differences in contraceptive use before and during the COVID-19 pandemic at Jagir Community Health Center. Methods: This research method is quantitative through an observational analytic design.The sample size was 269 acceptors with a sampling technique using total sample method from family planning acceptors at the Jagir Health Center for the period March 2019 - February 2021 which included inclusion criteria. Data collection using medical records. Results: The results showed that the majority of acceptors before and during the pandemic were 20-35 years old with parity ≤ 2. Based on the chi-square test, the difference in contraceptive use before and during the COVID-19 pandemic (p-value <0.05), where during the pandemic there was a decrease in non-MKJP acceptors and an increase in MKJP acceptors. Conclusions: There is a significant difference in contraceptive use before and during the COVID-19 pandemic at Jagir Community Health Center.

Abstract

Introduction: Asthma is a heterogeneous disease, typically characterized by chronic airway inflammation. The condition is defined by a history of respiratory symptoms, including wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing, which vary over time and intensity, in addition to variable expiratory airflow limitation. As the prevalence of asthma in the community continues to increase, cases of asthma in pregnancy are also becoming more common. This study aims to determine the prevalence of asthma among pregnant women at Rumah Sakit Universitas Airlangga during 2022-2023. Objectives: The objective of this study is to determine the prevalence of asthma among pregnant women at Rumah Sakit Universitas Airlangga during the period of 2022-2023. Methods: This study employed a descriptive quantitative method with a cross-sectional research design. Data measurement and observation were conducted at a single time point using secondary data from January 2022 to December 2023 in a retrospective manner. Results: Among 8.170 pregnant women at Rumah Sakit Universitas Airlangga, 25 were diagnosed with asthma, resulting in a prevalence of 0,31%. Conclusions: The data indicates that the prevalence of pregnant women with asthma diagnoses at Rumah Sakit Universitas Airlangga was lower than the 0.31% reported in previous literature.

Abstract

Intrauterine fetus death is a very shocking condition, both physically and emotional. TheWorldHealth Organization recommend spacing pregnancy at at least 6 months after Intrauterine Fetal Death to reduce the risk of future problems pregnancies. The use of contraception is one of the important elements in pregnancy planning to allow time for the mother to undergo a complete medical evaluation, stabilize her health condition, and get the necessary psychological counseling. Case report : In this case study, assistance was provided toMrs. VA, a 25-year-old housewife, G2P1001 with underweight and chronic energy deficiency. At 25/26 weeks of pregnancy, Mrs. VA was diagnosed with Intrauterine Fetal Death. During the postpartum period, the companion made home visits by providing support to the mother after Intrauterine Fetal Death and providing validation of what the mother felt. Husband and family also always become a support system for the mother by helping to do homework so that the mother does not do heavy activities at home. After the situation improved, the companion began to provide education and information about prepare for the next healthy pregnancy. Conclusion : Risk factors for Intrauterine Fetal Death based on cases are the state of the mother who has a lower body mass index and is included in chronic energy deficiency. Based on recommendations from the World Health Organization spacing pregnancy for at at least 6 months after Intrauterine Fetal Death. Interventions in the form of counseling, social support, and health education can help mother deal with grief and restore emotional balance and maternal identity.

Abstract

Background: Early marriage and teenage pregnancy pose serious problems in Indonesia. One in five women worldwide marry before the age of 18, and in Indonesia, approximately 1.22 million teenage girls marry under the age of 18. Low levels of knowledge, education, economic status, and customs greatly encourage early marriage and teenage pregnancy. This highlights the need for effective educational strategies to increase knowledge and awareness among teenagers. This study aims to analyze the effect of using lectures with interactive discussions in educating adolescents about early marriage and teenage pregnancy on their knowledge. Method: This study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one group pretest-posttest design method. All grade X students of State Islamic Senior High School 1 Blitar, East Java Indonesia were included in the study population with a sample of 95 students selected through cluster sampling. Data were collected using a 23-question questionnaire related to early marriage and teenage pregnancy. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Result: The results from the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed a p value of 0.000 (<0.05) which means there is a significant difference in student knowledge before and after the intervention. The percentage of students with good knowledge category increased from 46% before the intervention to 77% after the intervention. Conclusion: The combination of lecture and interactive discussion methods effectively improved students' understanding of early marriage and teenage pregnancy.
