Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem in toddlers which is characterized by shorter height compared to children their age. The incidence of short toddlers or commonly known as stunting is one of the nutritional problems experienced by toddlers in the world today. There are 78,572 target families at risk of stunting in Bengkulu Province based on 2023 data. This number has decreased compared to 2022 of 97,327 target families at risk of stunting. In general, stunting cases in Bengkulu are at 20.2 percent. The cause that often occurs in society is the mother's lack of knowledge regarding the nutritional needs of children during the growth period. Stunting in children is caused by nutritional intake of toddlers, the presence of infectious diseases, maternal factors with poor nutrition during preconception, pregnancy and lactation, genetic factors, exclusive breastfeeding, food availability, socio-economic factors, maternal education level, maternal nutritional knowledge and environmental factors. One effort to improve the behavior of mothers of toddlers is through health education. There are 3 cases of stunted children in Kampung Delima Village, for this reason we carry out community service regarding stunting. A total of 3 families with stunted children who were given counseling were able to understand and comprehend the material presented by the presenters regarding meeting children's nutritional needs. As a result of this activity, knowledge about fulfilling nutrition in children has increased after the outreach activities were carried out.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This disease is typically transmitted from person to person through the air when an infected individual coughs, sneezes, or talks. According to the WHO in 2022, Indonesia ranked second in the world for the highest number of TB cases, following India, with approximately 700,000 cases reported, representing 10% of global cases. This figure marks the highest achievement in TB detection in Indonesia's history. The increase in TB cases is influenced by patients' behaviors, such as failing to implement transmission prevention measures like practicing cough etiquette by covering their mouths when coughing or sneezing and not spitting in open areas. This lack of preventive behavior is often due to insufficient knowledge among patients regarding prevention methods. A critical aspect of managing TB cases is the Cure Rate. In 2020, there were 3,268 registered and treated cases in Bengkulu Province, but only 1,322 cases (40%) were declared cured. In Rejang Lebong District, 417 treated cases were recorded in the same year, with only 137 cases (33%) achieving recovery.Data from the annual report of Puskesmas Kampung Delima indicates that TB is one of the programs with low achievement rates, with case detection at only 21.62% of a target of 70%, and a treatment success rate of 0%. The low cure rate at Puskesmas Kampung Delima can be attributed to inadequate education for patients about proper medication adherence and a lack of awareness regarding the importance of consistent medication intake. To address these issues, we conducted community service focused on TB by providing health education to TB cadres working within the Puskesmas Kampung Delima area about the significance of medication supervision for TB patients. One cadre from Kampung Delima village has successfully understood and grasped the material presented regarding the importance of Medication Supervisors (PMO). The results from this activity showed an increase in knowledge about the importance of PMO for TB patients among the cadres after health education was conducted.

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a non-communicable disease often caused by poor dietary habits and lack of physical activity. Irregular eating patterns and physical inactivity need to be addressed to help patients maintain their blood sugar levels. This study aims to examine the relationship between diet, physical activity, and blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Kampung Delima Health Center.Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by elevated blood sugar levels due to problems with the insulin hormone, which helps maintain the body's balance by lowering blood sugar levels (American Diabetes Association, 2017). This disease is heavily influenced by lifestyle, so daily activities such as eating, sleeping, and working must be balanced. The amount and type of food, as well as exercise, need to be carefully managed and should not be neglected. Diabetes mellitus patients must pay attention to their diet, including calorie intake, necessary nutrients, types of food, and regular meal schedules (Sulistyowati, 2017), which describes the types and quantities of food consumed daily. This community service activity was conducted from January 20, 2025, to January 31, 2025. The evaluation of the activity included education on healthy lifestyle habits to reduce the risk of developing diabetes mellitus, aiming to provide advice and education to the community about diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Hypertension Systolic and diastolic blood pressure increases. Hypertension is a diverse group of diseases and is known to be a fatal disease. High blood pressure is a risk factor for premature death, heart failure and brain disease. According to WHO data in 2015, around 1.13 billion people worldwide suffer from hypertension, which means one in three people worldwide are diagnosed with hypertension. This number will continue to increase every year. It is estimated that by 2025, 1.5 billion people will suffer from hypertension, and hypertension and its complications will cause 10.44 million deaths every year. Age and social and economic factors can influence hypertension. The risk of high blood pressure increases with age. This is caused by structural changes in large blood vessels, leading to narrowing of the lumen, hardening of the walls, and increased blood pressure. If not controlled, hypertension can cause complications such as coronary heart disease and stroke, heart failure, kidney failure, peripheral vascular disease and damage to retinal blood vessels which results in visual impairment. This community service has been carried out from January 20 2025 to January 31 2025. Evaluation of activities is based on health education activities for hypertension sufferers. Then, data was obtained on people suffering from hypertension in the village of Delima village, to provide advice and education to the public about hypertension.
