Abstract

The tradition of grave pilgrimage has become a common practice among Muslims in Indonesia, including the community on Pajenekang Island, Pangkep Regency, South Sulawesi. This tradition includes rituals of visiting the graves of Islamic scholars who are considered to have contributed to the spread of Islam, as well as heroes who fought to protect the sovereignty of Pajenekang Island from Dutch colonizers. This practice is a heritage passed down from generation to generation. This study employs a qualitative-descriptive research method with an empirical juridical approach. The findings indicate that the tradition of grave pilgrimage on Pajenekang Island in Pangkep Regency integrates Islamic principles with local cultural customs. This includes rituals such as bringing specific traditional cakes to the gravesite and praying or performing tawassul near the grave. The pilgrimage is conducted on the third Friday of the month of Muharram. The study concludes that, based on the theory of ‘Urf and the principle of Al-‘Adatu Muhakkamah, the tradition of grave pilgrimage on Pajenekang Island is permissible (mubah) as it does not conflict with Islamic teachings. However, attention must be given to the intention and purpose of the pilgrimage to ensure that individuals do not fall into the practice of shirk (idolatry).

The main problem faced in the use of tarjamah method in Arabic language learning is the lack of mastery of mufradah and qawa'id, as well as the lack of listening, speaking, and writing skills. The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the comparison of Arabic learning outcomes through the tarjamah method at Madrasah Aliyah Alkhairaat Palu and Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Palu City. The research method used is quantitative by using data collection techniques in the form of observation and questionnaire. While the analysis techniques used are descriptive statistical analysis and inferential analysis. The results of hypothesis testing (one Sample T-test) showed sig.= 0.000 <0.05 which means there is a significant difference between the tarjamah method applied in class X Madrasah Aliyah Alkhairaat Pusat Palu and Class X Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Palu City. The difference in the application of the tarjamah method has implications for students' learning outcomes, where the Arabic learning outcomes of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Palu City which adopts a more modern and contextual approach is higher than Madrasah Aliyah Alkhairaat Palu which tends to apply the tarjamah method conventionally with a more traditional approach. The results of this study confirm previous research that the use of the tarjamah method in Arabic language learning has a significant impact. In addition, this study also confirmed that the pedagogical approach used in the learning process has a direct impact on student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study discusses the impact of digital technology on Balaghah learning among students. Through the implementation of interactive media, educational videos, and gamification elements, the literature indicates potential improvements in students' understanding of Arabic language theories. Digital technology not only enhances engagement and motivation for learning but also provides broader access to information sources, allowing students to explore the material independently. Despite challenges such as student distraction, the advantages of integrating technology appear to outweigh the drawbacks. The study emphasizes the need for effective classroom management approaches to minimize disruptions. By applying innovations in learning, it is hoped that students will gain a deeper understanding of Balaghah theories and appreciate the beauty of the Arabic language. The literature highlights the importance of technology in creating engaging and relevant learning experiences for students in the digital age.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the perceptions of students of the Arabic Language Education Department at UIN Datokarama Palu, Class of 2022, regarding the use of the Duolingo application in improving their Arabic vocabulary mastery. The research is based on the need for engaging and flexible learning media that can support continuous vocabulary acquisition, considering that conventional learning methods are often perceived as lacking variety and authentic contextual exposure to the Arabic language. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach involving seven purposively selected students based on their active use of Duolingo. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that most students hold positive perceptions of Duolingo, particularly due to its interactive features such as reading, listening, writing, and speaking exercises, which help enrich vocabulary gradually. Gamification elements, including points, levels, and daily streaks, also contribute to increased motivation and consistency in independent learning. However, several challenges are also identified, including limited vocabulary relevant to academic needs, dependence on a stable internet connection, and a tendency among some learners to pursue streaks without fully understanding the material. Overall, Duolingo is viewed as a sufficiently effective supplementary tool for enhancing Arabic vocabulary mastery, although its use becomes more optimal when combined with contextual materials and supported by lecturer guidance in formal learning environments.
